Lamborghini. My first love was the old Countach 5000S. That was the first Sports car model I ever built, the damn kit cost me $30 and it had over 300 peices. Then they came out with the Diablo VT and I drooled for a week straight. If I'm ever rich, I will own a VT. Dave.

Gotta be bound all the way around. I've seen them without. Bound around the mounting tab area under the front seats or it'll rip too easy. That reminds me, I need NEW carpet soon. Great questions Arne. Dave

B--(+) on the coil C--(-) on the coil 180 off is incorrect. should attach the same as stock unit. Make sure #1 is towards the radiator. It's so simple that most people complicate it. I just did one last week on Justin54321's Z. Loosen the adjustment screws, Get your #1 piston to TDC, install the dizzy so it locks down onto the pin correctly, install the cap then put the #1 spark plug wire onto the post that is closes to the radiator where the rotor is pointing.. So before the cap goes on, the rotor should point forward'ish, note that mentally, instal cap and see which pole is closes to the rotors location, that's your #1 wire location. Then install all the Spark plug wires, 1,5,3,6,2,4 ??? in counter-clockwise arrangement. Even if the rotor points to the rear, make that post your #1 spark plug location and go 1,5,3,6,2,4 conter clockwise.

I have no idea what the original question or comment was. but I think your keyboard is broken as well...... BROKEN IGNITION, not broked ingition. Sorry, spell police are on duty. And giggling all the way to the bank.

Only real difference is the bell housing, they also used the BW T-5 in the 300ZX but that was with the V6 motor. What you need is the correct bell housing and if you use the 300ZX T-5, you'll need to swap out the input shaft for the shorter 280ZX style. I Have a 300ZX B/W T-5 in the garage if anyone is interested. It needs a rebuild and the correct input shaft and bell housing. Dave.

Glad to help. My guess would also be that it was "Tapped" and just needed to be repaired. Dave.

Most white/red large gauge wires in the Z are HOT leads. One goes to the ignition and one to the fuse box, I believe. Finish the cut and reconnect it with a butt connector. Or finish the cut and solder both ends together then tape the hell out of it, or use heat-shrink over the solder joint. Dave.

OK, so back to the original post. Why don't you have Turn signals or headlights? Dave.

Apon reading as much as possible on the site, Your looking at this equasion.... 156000watts / 750 watts/hp *.80 efficiency factor 166hp peak That should NOT be a problem for the 5-speed you have in mind. The tranni you have should easily handle 200+ HP but it's the torque I'm worried about. 400+ FPT may be an issue for the Nissan tranny, but if you can limit it in increments, I still don't see an issue. Great project, keep us up to date. Dave.

I just reached thru the holes and rubbed on 4) 3"x9" pieces in a square pattern (2 up and 2 down) Just make sure to "TAP" on the metal to find the noisiest parts of the door, then cover them with the mat. Same thing for the inner door skin, just tap to find the noisy parts. Just remember that the more you add, the heavier the car gets. Dave.

Yes, please post some pics so we can determine what it really is...... The 280Z only goes to 78' and the 79' is a 280ZX, different body style, more squared corners. Where as the 78' 280Z has the same body style as the 260Z and 240Z. Good to hear another one was saved. Welcome to the best soarse for all theings Z related. Dave.

Accessory Fusible Link vs. Car Stereo Speakers
Zs-ondabrain replied to evilpete's topic in Electrical
that's an easy one.... Stop using house speakers in your Z. Regular speakers in almost any car are 4 ohms, he typical house speaker is 8 ohms. Get a real car audio amplifier from your local car audio shop, use real power wire from the battery to the amp. Run new speaker wire from the amp to the speakers. I have over 800 watts from 2 different amps, 2-10" subs, 2-6.5" speakers, 2-5.25" speakers, 2-4" speakers, Pioneer AM/FM/CD/XM deck, seperate DVD player and 7" monitor. My fuses never overheat cause it's all wired in correctly. Go to a stereo shop and spend some real money for some real sound, that's "Booming" Dave. -
that's a horn relay. Green/red is power from the fusebox green/black is contact wire from the horn button Green wire is directly to the horns. try looking for a replacement relay (ask around) or find out which one is drawing. Dave.

