Golden Gardens, Seattle, 2010?
Still interested and have had many members and friends ask if me and the wife are still going. I'll tell you the same thing I told them.. I'll know more by saturday evening, after the weather man can give a more accurate forecast. Basically, if it's raining, I ain't going... If it will only be breazy, then I'll most likely go, but I'm wearing my CZCC shirt, Hybrid hoody and Carhart denim jacket. And I'm bringing a pot of HOT!! coffee. Last year kinda sucked. It's on the waterfront so a ccold wet breeze is to be expected. I'll post on here tomorrow evening wit more details. Dave

I Just got ANOTHER 240Z, she's gonna kill me!!
IT'S ALIVE!!! IT'S ALIVE Took Tyler for a drive around the block today after the oil change and topping off the other fluids. The old 260Z exhaust bolted right up to the new engine with 3-into-2 header. Clutch needs a little adjusting and the damn Rear brake bleeders both BROKE OFF!!! So It needs new cylinders in the rear. And I might as well replace all the brake pads and shoes while I'm at it. Totally stoked at this point though. 4 days ago, I pulled a shell of a car into the driveway, today, I drove it around the block. Now Tyler knows why I'm such a "Clepto" when it comes to Datsun Parts. I had almost everything I needed, just sitting around, looking for a place to happen...... Might need to go buy a jar of electrical smoke, to replace what crept out of the dash earlier. might have been one of those spiders in a circuit or something, cause it only did it once. Dave

I Just got ANOTHER 240Z, she's gonna kill me!!
So today, I ran down and had the flywheel resurfaced for $35 and also had to buy a new clutch master for $45 as the old one was corroded and shot to hell. Got the flywheel on, as well as the new Sachs clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing and guide. Me and Tyler got the tranny in pretty easily, considering we were on a hill and the damn jack kept rolling down the hill, with the tranny attached. Had to use the 260Z's slave cylinder, stainless clutch line and clutch fork. But that's OK, the motor aint going into the 260Z any time soon. So tomorrow, I'll finish bolting up the driveline, blow out the fuel lines and instal the new fuel fiter and give her an oil change and top off the tranny fluid as well. Then I gotta bleed the brakes, check the electrical system and with any luck, FIRE IT UP for the first time in 12+ years. Also had time for a quick family photo with Tyler's Z as well. And that's a Subaru 60 amp IR alternator. Aparently, it's a direct bolt in. Dave

I Just got ANOTHER 240Z, she's gonna kill me!!
So I made a call today to Adam in Everett. His RB26 is in Customs so he needed to get the stock motor out of his 240Z and sold. He sold me the motor, Trans, radiator, Blaster 2 Coil, basically a full running drivetrain with all the goodies, for $200. AND!!!!!! He even brought the cherry picker with him and helped me install the motor right there. So tomorrow, I'll take the flywheel down to have it resurfaced and after that, install the flywheel, New Sach's Clutch (that I bought for the 70') and the tranny. Just gotta find the crossmember and a good driveline. Then I'll check out the electrical system and see what I can do about starting it this week. YEAH!!! Aaron (The P.O.) is gonna POOP PURPLE TWINKIES!!!! Dave

I Just got ANOTHER 240Z, she's gonna kill me!!
So yesterday I (Me and Tyler) tore out the sound deadener from the front floorboards and under the seats. It was easy cause when I pounded the froor back down into place, the Sound deadener seperated easily due to rusty floorboards. I found a few pin holes and pencil size rust holes under the drivers seat. I'll weld those shut and POR15 the floors before laying some new Sound deadener down. I'm NOT gonna go ballistic on this 240Z!!! Just gonna fix when NEEDS to be fixed, clean her up and get her ready for a motor. I might just pop in a running motor for now and V8 her later on. I really need to concentrate on the 260Z before I go nuts on anything else. The 70' is just a daily driver and just needs to be kept tuned up and drivable. Thanks for all the Great comments and support. I can't wait for the P.O to see her on all 4 and lookin better than the last 15 years. I SHOULD keep her covered up till he signs the title over, or he might change his mind..... Dave

I Just got ANOTHER 240Z, she's gonna kill me!!
I hope so. I'm heading back out to do some more cleaning. SHould be fun, on the hottest day of the year thus far..... Should help dry out all the excess moisture. The carpet and jute were soaked and trashed and therefore, tossed in the trash. Gonna do what I can and keep the wife happy by mowing the lawn and other things, inbetween breaks from the car... Dave

Series 1 Brake Master Options
15 and 16+ years seems to be the theme this week. Is there an option to the early series booster? Like from another year Z? My new 72' (just got it from a guy who let it sit for 15 years) may need a new booster and the small one in the car looks like it may need replacing or rebuilding. Dave

