I had NO less than 25 askers when I did the first run and decided to make a run of 50. Which sold out in 2 weeks flat. But since then, I don't think there's been another 25 because Roostmonkey finally made another batch. Dave

I already know of about 5 people or more, asking me for a mount, both privately and from here at CZCC.

So I've noticed a lot of Z cars on the sales block, on the newly set up DatsunClassifieds and have also noticed prices ranging from under $1000 to upwards of $30,000. I'm a simple guy who wants the most I can get for my hard earned money. So besides the fact and general opinion that "Your Z is worth what You think it's worth", How do I determine what my Early 72' Green 240Z is worth? I obviously plan on selling it to help pay for the finishing of the 260Z project and free up some room here at the house. So please read the following and tell me what you'd Honestly pay for this particular 240Z. Thanks in advance. 1972 (12/71') 240Z - HLS30-53007 113 Green Metalic (resprayed years ago) Possibly a Macco Job Great L24 with 142,000 (was in an Automatic tranny 240Z w/ stacks of paperwork for tuneups, oil changes and service by the original owner. *Great 4-speed Tranny *NEW 2.5" Exhaust with New turbo Muffler and chrome tip with 3-into-2 header *New front Calipers w/ new pads on freshly turned rotors & repacked bearings. *Rebuilt rear wheel cylinders, new brake shoes and freshly turned drums 14x6 Slotted aluminum wheels (bean style slots) with used tires (85% tread) *NEW Tokico HP Stuts *NEW Eibach Progressive Rate Lowering Springs w/ New Urethane Bump stops *Xenon Urethane Air Dam w/ brake cooling Ducts *Daves Headlight Upgrade Harness (HLH) *Daves Parking Light Upgrade Harness (PLH) *Daves ZX adaptor plug w/ Subaru 60 amp IR Alternator (ZXP) *AutoPal H4 Conversion Headlights with 90/100 bulbs w/ anti-vibration pads *280ZX E1280 Elec. Distributor w/ MSD Blaster 2 Coil & NGK wires & plugs *High Milage Oil and WIX filter *Honda Blower Motor conversion w/ rebuilt & painted blower housing and foam *Sidemarker Conversion to make the front sidemarkers blink like in Europe New Battery and Cables ReUpholstered Seat bottoms (SEATZ) on 280Z reclining seats with good seat backs. New Rubber on Doors & inner and 1-piece outer hatch (MSA reproduction) New 5-Piece Carpet Kit from MSA (Black Loop style) New MSA Headlight Covers (clear 3-screw allen style) New inner shift boot (rubber) Hand made outer shift boot (I made it myself) New Pioneer AM/FM/CD player New Pioneer 5-1/4" 2-way speakers in stock rear location New 4x6" 2 way speakers in custom panels in the front kick panel area. New Harada? Power Antenna (fully Automatic) FatMat sound deadener from firewall to rear riser Original Dash with 2 cracks and original steering wheel. The Whole car was "TUFF KOTE DINOL" coated at some point It's a spray on Tar Barrier that prevents air and moisture from rusting panels. The Sticker is still in the back window and TCD yellow body plugs are present throughout the car (Hatch, rear quarters, doors, doglegs, front fenders, underside of hood, etc, etc. Very Minimal rust on floors was stopped and repaired using Rust Mort (SEM) Frame rails are good Light denting on a few panels due to Previous owners and rude parking lots. Roof is dented, car sat for 15 years so who knows what happened. Hood has a front dent and scratches. Missing the "240Z" badge off the hatch ETC, ETC...... I could go on but you get the idea. It's a GREAT Daily Driver that handles well, goes great and stops even better. Very easy to start in the cold as it's well tuned and dialed in. Just took it on a trip (500 mile round trip) to Oregon "Canby" and it got about 25MPG and drove beautifully and flawlessly. So knowing what it has, and what it needs, what would you say it's worth or "What would you pay?" for this particular 240Z? Thanks for all your input, just looking for some input as I don't usually sell my Z's Dave