Zs-ondabrain replied to Zs-ondabrain's topic in United States
I told him that you found many more problems that weren't apparent apon the first inspection, and that she did'nt die in vain. All of her parts were sent to waiting recipients. The sunroof was a problem and I made up crap along the way. Like a doctor, I told him it was all for the better. He did'nt seem as distraut afterwards. Dave. -

Hey Arne, Speaking of Yellow Z's. There was a guy there that said "I sold a yellow Z to a guy named Arne, It was the exact color of that cowl panel on Justins Z" He changed his tune after I told him that the Yellow cowl panel on Justins Z "Was from Arne's Yellow Z" He looked kinda confused and upset all at the same time. -
How many tools do I need to replace rockers?s
Zs-ondabrain replied to madkaw's topic in Body & Paint
That is so true. Every time I do a set or even one dog-leg, I'll stand up and look at the ground and wonder "where the hell did all these tools come from and how many did I really need" Grinders, cutters, sanders, sheet metal, tin snips, hammers, files, screw drivers for scraping areas ya can't reach, fiberglass, bondo, mixing cups and plates, markers, rulers, extension cords, welder, etc, etc. Dave. -

We just got back, forgot the camera but Justin brought his (he'll post later. Austin was there in his 280Z and KensZ? was also there. Plenty of other Z's but everyone crowded around us mainly. Weather was actually nice, till about 1:30 with a quick shower then cleared up again. Had a great time meeting other Z guys and a whole lotta finger pointing at the row of Z's pulling into the lot. Dave. -

Well, snow or not, looks like the roads have cleared and the only snow is on the side of the road. We're heading out in 10 minutes. Hope some more of you brave the wet and cold, and hope to see a few of you there. Dave and Leah. -

Zs-ondabrain replied to Zs-ondabrain's topic in United States
OK guys, it's 12:50am and the weather does'nt look like it's going to cooperate with the Shoreline area. Justin54321 called me earlier with almost 2 inches in his yard (he lives in Lynnwood, a couple miles north of the seattle area and not that far from Golden Gardens Park.) I will check the weather in the morning and try and post as to wether I'm going or not. I know that I'm the one who posted the Golden Gardens event on the fron calender of events and even started this write-up but....... I have NO control over the weather. I just looked at NWN's site and they say "Come hell or hi water" it's on. So if you're brave and have lifted your Z into a 4X4 stance, you get the idea. I will ATTEMP to go but I make NO promises at this point. Jack in the box on 85th and Aurora, 9:30am this morning. I totally understand if you don't make it, hell I'm half tempted to stay home and work on some harness's instead. Besides, I'm also getting my windows tinted (15%) tomorrow afternoon and the Z is spotless at this point in time. Dave. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You can't just roll on into GG like every other year this time around. NEW IMPROVED DIRECTIONS!!! Now I know, I know yes I Know!!!1!! That each and every one of you has mad dorifto skills on that hill but unless you got some Bo Duke skills you just ain't gonna make it. So don't be a Subaru and use these directions, slammed pignose lip approved courtesy of sblack13. See now that makes a lot more sence to me. that extra gallon or more can really throw ya off. I've never run the tank completely dry and then filled it up to the top so it makes measuring out of the question. Thanks, Dave.

There is just enough room for a standard DIN radio (2" x 7") deck. Just takes a little trimming here and there. BUT BE CAREFUL when you cut out the 2x7 hole, the plastic can brak on the bottom half of that hole. If you break it, you'll just need to make a trim plate out of 3/32" ABS plastic. (I have some here) I have a Pioneer AM/FM/CD/XM radio in the dash, 2) 400 watt Coustic amps, 2) 4" kickers in the doors, 2) 5-1/4" Pioneer 2-ways in the rear, 2) Alpine 6.5" 2-ways in custom kick pods in the front kick panels, 2) 10" MTX Subs in a custom spare tire well enclosure. I use 4 ga power wire, gold plated solid brass distrobution blocks and battery terminals. Metra 44PW-22 power antenna, and Monster cable interconnects. (RCA cables) I also Have Power windows, power locks, full alarm w/ keyless entry and a seperate DVD system w/ 7" monitor under the dash. Go to my gallery for pics of everything else. If you need help with the Z, you're in the right place brother. Welcome to the best site for everything 240Z related (not to mention 260z, 280Z and the occasional ZX) Use the Search button above for everything you need. If you can't find it there, then ask. Congrats on the car. You'll soon have your hands on a car that can be modified to do Low 8's or have about 28 MPG when tuned properly. Keep her stock or go apeshit on her, at least she's not in a junk yard somewhere. Dave.

STOP IT. I'm blushin over here. You guys always know how to make my day. Anyways, Send me a prototype and a list, then I'll do the basic research and evaluation on it. Break down the parts, delivery (S/H) availability, Percentages, etc. The switches I use(d) for the antenna switch are $2.50 each (M-OFF-M) I also use them for the power door locks and power windows. The body measures in at .550 x 1.125 I can also get the 30/40 amp 5 pole relays (TYCO brand) for $2.25 each Let me know what's up, Dave.

You'r probably thinking of the 84' Toyota Truck Non vented rotors. Not sure what the year range is for that particular rotor. I have the 84 non-vented rotor calipers on my 70. Direct bolt up, if I remember correctly. Dave.
