  3. HELPED!!! HELPED!!! Is that all I get? HELPED. Just screwin with ya John. Hey Mike, I'm gonna load a bunch into the Audio Systems file. I don't think we had that when I uploaded all my stuff. Fixitman..... What do you have in mind? I have 2) 10" MTX subs in a custom fiberglass box in the spare tire well, 2) 400 watt amps behind the seats, 1) 4-ch to the 6 speakers 1) 2-ch to the subs 2) 5 1/4" 2-ways in the stock rear location 2) 4" Kicker 2-ways in the doors 2) 6" Alpine 2-ways in custom fiberglass pods in the front kick panel area 1) Pioneer AM/FM/CD/XM Satelite Radio head unit. 1) Hidden DVD player with headphones 1) 7" Monitor under the Pass. side dash, that flips out for viewing 2 guage power wire on the battery to the (-) ground bolt and to the 4-fuse distribution block on the firewall. and 4 guage to the amps. 1) custom grounding kit w/ gold plated connectors and terminals that I made cause Z's really need it. Full alarm, power windows, power door locks, H4 lights, LED taillights-front markers-side markers-dash lights-map lights, Cold cathode dome lights and under dash lights, and the list goes on. I'll upload some stuff soooooon, I promise. Dave. *EDIT* I just uploaded a bunch and should show up as soon as they are processed.
  4. And the later models occasionally came with dual vaccums. If you can't find the diagram......... © on the E12-80 to the coils (-) terminal, like normal ( on the E12-80 to the coils (+) terminal Bypass the Ballast resistor by connecting the 2 wires on the ballast to each other (I used a jumper wire from bolt to bolt) And keep the previous dizzy and parts in the storage area just in case. And for Gods sake, carry a tool bag with you at all times, It's a Z, it has as much attitude as a punk rock girl who's eyeliner is running. Dave
  5. I'm guessing that the way film crews take forever to take "the Shot" The Z probably did that shot a few times before they got it right and in the process, the coolant was ready to "swap out" at the time they hit the corner. Questions is how many times they shot that and how long did they amke him wait to do the stunt and how hot was it. Or maybe he lost the lid on his overflow bottle with all the jerking around. Dave.
  6. I think that's what I said? I also put in a link to the exact 15:45 time frame. I was wrong on the correct spelling at first, though. just FYI, Dave
  7. I can't beleive nobody has wrote about the 240Z on the new sitcom "TESTIES" The main guys are in a hurry to get out of town and all of a sudden you see tires squeeling and the camera backs around the corner to see a 240Z sliding around a corner, no swaybar, body roll and twisting as it slides, burning tires and takes off down the road. Then the camera focuses on the two main characters in a P.O.S. Ford Fiesta? Channel 53 on Comcast FX-West tonight at 10:30. Not the episode with the 240Z but a Dumb/Funny show none the less. Here's a link to the 15 second seen. http://vod.fxnetworks.com/fod/play.php?sh=testees&ep=85&start=945&stop=963 Dave.
  8. Shoes were frozen to the drum, busted a chunk off the drum while pounding it off from the back, trashed the back plate but it don't matter, Rear disk brakes are in the future. More fun for me.
  9. Sandblasted and painted or POR15'd upper spring perches, T/C bars (T/C kit will be used in tandom with Urethane rear bushings. Just need my springs and struts now.
  10. Getting ready for the new 4-piston calipers, new painted rotor and repacked bearings.
  11. rebuilt/refurbished ball joint, POR15 black and Ultra silver paint, every bolt has anti-seize, strut assembly was sandblasted clean, Urethane grease cup and a new O-ring on the streering knuckle. OH fun.
  12. Good to hear about the harness's. The wheels are polished aluminum (American) Eagle Alloys 16"x7" wheels w/ a 0.0 offset. I checked with the manufacturer and they are NLA in 16". Only 15" I think. The tires are 225/50ZR16 Riken Raptors ($75 each when on sale) They're now $92 each http://aewheel.com/eagle_alloy_wheels.cfm?id=10 The wheel http://aewheel.com/wheels_detail_specs.cfm?id=10 The specs Mine were bought a few years ago and they have the dual size holes under the cap (holes for datsun and 1 size up. 8 holes) http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/searchTiresBySize.do?r=WASINT%7Cpc%7C98270&cs=225&ar=50&rd=16 Riken Raptor ZR Size 225/50ZR16 92W BSW UTQG 300AA Speed Rating Z High-performance, great looks at an affordable price. Z-speed rated. $92.00 each
  13. Before Microsoft paid for my exhaust system that is now on the 70', there was a turbo muffler made by CherryBomb. Looked like a regular muffler but said Cherrybomb on it, I was surprised because I thought they only made the tube style. Dave.
