  1. didn't mean to Jinx ya. Mine were on the drivers side so I ended up pulling the intakes and header, JUST to pound in 3 new plugs. The center one (near #4 piston) had a small misty leak to I pounded it in a little more with a 3/8 x 8" extention in the area of the leak (about 1 O:clock) BUT, aparently I did more damage, as I found a small leak under the water pump. I had blown the bearing seal and called NAPA to buy a replacement unit that I'll put in tomorrow. I'm suppost to drive this car to Canby and have a new set of ZTHERAPY ZT's put on. Hoping this is the end of the issues till I get back. Don't ned a break down between here and there (500 mile round trip) Dave
  2. Test it both ways, with and without the fuse. That will also tell you if the fuse if bad or good. Once you find power to the blue, replace the fuse then reassemble the holder and test on down the line to make sure the wiring is good all the way to the motor and or thermostat on top of the heater/blower asembly. Dave
  3. yup. Noticed it and dealt with it. Can't help it, I'm a Z guy, not enough room in my 20+ brain cells for an additional letter. But seriously, in regards to what?
  4. Carl, That shore do look pretty... Seriously. Love the dark blue. Can't wait to see her all finish and a little lower in the front end. HiBoy.. Dave
  5. exactly. The carb cleaner doesn't burn like fuel. Spraying it in will cause the engine to dip down (lower RPM) So if you spray it on the outer throttle shaft and the engine slows or stumbles, then the shafts are severely worn.
  6. I must have a 3:70 in the early 72' cause I'm right there with ZForce. (about 4000 at 80 mph) and maybe 3200?? at 60 ish
  7. With all the models of Datsuns out there, we're gonna need that picture to help ID the part. Just take a picture, save it on your computer or upload it at a site like Photobucket or something like a picture hosting site, then leave the link here for us to see it. May be complicated on your end but the sooner you do it, the better we can help ya. Dave
  8. What's that Mike, Me bitchin? or looking for a place to do it?
  9. I got 2 drivable 240Z's and I have to keep swapping between them due to issues here and there. Get's a little anoying trying to figure out which one needs to be in the garage for the next day. I know, you say "But Dave, you got 2 fricken drivable Z's, Quitcher Bitchin!!" I can't help it, I gotta vent somewhere. Dave
  10. i cant imagine how lite the steering would be at speed.. i mean the only time its hard to move is when you are going REALLY Slow and trying to park or something.. once your going over lets say 3mph you dont need it at all. Unless you're running super wide front tires, I just can't see why you would want it. No offence and please don't take this the wrong way but if you really want power steering in a sports car, maybe you're driving the wrong car. These things are rediculously easy to steer above 5mph and you actually WANT a heavier steer at higher speeds. I can just see it now.... you're at 70mph, you sneeze and end up 3 lanes over, hopefully NOT taking out a family of 5 in the process. Great Idea, but not in a 240Z. JMHO Dave
  11. Ran the motor with the new freeze plugs, only to find that the center one, near #4 cyl was tinkling on the header. So I pounded it in a little further and it's good. BUT......... I found a drip, drip, drip under the water pulley. Turns out that my water pump suffered a blow out and I think the bearing is bad. So I had to order a new water pump. I'm suppost to be getting ready for the 500 mile round trip to Canby, and I keep blowing crap up and destroying stuff. Dammit. AND. I repeat AND.... I blew a headlight tonight on the Green Bean (The 72') If it ain't 1 thing (say it with me now) "IT'S ANOTHER"
  12. Just watch Craigslist and the Classifieds here at CZCC. http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/pts/1765488190.html And you can buy figerglass reproduction bumpers as well. Dave
  13. Stock battery cables are only 6 gauge wire. They should be replaced with no less than 6 gauge but I usually suggest 4 gauge as it is larger and more readily available.
