  1. I forgot to post the pictures of the interior that I promised the other day. New carpet kit, New "SeatZ" lower upholstry vinyl, hand made shift boot, 76' 280Z seats with new lowers (stated above) Original door panels, wheel well cover and strut tower vinyl, right rear quarter panel plastic. Still need the left rear inner quarter (mikeb says 2 weeks so I'm counting the days) and I need to repair the right quarter glass plastic. Dave
  2. Nope, I did that to the red Z cause someone hit the bumper the first week I own it. It was badly damaged so I decided to "MOD" it to make it look decent and almost functional. I always loved the 70 1/2' Camaro's Nerf Bumper so I went that route. Got HID's on the Red Z now and readjusted the 90/100's on the Green Z so I won't get "Flashed". Though it never happened with the red Z, when I had the same ones in there. Dave
  3. I may still go that route. The Reproduction ones are kinda lacking in body, as in not really thick enough to seal everything. I noticed a slight gap about 8" above the dash area on the passenger door. I think I'll slide a peice of rubber in there to expand the seal lip a little. So I might still consider it. Won't be a loss though as the new seals are still New and someone may want them for $40 or $50. We'll see. I'll take some better pics of the completed interior today. They say the sun will come out soon. Thanks bu the way. I'm pretty damn happy with it. 15 years of sitting, almost completely revered in under 5 weeks. Still wanna upgrade the Blower motor and wiper motor, as the blower box needs to come out to repair the control panel cables and repaint the box. The wipers are not in top shape but that's fixable.   4. Wow. Been a while since I reported back on this one. Been 5 weeks since I got the 72' for free. So far I've........ dropped about $1400 into her. New AutoPal H4 conversion headlights with 90/100 bulbs $40 My Headlight upgrade harness My Parking light upgrade harness My ZXP with a Subaru 60 amp IR alternator 4 used tires with 85% tread (205/70R14's) Mounted and ballanced $180 Well maintained Motor, 4-speed, radiator, E12-80 dizzy w/ Blaster 2 $200 New Exhaust system (from header to chrome tip (2 months old) $100 New 5-peice carpet Kit from MSA (loop style) $200 2-rebuilt front Calipers from O'rileys with New pads $38 each $78 Front rotors turned, bearings and spindle cleaned and repacked $26 New Pioneer AM/FM/CD head unit and rear 5 1/4" 2-way speakers $100 Front 4X6" speakers in pods in front kick panels New Power Antenna $55 Oil, new filter, 2 fuel filters, blew out the lines, ETC. $35 Aluminum Wheel Acid to clean wheels and Tire Shine for a new look $15 Tabs, New Plates, title transfer and the Governments share $100 New seat Vinyl bottoms as the backs were pretty good Thanks Tyler $80 New Door seals and inner and outer hatch seals From MSA $180 Still needs new Struts all around and I've yet to check out the rear brake issue, almost scared to at this point. Bought new brake shoes but that's as far as I've gone thus far. Pounded out a few dents, realigned some things, cleaned a few things and this car is AWESOME!! Drives great, she's almost straight, everything works, even the rear defrost. Just need to do the rear brakes and fix the heater panel cables so they work correctly. Not bad for a few weeks work on a budget and a car that sat for almost 15 years with NO love. Dave And a picture of our new Puppy (chihuahua) His name is, of coarse, "Z" He's 3 weeks old, we can bring him home in another 2 or 3 weeks.
  5. The stainless clutch slave line from MSA is only about $17 ? I have one on each Z. It'll never fail in the hose area.
  6. Totally missing. It's for the green Z. The only part of that panel that was in the car was the part just over the strut tower, the rest was broke off and gone. Mike, That would be awesome and I can wait. I'm patient like that. just let me know. Thanks in advance, Dave
  7. So far for me, the hardest part (Used) is the inner left quarter panel plastic. Must be made of breakable unabtanium.

    maybe an exhaust leak? That causes a tap or pop sound and without plugs, there is no compression to make the sound? Maybe?

  11. So I guestimated pretty damn close then. I was on the Datsun Z link but I'm not sure how I posted the 300ZX link? Weird. But either way, my computer won't allow it to run cause it's unlicensed or something. Can't verify the publisher or some crap. At least I'm a good guesser. Dave
  12. Final drive? What's your diffs gear ratio? The Robello motor should allow you to keep up the power that is normally lost at those speeds. I'll throw a wild guess at it and say about 140, +/- 5mph But a lower gear ratio of say 3:90 versus 3:50? or similar will mean the Difference between 130 and 145. The 4-speed versus the 79' 5-speed will also make a difference. There's a top speed Link somewhere on this site or another.   13. Third note, if you have a 64 bit OS, it won't "Autorun" but is still viewable and clickable thru standard files. That's how I use mine and I've found myself using it more and more lately. Great CD for the Z enthusiast. Dave
  14. Horse shoes and Hand Grenades Julio. Close don't count. But I will tell you that when I owned my 78' 510 (A10) 2-door hatchback, I decided to open her up on 405, at 3am in the morning. Passed a Stater doing 140mph. He was taking a wizz on the side of the road so it took him a while to finally catch up to me. I was already pulled over, smoked half a cigarette and had all needed papers in hand by the time he caught up to me. Turns out, he wanted to know 1) WHAT THE HELL FLEW PAST HIM AT 140+mph!!!, 2) What the heck did I do to the car to make it do that!! 3) Why didn't I just keep going, "You probably would have lost me" He told me that he clocked me at 140 but I was still accelerating after he clocked me and guessed my final speed before deceleration at about 145. He had a neighbor with the identical car and said "Write down everything you did to the car for my buddy, ignore the fact that I was pissing on the side of the road, and I'll let you go with a warning"!!!! Lucky me, I had already written everything down for another friend, handed him the paper and said "Can I go home and have my nervous breakdown there?" He promissed to throw my butt in jail so fast it would make my head spin, If he ever caught me speeding on "My Freeway" again. Shook hands with an Awesome cop and rove home.   15. It'll really wizz you off if you find you went thru all this only to find your fuel system is clogged. Have you blown out the fuel system (hoses tank NW FUEL FILTER? hoses, float bowls etc?) I say this cause a clogged fuel filter will allow the car to run but not under a load, depending on how clogged it. But the rest of your problems sound like timing, wiring and possibly fuel (damper oil, clogged float bowl filter, sticky piston, etc) Feel free to stop by when yu get it running though.   17. it'll feel sportier, but not new. If You want new, you'll need rubber not Urethane, Eibachs not Tokico's, and stock springs. So what are you really looking for?