  14. Again, My next question is obviously this...... Part number of the correct KYB struts and Eibach Pro Rate springs for my early 260Z with the measurements above. Thanks for all your inputs, Next Z after this one WILL BE A 240Z. No more 260/280Z crap to worry about from me.
  15. Bumping up to a 16" wheel will seriously increase your options when it comes to Performance tires. Manufacturers are trying to keep up with Now-a-days cars and they start at 15" wheels. I went from 14" slotted mags (you all know the kind) and moved up to a 16"X7" then loaded them with 205/40R16's but the ride was too harsh. So I went with a 225/50ZR16 and the ride is very comfortable yet agressive. The tires are Riken Raptors and the price is awesome. I only paid $75 each at Discount Tire. They fill the wheel well beautifully and don't rub, even with the car being lowered 1.5"s all the way around. Dave.
  16. Same thing here. I started with a good dose of degreaser to make sure the grease did'nt affect the polishing. Then went to 1000 grit to smooth everything out, then 1500, then 2000 grit. Then I used a buffing wheel on my bench grinder with a red rouge? to cut thru the scratches. Followed by liquid aluminum polish to buff it all out. You'd be smart to use a deep crystal clear coat afterwards to keep the shine and luster. Make sure it's a hi temp clear coat. You can wash out the buffing material and polish with warm, soapy water and a soft toothbrush for the cracks, before clearcoating. As you can tell from the pictures, I've repeated the process on MANY of the aluminum items in my engine compartment. Schucks, NAPA, AutoZone and many other auto parts stores also carry Anodizing spray in Red, Blue, Gold and some other colors to really make it all come alive and maybe even match some real anodized items on the engine. Dave. The third picture shows the pulley and water neck after being polished (by me) then sprayed with the red anodizing spray, then clearcoated. As an offset to the blue anodized hose fitting.
  17. I measued my 240Z inner tube and it's (with a 1" wide tape measurer) 15.0625"?? or 15-1/16" The 260Z tube measured at 15.1875" or 15-3/16th the OD of both tubes is 2" the ID of the 240Z tube is a smidge over 1 3/4" the ID of the 260Z tube is a smidge under 1 3/4" and seems to have a thicker inner wall, hense the smidge under term. The 260Z strut cap screws onto the 240Z tube beautifully. I'm just gonna reuse the 260Z tubes on the 260Z. I asked the original question because I already had a beautiful set of 240Z tubes ready to go, and I know 240Z's. So my next question is obviously this...... Part number of the correct KYB struts and Eibach Pro Rate springs for my early 260Z with the measurements above. Thanks for all your inputs, Next Z after this one WILL BE A 240Z. No more 260/280Z crap to worry about from me. I found this today when I tore into the 260Z front struts. Please tell me that the KYB's are self contained units that I don't have to fill with oil and assemble one peice at a time. What a fricken mess. Thanks again guys, The second picture is me prepping the control arms for the Urethane bushings. The finish will be hi gloss POR-15. Dave.
  18. It's NOT a later 260Z. It's a 2/74' and that's why I'm confused. I guess I'll just reuse the 260Z equipment (struts and springs) But another question would be.......... Is the typical early 280Z front strut assembly longer than the 3/8" that the 260Z seems to be over the 240Z? If that confused you, here's what I'm asking...... 240Z front strut assembly is 15 7/8" (8/70') 260Z front strut assembly is 16 1/4" (2/74') 280Z front strut assembly is ?? ???" (_/75') ????? If I order 260/280Z Eibach Progressive rate lowering springs, and KYB strts, would this be the correct application for my 2/74? Knowing that the 260Z front assembly is only 3/8" longer and the perch is only 1" lower?? I really appreciate any help or opinions that will get me on track. I'm starting to hate this 260Z crap. Dave.
  19. So nobody's ever dealt with this or come across this type of swap?
  20. I compared the 2 because I'd like to use the 240Z strut assembly on the 260Z but not sure of the ride height difference.

  22. Used a torch to heat the old undercoating then scraped it off with a putty knife. Should look good when it's all done.

  24. After 1/2" of crap was removed, sandblasted, painted