Blue-White Smoke/Exhaust Farts
Sounds like blow-by. Blue/white smoke is typically Oil. Could be rings, valve seats or guides. The back-firing sound like it's dumping fuel and igniting it on decelleration. Typical of SU's but not sure on FI motors. Dave

Leaking fuel level sender seal
It's just a rubber O-Ring, I thing MSA has them as well as new senders if your need. Easy fix. Unplug the wires, pound the seal ring counter-clockwise? remove the sender and old seal, replace the seal, reverse the operation. Done. Dave

I Just got ANOTHER 240Z, she's gonna kill me!!
And it turns out, the other previous owner, before Aaron, Had the car completely Rust proofed using "Tuff Cote Dinol" Automotive Rust Proofing.... Me and Tyler found the Sticker in the window and a butt load of small "Tuff-Cote" rubber button Plugs all over the car. They sprayed a Tar like spray into the kick panels, quarters, inside the doors, the floorboards, dof-legs and a few other places.. Pretty damn cool find..... You can see what a days worth of LOVE and TLC can do for a 15 year waiter. In the last 2 pics, you can see some of the roof dent's I spoke of earlier. Not sure if I can pound them out but I'll damn sure try. So here's a few more shots for today. My hands are hamburger and I'm gonna hit the pillow hard. More to do tomorrow. Dave

I Just got ANOTHER 240Z, she's gonna kill me!!
WOW!!! That was a long day. The wood ramp broke while trying to get the car on it, so that left the rear wheels hanging off the flat-bed. So I jacked it up using a floor jack on the diff, got it high enough for all four of us to push it onto the flatbed the rest of the way, tied it down and took it home. Brandon, my neighbor is the coolest, he got the flatbed and was happy to help with everything. I guess he felt he owed me for all the times I worked on his custom car. My 18 year old son, Ryan, Tyler (Z_Tyler_Z), Brandon and Me all managed to get it off the trailer and started tearing into it. We found almost everything. But found it needs Carpet, the Left rear quarter panel plastic and a few other things. Me and Tyler laid it all out, managed to get the windows up far enought to wash it and went to town on it. Ya, the windows need serious repair, the tracks are off and the regulators are bent. We scrubbed the hell out of it then I conned my daughter into applying the Meguiars Cleaner Wax with a polishing machine (See how easy it is Jordan) "Hey, I can do that" So I gave her quick lessons and she went to town while I followed with a soft clean towel. Tyler cleaned the inside while me and Jordan went crazy on the outside. I took a cell phone picture and sent it to the gal who released the car to me (Aarons ex-wife) and she wrote back saying "Awesome!! How come it looks so much better at your place than mine?" So here's some shots so far...... Dave

only 1 set of 240Z LED Tail lights for sale!!
Yup, Jonny's right. Still doing the LED Taillight conversions. $275 for the 240Z's and $300 for the 260Z's and 280Z's. Prices did go up a little because the LED's I use are pricey and shipping keeps being bumped up by the post office and everyone else. If, after seeing the price, you're still interested, email me at wolfin32z@yahoo.com Dave

I Just got ANOTHER 240Z, she's gonna kill me!!
I'm gonna keep her 113 Green!!! I've never thought of owning 3 at a time or at once, so I've never considered any other colors, on a car that I didn't have. The paint seems to be in decent shape and the side molding is "Stick on" so I'll peel the rest off (that hasn't already fallen or peeled off) and clean off all the residue and try to polish it all out. I think I'll be happy with leaving it green, for now. It may need a respray after the roof is fixed. My wife was actually with me when I went to go look at it for the first time. Let's just say she was less than "Enthusiastic" as I pointed out the lack of dent, decent paint, and the fact that it looked to be a "Complete" car. Basically, I was trying to sell her on the idea of a 3rd Z. Her biggest concern is the landlord. But her best friend, who lives in our neighborhood explained to her that "You're allowed 2 in the garage and 2 in the driveway" and as long as it doesn't look like I'm storing trash, I should be fine. I think I'm winning this fight...... She is sad looking, needs more than a tune up and we already have a "Rescue Dog" who has turned out to be the best thing we've ever done as a couple. "Buck" is basically one of the kids and he is probably treated better than the kids. We had to fight to get Buck and I'm fighting to get this car. The 260Z was a rescue car as well. The guy was gonna part it out and cut it up, but I got there in the nick of time. Now she's gonna be a Beauty. At this point, I'm counting down the hours. I'm as giddy as a fat kid in a chocolate Factory, who wondered away from the tour group... I'm excited but a little apprehensive of what I'll do with her, all at the same time. so we've fought a little but the make-up sex was great.. LOL Now she's demanding foot rubs and back massages. Take a guess as to whether the car or the wife will wear me out first? Thanks for all your support guys. I'll post pics later this evening, after I fix the window track and am able to roll up the window and wash and wax her. Gonna need to invest in Windex. Dave