I've already got people asking me for R/T Mounts. Most likely due to the revival of this thread. So when and if you start a batch, let me know so I can redirect them in the right direction. Thanks for doing this, if you actually do it. Dave

WOW!! Can I use that in my advertizing?? "Better lighting, faster wiper speeds"........ Glad you're happy with it Brian. And it's also good to know that the HLH can still be mounted on a RHD Zed and just connect it's power wire to the Starter instead of the battery. Learn something new everyday.. Dave
-
Nope, that was the plan but it took till now to finally do it. It would have been almost pointless to but new shiney bullets in a rusty gun with no firing pin. Ya know? But I'm loving it now!! Dave

Not off-topic and a little late but....... I finally got me a set of New ZT SU's from ZTherapy and I'm absolutely in love with them. They are Beautiful, clean, smooth pedal action, responsive, and most importantly, Issue Free!!! A little choke in the mornings and they fire to life. Having a rebuilt motor might be a small advantage on my part but I'm sure they would work the same on my old tired motor that is now on a stand. Bruce and Steve are in the business of keeping customers happy and I don't see that changing any time soon, as I'll likely be happy with their products and service for a long time to come. Thanks again guys.. You Rock!! Dave

Actually, I used my 260Z carpet kit from MSA (71.5* to 8/74 with loop stitching (40-2583) Which is essecially a mid-240Z carpet kit as well. I use Loop carpet as it seems to be stronger and doesn't hold litter as well as the cut pile. Tyler (Z_Tyler_Z) bought a carpet kit from eBay that seemed pretty good. We used a spray adhesive to tack everything to gether and he seems pretty happy with the results. Then again, he didn't have ANY carpet or vynil to start with, so anything was an improvement at that point. Not a big fan of the carpet over the rear strut towers. Is it glued in place? How do you access the nuts on the strut tower area for service? seems kinda loose fitting and not very form fitting to me. but JMPO (Just My Personal Opinion) Dave

I second the sticker. nothing too fancy, just the simple "ClassicZCars.com" with the Circled Z somewhere on it. -
Had a great time, Camped out with everyone in the back lot. Should have brought a bigger sleeping bag though (remember for next year) Awesome weather, great people, serious case of Cotton Mouth due to not getting a break from answering questions about my 2 Z's, harness's, upgrades and all the available info on Classiczcars.com Went thru a lot of Monster Energy Drink and Arizona Tea (Sweat Tea) Got a lot of Flack from NWN about my little Puppy's 4 little paws touching the grass at the fairgrounds..... It's not like he's a full grown dog, he's as big as a large rat. No bigger than a rolled up T-shirt, and we clean up after him. Couldn't leave him at home, Duh. So we had to carry "Z" around most of the time. Of all the things to bitch about. Met a lot of Potential customers, sold one PLH and a ZXP. The rebuilt 260Z motor ran absolutely Awesome as suspected. But the best part for me was............ The great guys at ZTherapy. Steve installed and tuned my new set of ZT carbs onto the 70' 240Z. Tuned it the way I wanted it and sent me out for a test drive. I took Kurk (IBZINYA) along with me for the ride for a second opinion on the test.. The car accelerated further, faster and smoother than any other set-up I've ever had on any of my 5 Z's so far. Revved beautifully and dropped back down to a steady 750 RPM and never stumbled once. No backfires, minimal popping on decelleration, very smooth all around. I can't thank Steve and Bruce enough for all there help in setting up the swap, tuning, installing, advice and all around great business to deal with. Hope to see more of you next year and over the summer summer during other events. Dave

good to hear, if you haven't done it before, you'll likely enjoy the show, the people and all the great Datsuns. -
"UHH He's sick today" Be there tomorrow. Would have likely came today if we didn't have 5 kids, 2 dogs and uncooperative relaives, on top of STILL trying to finish the MSA Order. Would have loved to try the new motor out on a track.

