  1. The red one has a 3 or 4" cut on the roof line. I wish it was easier to do a chop top Z. It would look fricken sweet.
  2. Just grab a 79' 280ZX 5-speed. They bolt right up and i've grabbed 2 of them for less than $100 each. Best money I ever spent. Yes I installed it into my 240 but it should still mount the same. But I could be wrong. Any one here got a line on the info?
  3. Isn't wet sanding before painting just the funnest damn thing in the world? NOT!!!!. Looking good. Wanna help me out on finishing mine?
  4. But at least I got all the correct letters. mabe i shoood go bak too skool an startt over. :devious:
  5. ***Post Number 1001*** I broke the barrier finally I'll tell ya what Arne. If I had room or if you bring the car to me after I'l done with the red Z. (about 2 more weeks) I'll do the body work and paint it white with a 1 step paint (base and clear in one shot) For a measely $1000 But it's up to you and if this sounds like something you'd wanna do, get ahold of me. I figure that $1000 on a $2000 car will get ya $4000. but who knows, you might get more if we clean up the engine compartment while we're at it. A little paint and undercoating goes a looong way sometimes. Let me know, Dave.
  6. Arne, You know I got nothing but love for ya brother, BUT!!! I have to agree with the guys on this one. Too much rust, mismatched panels, non matching numbers and the lack of other parts is just killing the bottom line......What it's worth. I could do the bodywork but I'm 250+ miles away. The Z has PLENTY of potential but here's what I'd do if I were in your situation. Slap 2 decent fenders on it. Forget about taking pictures of all the little dents on the frame rail, I've never seen a 240Z without those dents. So as long as the rails are farely straight and NOT rotting off, you're good to go. run a DA over the car with 220 or 320 grit, pull off the parts that you don't want painted. Take a day or two to grind out or sand some of the other obvious rust spots. Spray a sandable primer on those spots as a prep for The local "Cheap paint Shop-Earl Shibe" pay them the $200-$300 for a quick WHITE paint job. White hides alot of problems that darker colors expose. Put it all back together, and sell it for about $3000. I don't know what kinda money you have into it but we all know that it's real hard to get out-what you put in. Maybe someone here (CZC) has a cheap set of doglegs that the paint shop can instal for ya. I wish you Luck on the sale but between you and me, I payed only $3000 for mine and I guess I got real lucky cause It's been in great shape so far.. Keep us informed and good luck.
  7. How about $200 for spelling lessons instead.... LOL Sorry, could'nt resist.
  8. here's mine, kinda crappy but hey, at least I tried. I used Presto image folio. hole lot cut-copy and pasting. Too many angles for my POS program.
  9. And like I said up there, it's also good for bugs, road grime and tar removal on the go. Glad to help, Dave.
  10. Next time you mix up your fluid or fill it up from a jug, Add a 1/8 cup of rubbing alcohol to the mixture. I think you might also call it isopropal alcohol. it will not only keep the mixture from freezing at lower temps, but will also help eliminate those dried on bugs during the summer. In case of a flash freeze or overnight freezing, it will melt the ice alot quicker when you spray it onto the window. Good luck, Dave.
  11. Yes, they are available at just about any hardware store that carries rivets. And as you can see from "BRE-240Z"s picture, Aluminum rivets are the better way to go. The original screws rust and the rivets are flatter and look alot cleaner. I don't know of any one who'll redicule or judge you for using rivets rather than the original rust ready screws. Good luck with the Z, Dave.
  12. 4 small screws in the engine compartment and 4 3/32" rivets on the door jam. I usually see aluminum and that's also what I will use to re-attach it after I'm done with the paint. Dave.
  13. hey Mike, is that the YELLOW Matchbox 240Z in the passenger side seat? I Got 2 of them from Fred Meyers of all places. Looking good.
  14. She's 9 years old and wants to be the first one to ride in the Z after it's all back together. She's cleaning up all the sanding dust to keep the garage clean for when I finally paint.
