240Z Combo and T/S switch repair Service
I listed what I need above, but I want to see what Matt has available before I look into other parts. So as soon as he gets back to me, I'll let ya know what we come up with. Thanks for the heads up, Dave.

240Z Combo and T/S switch repair Service
Center console, Dash (Empty is fine) or dash cover to cover all the damn cracks, 3 terminal Ballast resistor, decent 240Z rear bumper, All 5 carpets, passenger side window regulator and a drivers side door. Those are the important things that I need. Any one of those things would be awesome but I don't expect you to seriously ship me a door or dash cause that could be expensive. All kidding aside, I'm happy you approve of the switches and upgrades. Let me know when you get them in and how everything works. Thanks for the compliments and good words, I really appreciate it. Dave.

I need everyones input on this one (Combo and T/S switches)
That's awesome Mike. So far, it looks like all early 240Z's up to 1/71'. even though Matt has an 8/71' with the double black wires on the headlight switch. Not to be confused with the double black on the wiper switch. Thanks again Mike, I've been waiting for pics of an early 240Z set-up. Dave

Electro-Plating Tailight Trim?
I also have a bunch of 260 and 280Z taillight chromes that could use replating. Cause I know the 260Z in my driveway could use some new chrome. I've noticed that the 260 and 280Z chromes desintegrate much easier than the 240Z trim, due to very this plating. Dave.

Electro-Plating Tailight Trim?
I would be interested as well but not for $75 a peice. Being as how I do the LED conversion on the 240Z taillights, I'm always looking for an alternative to the process I do. I run them under warm water and use "0000" Steel wool. It seems to clean them up very nice with NO scratching of the chrome. But that only goes as far as the condition of the chrome under the smoke and dirt damage. If I knew exactly what was involved in the plating process, I'd buy the supplies and do everything myself and if I like the results, I'd offer it to everyone. Mike, remind me about the vender at Canby. I'm an airhead on the week-ends. Dave.

I need everyones input on this one (Combo and T/S switches)
That's just my way of giving you that needed friendly "Nudge". My 260Z needs that kinda nudge as well. I need a center console, a dash or dash cap, All 5 carpets, door and hatch seals and a drivers side door. But hopefully, I can light a fire under my butt and start rebuilding some of these switches and get some cash flow to get the 260Z on the road. It's already been tabbed and licensed and title is in hand so the rest is merely cosmetic. I'm on my way to the garage to see what I can do for you before We head to Canby this week-end. Dave.

OMG Matt!! Your switches look like arse warmed over...... You are gonna be SOOOOOO HAPPY with the rebuilt set I'm making for you. Your current set looks like it was just pulled from the bottom of Lake Iwannagopoopoo. I'm gonna get on your set as soon as possible. Thanks for the pictures guys. Hey ARNE, Now you see what I mean about the change over date? Yours is 1 month older than Matts and he has a double Black on the headlight switch where as yours is on the wiper side. Matts has a black in and black out on the HL switch and yours has the red and white (typical of the early models.) Thanks again guys Dave. 280Z guys, I still need all years and dates of the 280Z's

Combo switches were essencially the same, the T/S switch is what I'm interested in on your car.

I need everyones input on this one (Combo and T/S switches)
Did you ever test it on the car? I ask cause it has a short lead on the T/S switch and so far, everyone else's late 71's have long tails on the TS. So it's throwing me off a little. I'm trying to make this thread as accurate as possible so any help is great. By the way, if you don't mind me asking, What did you pay for the pair, on Ebay? Dave.

I need everyones input on this one (Combo and T/S switches)
I still need top and bottom views of an 8/71 set. Does the T/S switch have the long or short connector? The early models have the short wires and the laters have the long lead. But I don't know what the cut-off date is yet. So I'm calling all mid 71' owners for pics of there 8 or 7 of 71' swithes. Or even a detailed list of what goes where. Thanks again guys, this will help all who need this info in the future, especially when you buy switches from Ebay or Craigslist and you want to double check what it is. Any help is appreciated, Dave.

Fuse box/headlight/charging problem
Top right is the left headlight fuse, second down on the right is the right headlight fuse third down on the right is the parking light fuse. Parking lights, dash lights and sidemarkers are all on the same circuit. Check your fusable links between the alternator and the engine harness, and inbetween the starter and the engine harness that plugs into the starter. It's been 35 years, time to change the battery cables and clean ALL of the ground points. Make sure your Combo (Headlight ) switch is actually switching. just use an ohms meter between the green/white and green/ blue for the parking lights. Red/white? and white/red or black for the headlights. That should give you something to do until someone else chimes in. Welcome to the forum, Dave.

Datsun Driving CANBY Fun June 14 & 15
Basically, Unregistered cars, that show up the day of the show, will be put in the grass lot to the west of the entrance. That's what they did with our group, that showed up the day of the event and weren't registered. It's basically a nice way to hang out with all your friends, possibly get a peoples choice Award, check out some nice Datsuns/Nissans and park inside the event, close to the action. Hell, most of the spectators don't even know your car is NOT in the show, and they look anyways. Hope to see ya'll there, Dave and Leah.

Need help Running lights and dash light issues!!
So I guess when all else fails, Take It To A Shop!!. Sorry but you seem to be running in circles. Isolate the dash light circuit, unplug all the wires and bulbs, replace the bulbs with new ones, Run a new ground wire to each dash light ground wire, insert the new bulbs now run a hot wire to each red/blue wire, one at a time to test each light. When you find that they all work, connect all the dash lights together and connect them to the parking light circuit. So you add 2 runs of wire, at least it'll all work and no one will be the wiser. So basically find the problem or Fix the problem and then drive the car. Dave

Need help Running lights and dash light issues!!
And that's why I work on 240Z's.......... Almost strictly. I figured the 280Z would do something like that. Oh well, good luck. Dave.

Need help Running lights and dash light issues!!
Yes, the base is grounded to the housing, that's your lights ground, but you need to make sure that the red/blue wire isn't grounded. Remove all the bulbs (dash lights) test the circuit again and if it blows the fuse, the problem is before the bulbs. If the fuse does NOT blow, replace the bulbs back into there sockets, one at a time and watch the fuse. If the fuse blows apon inserting a bulb, that's your problem area. One thing at a time, that's the best I can give you at the moment.

Need help Running lights and dash light issues!!
The only thing I can think of that would cause the instant blown fuses would be a direct short. Start checking the dash lights for ground problems or wires shorting out. One at a time.