As a reminder for all those SU Carb guys who'd like to see a new set of ZTHERAPY ZT carbs being installed and tuned on a 240Z..... Bruce or Steve at ZTherapy will be at the Fairgrounds in Canby, doing the above to my red 70' 240Z on Sunday, most likely. Or Saturday, not real 100% sure yet. Should be very educational for those who'd like to see it done. Hell, I'm giddy already. Got a rebuilt motor in there just Waiting for a Beautiful set of New and Shiney ZT Carbs from the great guys as ZTherapy. (This is me kissin up) Dave -
I plan to wear a Black Datsun Hat w/ checkered stripes on the right side and a Black DATSUN shirt. look for the red and green Z's together or my clothing. Wife will likely be in a White Nissan Hat and a Pink DATSUN shirt (from last years show) She'll also be sporting a small Chihuahua in her arms or on a leash. Dave

Anyone one else?? Seriously? This will be a great trip of 3 cars so far. Just figure miles by minutes. we wanna leave here (marysville) Saturday, around 12 noon, at 60'ish MPH thats a mile per minute. So if you're around exit 170 on I-5, we'll be passing there around 12:30'ish. (30 miles in 30 minutes) get it? great. So anyone else wanna join the convoy? Dave

Greg Greg Greg, Read much? Read the thread then ask questions. YES! People will still be at the rest stop this year. Just as I explained on the phone. It's still the rest stop after 282 South Bound on I-5. Be there between 9:00 and 9:30 on Sunday, as we like to leave around 9:30 to 9:45. Typically. Just just show up between 8:45 and 9:15 to be safe. Dave -
The Guide cushions are a spring loaded plastic wedge with a Black Rubber stopper/cushion in a 2 bolt metal frame.

I googled it and it looks easier to take 132, take a left onto the BLVD and follow it back around. Google puts the K-K marker over Toys-R-Us, but I figured it out. Love that Road View feature. So it's 68 miles from me so we'll have to leave before 12 to make it there by 1pm. Tyler won't speed but he better keep up. I go with the flow of traffic. If they are doing 75, I'm doing 75. To do 60mph when everyone else is doing 75 means you'll be rear-ended at one point or another. Just remember to slow down when they slow down. That's how I got a ticket last year. I didn't slow down as fast as they did. So, Anyone else wann be at the Krispy Kreme at 1pm in Tacoma, to follow us to Canby?? Dave

Why don't you and your GF (if she wants too) stop by the house on Friday. Me and Tyler and his friend will be prepping the cars for the road trip and show. You're welcome to come on over and say "HI" anytime. 6421 105th St. NE Kellog Ridge (not kellog village) Top of the hill if you come from 67th. Dave -

Bing Crosby?? introduced by Art Jarrett in the movie Sitting Pretty (1933). The music was written by Harry Revel. Yup, I guess that would ring a bell. Song and Lyrics seem to stick with people better than anything I ever learned in school. Hell, I earned the "States" song in 3rd grade and I can now recite all 50 states, in alphebetical order, in under 40 seconds. Truth!! Anyways, The motor runs great. But being as how we're taking both Z's to Canby this year, I had to pull the Webers and reinstall the SU's that originally were in it. They were in the red 70' so I had to pull those from there and put them in the green Z, then reinstall the shiney SU's back into the red Z. Apon start up, the front float bowl started to "Fountain" fuel so I shut it down. The Electric Fuel Pump was too much for it. So I had to pull the EFP and all was good after that. I think Tyler will enjoy the ride of a well tuned stock 240Z. As compared to his 280Z. -
What's the exit Number Tyler? Since Leah and I will likely be leading the pack, it'll help me make more precise plans.

Hey Kirk, Happy to have ya there. We'll be bringing BOTH Z's (green and red) but we'll show up at the fairgrounds on Sat at about 4 or 5pm. If we're up early enough, we may head over to the rest-stop to ride in with everyone else like usual. Had to pull the webers and reinstal the SU's onto the green Z, then reinstal the shiney SU's back onto the red Z so we'll both have dependable rides and Gas milage. Webers need a rebuild so there not coming with us. -

Getting closer and the weather keeps looking better. They just changed it for the seattle area to No rain on Friday and low 70's for Sat and Sun. Should be a Beautiful drive and great event. Getting giddy again. Dave
