  1. Push up and down on the front end with the hood open. Watching the sway way while you do it. This should tell you if it's going to be an issue or not. If it is, Maybe a 1/4" spacer might help on the frame rail mounting points.
  2. Frank, That would be awesome!! The 3rd one isn't as nice as the first 2 but at this point, I just want a complete set. Now I gotta go get new lugnuts. The old ones are kinda OK but the washers are toast and rusted to hell. They're pitting the aluminum on the wheels. And I tried to replace all 4 on the wheel pictured above... One of them was the wrong thread but I didn't find out till it was too late, I'm pretty sure the studd will break when I try and pull it off for replacememnt. I gotta pull the rotors for turning, so I'll take care of it then. Let me know what you find. John, I Looked EVERYWHERE for those!! I searched every possible keyword, phrase, website and found only 5 ear style. Thank you. That'll come in handy if Frank can't find his. Also, I found the exact screws that came on the 72, for the center caps at the Local Co-Op. They are called Thread cutter screws. Flat head screws, tapered head with a few cuts in the tip for cutting into the aluminum. Now, Does anyone know where to find the small bulbs for the choke and defrost sockets on the fuse cover of the 72's??? I can get them from Z-Specialties but it would be nice to have a back-up plan. Dave
  3. I've spend 4 solid hours looking for these and all I can find is 5-ear center caps. I have 2 beautiful caps but the 3rd one had corrosion and the 4th does not exist (didn't come with the car) And while I'm asking for parts made of unobtanium.... The small bulbs for the 72 choke light and rear defrost on the fuse cover of the center console. Any one? Got a couple to spare? So does ANYONE know where to find the center caps or bulbs or possibly have 1 or 2 they are willing to sell? Here's what I need.......
  4. This is Bryan we're talking about here... Don't question his logic, it won't end good. :stupid:
  5. I threw those tires away. The sidewalls were cracked from being deflated for so long, and sitting on the open ground. There was moss or algae growing in the cracks of the sidewall, if that gives you an indication of how large the cracks were. OLZED... Make it 12 grand and I'll ship it to ya. hehehe After I pound out the roof and fix a few more things.
  6. Just finished up the Cardomain page for the "Green Bean" Here it is.... Please vote for me and help get the Green Bean up to the front page where she belongs..... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3847227
  7. I probably would have but I didn't have the title until Sunday afternoon. Guy in the green car must have pissed someone off at the show. Dave
  8. So the drive the other day was actually EVENTFUL!! Lost a lugnut and the other 3 were loose. Could have sworn I tightened them up. Oh well. Got 4 great used tires, drove home and gave up on the car cause the rain was coming down in buckets.. So today, I cleaned everything, Layed down new Sound deadener in front and under the seats. Ripped open the carpet I bought for the 260Z. (I ordered a new set from MSA but they were on back order, so I have a replacement set on the way when they come in). Bought some wheel ACID and went to town on the wheels and tires. Layed on the "Tire Shine" And cleaned some other stuff, fixed the sidemarkers, aimed the headlights and she's looking like a beautiful machine, minus the roof. Not bad for sitting for 15 years, on flat tires, and a couple solid days of work, to bring her back to life. Hell, I might even drive her to Canby. But I'll miss the red Z too much. Dave. **second to Last picture is of the sunset in the window, to take away from the look of the roof....** Damn Midget Parades. Last picture is my mini mechanic, she's good with a ratchet.
  9. 20 minutes, Tops. And that's going slow, dropping the 12mm wrench a few times. Dave
  10. I used to have a block of wood with a cut down the middle, to slip over the pinch weld. So I could use a regular jack in the stock jack location. The cut in the wood was Just deep enough to allow the metal to fit both the width and depth of the pinch weld steel.
  11. That's why you ask questions. To learn, and to keep me on my toes. There's no shut off in the Z system. It either works, or it don't. All the switch will do it yell at you, telling you to fix it. But that's it. The rears are split via a brass block, after the proportioning valve. Other models have a proportioning valve on the firewall. Dave
  12. I would NEVER put jack stands on the frame rails like that. Especially holding up the whole rear of the car. That's Suicide. ZKars had the best suggestion. Pockets are fine but use the rear crossmember frame, just inside of the pockets. This will spread them out and allow for movement under the car. Chock the front wheels, level ground and place your tires under the frame rail area under the seat area for a back up. Just as previously stated. Be safe. You need to survive the job, to drive the car later.... Dave
  13. I'm a big stickler for grounds. I personally have 2 gauge wires on my battery. 1) gold plated brass battery post terminal with a 2 gauge cable going to a 4 fuse Distribution block with 3 inputs, one of which has a 4 gauge wire going down to the starter. The ground wire is connected to the battery via another Solid brass, gold plated terminal. There is an 8 gauge wire from there, to the firewall's stock grounding bolt. The 2 gauge ground wire goes from the top of the battery, down to the starter/tranny bolt. There is also an 8 gauge wire from the starter/tranny bolt leading over to the stock engine harness ground bolt below the battery. I also have a 4 gauge ground wire going from the alternators mounting bolt, on the engine block over to the front crossmember's control arm bolt. (I needed a big bolt to use) The picture below was when I first did the upgrades. The 4 gauge wire heading to the battery has now been replaced with 2 gauge wire. For obvious reasons. By the way, Aluminum is Crappy for grounds or any kind of power transfer. Use Copper, tin, brass or gold plated brass or copper. Dave
  14. The larger resevoir is the front brakes, the smaller is for the rears. Yourpressure warning block apears to be hooked up correctly. Follow the large resvoirs line down to the block, it's line above and beside it should go to the front brakes. Same for the rear brakes resevoir. It's just basically there to allow a pressure sensor to be hooked up inline with both front and rear brakes, and warn you of low pressure in the system. It also acts as a divider for the front calipers.
