I hope it's not his. I just sent a bitch letter asking the seller if he was serious. It says "perfect" That fusebox is so far from perfect its not even funny. I told him that any one with two eyes can easily see the parking light fuse is melted to hell and that he should apologize and do a rewrite. $^!# like that ticks me off. If I would have recieved that in the shape it's in after being told it was "perfect", I would shove it up his A$$. But thats just me. Dave.

The only problem with that is the original rivets are round and have no way to keep from spinning while you install the screw. Also, unless the screw is just right, It will catch too hard and spin or not catch enough and not hold or fall out. The original rivets when 30+ years old are a rigid plastic that may crack or split. just my 2 cents, Dave. P.S. i'm not knocking your idea tomohawk, But I've tried that and it's more trouble than its worth. Good idea though.
  3. And to that I say, "he's correct". I have "KATS" driving lights, MiiG H-4 conversion headlights, An Alpine 80? watt deck, and a 300 watt subwoofer amp. I know for a fact that all his stereo DVD player/moniter (equipment) does'nt come close to the amperage that I pull and I have a stock alternator, battery and electrical system. I never have a problem with all that stuff on at the same time, he has a newer car than mine and his electrical is probably more set-up for it. I personally think his system will last for quite a while. FWIW, Dave. P.S. decent install, I worked at "CAR-TOYS" for 5 years and have been doing car stereo stuff since I was 16. Not a bad install.

  5. See if there is power at the coil. Try running a hot lead from the batteries (+) terminal to the (+) terminal on the coil then try to start it. If it starts, Then you might have a problem under the fuse box. Fuse will show to be "ok" but wire is disconnected or burnt under there somewhere. Could'nt hurt to try. Dave
  6. So is it a "common" motor that has easy to find parts? Or is it a motor that may be a pain in the a$$ when you need parts? Not a big chevy fan but I've considered doing a Z with the 350 in it. Especially after seeing the darius240Z site http://servinitup.com/videos/240z.mpeg
  7. I totaly agree, disconnect the stereo, start the car, while the engine is running hook up one wire at a time to see which wire is your problem.
  8. I'm still stuck on the Chevy 302, I thought Ford made the 302 and Chevy made the 305? Just pondering. Why not go with the 350? They're more common, more parts, better horse power, Etc, etc. Just my 2cents Dave
  9. From what I've heard, the company that's doing this cuts the bell housing in order to put the adaptor on.(welding or bolting required, Not sure) I'm still looking into it. When JZM gets back on, He can explain it better.
  10. I see ya typing, but all I'm hearing is blah blah blah :stupid:

I drive mine (70' 240Z) every day, every where, forwards, backwards, sideways, and every time I need to go to the parts store for more Z parts. If it were'nt for JZM, I'd probably be walking a few times a year. But I am learning to do a lot of the work myself. Dave.
  12. I should probably add that JZM is A.S.E. certified in just about every thing and has worked for NISSAN dealerships as a mechanic for many years. He is THE Z mechanic at Z-Sport in Everett, WA. If you have a question, 9.9 times out of ten, he'll have the answer. Lets all give a big welcome to JZM, he's my best friend and personal Z guroo. Dave. P.S. It's about time John.
  13. Like Will said, Don't bet on it. they are the 6-speed tranny out of a 350Z, If you have the V6 engine, this is the tranny for you. I've heard a few rumors of some company attempting to make a conversion for the L24 thru L28 engine style. If and when it happens, if my friend still has a tranny left, I'm all over that. ( like white on rice) I'll know more tomorrow. Till then, I'll be dreaming of a way to make it work on the ol' L-series. After watching that Darius240Z.com video, I'm drooling over the possebility of a BIG motor in the 240Z. http://servinitup.com/videos/240z.mpeg I play this one all the time with the speakers turned up. Dave.
  14. I'm waiting to hear back from my buddy, but he has 2) 350Z 6-speed tranni's that he is considering for sale. I figured I'd let you guys know. How much would you be willing to pay for such an Item?? tranni #1 has 1500 miles on it, and tranni #2 has aprox. 3000 miles on it. one was removed from a wrecked 350Z and the other was a factory warrenty replacement. The owner thought there was a problem with it and had it replaced, then found out that the new one had the same exact feel as the first one. therefore, nothing was wrong with it in the first place. how much would you pay if you were interested in them???
  15. Undercoating is the coating under the car. Its the Black, hard, tar based substance that protects all the metal under your Z. its the stuff that flakes off the inner wheel well when your tire explodes. Without the coating, you'd just have paint under the car and more likely, alot of rust. It can be componently broke down with gasoline. And look like oil after it drips off the gas tank.
  16. sounds like you should set it at the HOT setting to allow the valves to close all the way. Valves may not be closing all the way and causing lack of compression. Then again, I could be WAY off.
  17. Sounds to me like the tank could be sweating or have a small leak that is loosening the Undercoating on the tank. The gas is breaking down the tar in the undercoating and turning it to a sludge like material, then slowly making its way down the side of the tank to drip on the floor. If it smells like gas and looks really dark or like undercoating, Thats probably what it is. My 2cents, Dave.

THats exactly where I got my replacement tranni (a 78' 200sx) when I blew out 2nd gear racing a Firebird, I wooped him hard :hurt:. His V6 against my L20B, (4 cyl.) He did'nt have a chance. I love bigger bore, longer stroke 4 cylinders
  19. You got me all wrong Carl, That last one was'nt in defence or anything, I was just stating and not out to bitch slap ya. I would'nt do that to you of all people, Your one of my buds. Dave

When I owned my 78' 510, They came with that odd 5 speed, Reverse is where first should be and first was straight down from there. It was a GREAT tranni and even better for smoke shows "burn-offs", Roll back in reverse, then slam it down into first and drop the clutch, Instant smoke show. Man, I miss that car.
