I've got some fading paint and a little rust on my block. How would this hold up to the heat of the motor and would I have to strip the paint first?

You a funny guy there Johnny Did'nt I tell you how I got my Z stuff. I bum-rushed some guy in monroe and forced him to help me install them, as a matter of fact, I'm gonna go to his house tomorrow and do it again. :stupid:

Be nice Carl, At least she put a decent set of Tokico's on the 280Z. I did suggest the KYB's and mentioned that the Tokico's were not that bad. But she made up her mind on the monroes cause they are an "affordable" item at this point in time. I'm sure that when she can afford them, she'll get another set of Tokico's or KYB's for the 260Z and then she'll know the difference in the ride quality. I quess it's like they say "How can you know good, if you've never experianced bad" author unknown. Dave.

What is the name on the top of your fuel pump? That might help if I ever come across one

I have an original fuel pump on my 240 (70') It has never leaked. There are NO breather holes on it other than the 2 pin holes on the lower diaphram area, one in the front and one in the rear. the holes are directly located under the inlet and outlet tubes on the lower half of the pump. Does any one have a camera?? if you give me a minute or two, I'll take a picture and load it up on here to describe it better.

Stacey, Did you check the links? They should tell you what you need to know. But don't look at the pictures on sites like that one, they are rarely the item that they are describing. More of a brand style picture than actual product. Dave.

Stacey, Stacey, Stacey, Did'nt we have this conversation before? I believe they will fit but you shold have went with the KYB's but tokico will work. Sounds like a good find Carl, I guess I'm just venting but that kinda crap pisses me off. I looked at his "other items up for auction" and almost all of them said "perfect". Which they clearly were'nt. I'm going to bed now. See ya tomorrow Carl Dave.

I hope it's not his. I just sent a bitch letter asking the seller if he was serious. It says "perfect" That fusebox is so far from perfect its not even funny. I told him that any one with two eyes can easily see the parking light fuse is melted to hell and that he should apologize and do a rewrite. $^!# like that ticks me off. If I would have recieved that in the shape it's in after being told it was "perfect", I would shove it up his A$$. But thats just me. Dave.

The only problem with that is the original rivets are round and have no way to keep from spinning while you install the screw. Also, unless the screw is just right, It will catch too hard and spin or not catch enough and not hold or fall out. The original rivets when 30+ years old are a rigid plastic that may crack or split. just my 2 cents, Dave. P.S. i'm not knocking your idea tomohawk, But I've tried that and it's more trouble than its worth. Good idea though.

And to that I say, "he's correct". I have "KATS" driving lights, MiiG H-4 conversion headlights, An Alpine 80? watt deck, and a 300 watt subwoofer amp. I know for a fact that all his stereo DVD player/moniter (equipment) does'nt come close to the amperage that I pull and I have a stock alternator, battery and electrical system. I never have a problem with all that stuff on at the same time, he has a newer car than mine and his electrical is probably more set-up for it. I personally think his system will last for quite a while. FWIW, Dave. P.S. decent install, I worked at "CAR-TOYS" for 5 years and have been doing car stereo stuff since I was 16. Not a bad install.

Thanks! I got tired of rewrapping the wire around the hook, everytime I needed a light under the hood. Plus, you can only do that so many times before you get a break in the wire. This way it all goes back inside and nothing breaks. -
See if there is power at the coil. Try running a hot lead from the batteries (+) terminal to the (+) terminal on the coil then try to start it. If it starts, Then you might have a problem under the fuse box. Fuse will show to be "ok" but wire is disconnected or burnt under there somewhere. Could'nt hurt to try. Dave

So is it a "common" motor that has easy to find parts? Or is it a motor that may be a pain in the a$$ when you need parts? Not a big chevy fan but I've considered doing a Z with the 350 in it. Especially after seeing the darius240Z site http://servinitup.com/videos/240z.mpeg

I totaly agree, disconnect the stereo, start the car, while the engine is running hook up one wire at a time to see which wire is your problem.

I'm still stuck on the Chevy 302, I thought Ford made the 302 and Chevy made the 305? Just pondering. Why not go with the 350? They're more common, more parts, better horse power, Etc, etc. Just my 2cents Dave

I got the cord from an old cell phone car charger. 4 wires, used 2 wires for and the other2 for ground

I also installed a new micro switch, the stock one was bad. I'll repaint the unit at a later date. -
It's pretty bright and all focuses on one spot. very clean and easy to see under the hood now