  14. Not a problem, I've sold about 10 to the U.K. and other parts of Europe for RHD 240Z's Just use the Left headlights plugs (in front of the radiator) for your input. You'll likely have to mount the relay pack on the left hand side with a self tapping screw or bolt. Basically the same instal but the Upgrade harness will be on the left side instead of the right. MSA is your best bet. They can take credit or Paypal and ship worldwide, as you already know. Dave
  15. Maybe? why, are your ears ringing?
  16. Yup, you get it now. Some owners are what we like to call "Purist" and they don't like to cut or hurt their stock wiring in any shape or form. And I totally understand and respect that. Their cars are more likely to pull in a Premium on the market, for originality and all factory-unmolested equipment. But the nice thing about my upgrades is the fact that they can use them, and go right back to stock in under 15 minutes. (for car shows, events and sales.
  17. None taken. Just figured I'd try and save you some time and keep you from cutting up your stock harness. I also realize that "Completely Unmolested" is not always an issue with all 240Z owners, so if you gotta cut it to make it better, by all means, please do so. Most people not only like my harness for what it does, but it's ease of instal and lack of harm to the stock harness. The whole process is completely reversable if needed. Just unplug it, unmount it and make the stock connections. Done. Dave
  18. Actually, I ordered 6 Brass 35mm Freeze Plugs from Napa. I tried everywhere else but nobody had them in stock. Napa has them in their Seattle Warehouse and will have them up here tomorrow morning. At $1.99 each, I figured "why not do all of the exterior plugs while I'm at it. Dave
  19. That's a great idea and yes, "Better close to home" I'd be screwed had it happened on the way to Canby. Thanks guys, 35 mm it is. Guess I could also pull the bad one and take it with me to the store for simple comparison sake. Dave
  20. WOW!! You actually pulled Both headlight buckets, cut and modified the harness and put it all back together in 10 minutes. I'm either Seriously impressed or Baffled. Not sure which. Not knockin ya or calling your bluff but 10 minutes? Seriously? Just asking. Not trying to toot my own horn or even push my products but figured I'd save him the time and heartache or tearing into his harness and the BD harness as well. If the relays ever go bad, good luck finding replacements. Dave
  21. Still waiting on a decent weather report on this end. If we go, I'm thinking the burger joint down past Safeway. Ray's Drive In Restaurant 1401 Broadway, Everett, WA 98201 Little walk up joint. decent parking for a few of us, facing Broadway.?? Maybe?? I'll think of something. Awesome car show by the way, we attend EVERY year for the last 6 years straight. Dave
  22. And a BIG thanks to Tyler for going back to the Pull A Part and getting me a gallon of "Recovered Antifreeze" and then following me home to make sure I actually made it that far. It never over heated but the dam towel that I put near the front SU, to keep the water out of the carb, got socked into the front SU.... Causing me to basically run on 3 cylinders all the way home. And he was back there sucking up the fumes of an OVERLY rich 3 cylinders and all the water going into the rear carb. Fun Times, Fun Times.
  23. So Me and Z_Tyler_Z were at the local Pull A Part stripping a 71' 240Z before they crush it tomorrow. Weirdly enough, got a couple parts for $12 and headed home. Traffic absolutely sucked, so after sitting in the driveway for 5 minutes waiting for a break, I floored it and hit about 6KRPM's and a burst of steam "Puffed" out of the hood to fender area. Nowhere to pull over till I got around the corner. The whole time, I'm thinking "Please be a hose, Please be a hose" "And not the $300 aluminum radiator" So I shut it off and popped the hood to have a steady stream of hot water shooting onto the drivers side inner fender between the coil and the strut tower. So after a closer look, I spot the colprit..... One of my freeze plugs had rusted through and the hi RPM's pushed the metal enough to finally burst the rust wall of the freeze plug. Upon further inspection, the center freeze plug also has rust on it and a small rust stain could be seen below that plug as well. So my question is, before I go and try and find 2 new plugs, is... Does anyone know the size of the Freeze plugs on my 70' L24 block?? Just wanna be prepared for the hunt tomorrow. Thanks in advance. Dave
  24. Wow INF... almost Verbatum. Thanks for the plug. Dave