  15. At the fairgrounds, Held by ZCCW and it's called "Meeting of The MindZ" 8/20/2010 - 8/22/2010 Meeting Details: 16th Annual Meeting of the MindZ Jefferson County Fairgrounds, Port Townsend, WA http://www.zccw.org/zforum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10 Check their whole calender on the link above. Loads of cool events that Me and Leah Occasionally participate in. Dave
  16. just remember, it's the little things, that keep our z's on the road and apart from the crowd.
  17. Got the title on Sunday, on the way home from Golden Gardens. His ex-wife found it in a file cabinet, in a place she said it shouldn't have ever been.?? Just got back from the License office with new Registration, Plates and Tabs. Bolted them on and I'm on my way out the door to take my first LEGAL drive down the road..... Wish me luck. Dave PS. Also, does ANYONE know where to find the smaller bulbs for the 72' fusebox cover, Choke light and Defrost scwitch light??? I can't find them ANYWHERE.......... Please help!!
  18. That's an easy one Bruce. 50% of the Meet is people who want to show their latest mods, new aquisitions, meet friends and show their pride in workmanship, etc, etc etc. The other 40% are those who are there to look and get ideas for their own rides, spending their sunday browsing at the best, weirdest, most outlandish Nissans that the NW has to offer. Then there's the other 10% who absolutely insist on revving their Turbo motors to 10K-RPM's and letting the crowd be supposedly "Thrilled to hear their Blow-off valves open up and say PSSSSSSS. This is ussually followed by smoke shows, burn-outs, Launching their beaters at warp speed and a couple street racers..... The cops decided to show up and make their presence known, to keep the idiots at bay. It worked for the most part. I didn't see any tire smoke, blurred visions of cars flying thru the park or the screeching sound of tires. But unfortunately, as stated before, they mda the show almost worthless to attend. They tried to pull every rule out of the book and turn the meet into an empty parking lot. It worked, I went home. Had to leave early anyways, after Leahs 2nd seizure, I had to get her home and in bed. I'm suprized my ears weren't bleeding when I got home though, she's a screamer when she has seizures. Dave
  19. That's what I'm looking for Mike. I'll take any suggestions you got. So keep an eye out for possible venues, parks, stadium parking lot, etc, etc. Maybe even a MAY date?? Don't want it too close to the Canby date Tacoma area would make it more attendable by those coming from Southern Washington or the Oregon area, and not too far for us northen cities. But not aposed to Northern Seattle to also apease the Canadian crowd. Up for suggestions. Dave
  20. Yup, big waste of time.... Between the Cops "Upholding the law of the land" and plain ol' being stupid, and because of them, the lack of parking. They wouldn't let us double park, like we've done for the last 5+ years!!!!! They were only allowing 1 car per 40 foot long RV parking spot, when we normally park 3 there. The weather wasn't too bad, it actually held out for a little while. I even saw some blue sky, once..... But I'll be honest with ya, I don't think I'll make the trip again next year. After the Police, crappy weather, lack of decent parking and way too many Turbo Blow-offs (no offence Tyler, I know you love the PSSSSST!!) I'm seriously thinking of Holding, organizing or something, A Datsun Z, 510 only Meet/Show, at the same time and date as Golden Gardens, in a different location. And I hope all of you who normally attend, or want to attend the Golden gardens meet will come to my event instead. So I'm formally inviting All CZCC members as well as any other Z/510 owners, who'd like to show up, who are tired of the crap normally associated with the Golden Gardens meet. Got a whole year to plan for it so keep it in mind for next year. Dave
  21. That's Powerful, I almost teared up just thinking about the relationship I have with my Z(s) as compared to my relationship with my wife. All 3 of us are there for each other, come hell or high water. My Wife is my life. My Z is what helped me find my wife. My wife has allowed me to get 2 more Z's beside the original. If anything is ever indangering my Z, My wife is right there, taking off the gloves and ready to defend the Z. When the hood was damaged by a drunk in a truck, She was gonna KILL that guy!! I had to calm her down and tell her, "It's just a hood, it can be replaced or fixed" but she was still intent on beating that guy to a bloody pulp, "for hurting you baby" I almost died right there. I was the calm one, after my first love was being defended by the new love. It's a crazy world, but at least I know I got both my loves, right there, to get me where I'm going, wether it be down the road, or into the future. Dave
  22. Me, Leah, Tyler and his friend will be there. I just got off Facebook, telling Tony that we'd be there. Just dress warmly and bring hot coffee. We WILL be there. From what I can gather, It's supposed to be breezy with slight drizzles or something like that early on then progressively rainier. I will be there but I won't promise how long. Bringing the umbrella as well as a hoody. Dave
  23. Yup, Tara is pretty tall, especially compared to me and Leah, at 5' 7"
  24. If I had to guess, from experience. I'd say that is the connection point in the passenger side kick panel.. Reason for my logic is this..... The room light, tank unit, sidemarker light and everything else to the right of that line (box) is attached to the rear of the car.
  25. You gonna be ther Gary??? Tony wrote me on Facebook and she said she and her sons were coming up for the event. I think I'll do it just to See everybody. Dave
