The next thing you need to clean is the Banjo filter. The banjo is the inlet tube on top of the float bowls. Pull the big (17mm or 19mm) bolt holding the banjo to the top and slowly pull the bolt and the small filter in there. Clean everything with carb cleaner, (the banjo neck, screen filter, inlet to the floats, the hose that connects the float bowls to the fuel rail on the Valve cover, the fuel rail (blow it out)-after removing the hoses on the other end near the pump and return line. This will all be a neccesary evil in the proper flow of fuel. There's obviously an obstruction of some sort and you might as well cover all your basis. New fuel filter helps too. Dave

Exactly. No metal cutting required. Just remove the metal tube (suspended by rubber) then remove the rubber. The Poly bushing will slide into the metal sleeve that ir "Mushroomed" to the Mustache bar. Dave
-
Only remove the rubber. There is no steel insert in the mustache bar, unless you're talking about the steel tube that the bolt goes thru. I drilled and burnt out the rubber, cleaned the remainder with acetone then POR15'd the full mustache bar and the round end peices in the mustach bar. Dave

It's only rude if we did'nt properly answer his question, which we did do. Hopefully he can see the Humor in the thread. I know we do. hahaha Dave

A lot of the S14 drivers seem to be very aware of what my 240Z is. And they are a younger crowd, 16 to 28? ish. Dave

It's cool, the answer wasn't going anywhere. It was just waiting for ya. Hope your turkey day was filling and eventful Dave -
After adding it all up, there are 44 spoken for. Leaving only 6 more. Just an FYI for the people thinking about it. Not sure if I'll do another run or not so I wouldn't wait too long. Dave

I'm sure someone will get to it sooner. Too many winter "In progress" projects going on. They just need to remember to grab the camera and snap a few shot. I think the best way would be to mount the diff onto the stock mount and cross member, mount the R/T into the car without the Poly bolted on. Raise the diff into place, put 2 bolts in to hold it in place and measure the distance between the top of the diff and the mounting area of the R/T Mount. Then make that measurement on the Bump stop, grind it 1/8" longer and bolt it in. Raise the diff and bolt it in, done. I would also note that the 4 bolts should be placed into the R/T when mounting it, then push up on the mount while tightening the bolts. This will eliminate any upward movement of the R/T while driving. Dave

The Float bowl valves need to be UNSTUCK. After a period of time, with no fuel in the float bowls, the valves stick or rust open. Therefore, your floats can't stop the flow of fuel and it spills out the top of the float bowl, thru the hose and into air-cleaner assembly. The car won't start cause the needed fuel is going elsewhere and the bowls probably have crap in the bottom, plugging the fuel nozzle hose that runs from the float bowls to the bottom of the carbs. So tear into the bowls, clean them out. Pulle the valve using a 10mm wrench. Remove the inner valve from the valve body, clean it and make sure it operates properly before reinstalling it. Try not to mess with the metal tab on the black float that touches the valve. As that tab is your float adjustment tab, to stop the fuel at a certain level. Happy Turkey Day. Dave

It's an Age and Interest thing. The older they are, the more likely they know what an Original Zcar is. It seems that too many people buy the New Z's for the Notariety and love of a new car, and it's cool to them. Not enough People, Now-a-days, stop to think about the "Actual History" of the car they are driving. Take for instance the Ford F-Series trucks. They've been around for over 5 decades. But the new crowd buys them cause it's a low price entry level truck with good reviews. And they likely never stop to think about it's History. I get about 3 responces out of 10 350/370Z's waved at. It's more of a simple "Peace" sign and I find it gets more attension than the "HI, I'M A PSYCO, WAVE BACK AT ME DAMNIT!!!" And at that point, they pick up their phone as to dial 911.... Some Peoples kids, go figure. Dave

Just wanted to be the first Turkey day thead for 09' So Happy Thanksgiving to All of my Breathren, Family, Friends and Customers, here at at ClassicZCars.com I'm Thankful for all the people I've met and dealt with here on this site as well as other sites. I'm thankful for all my customers and purchasers who have helped keep me and my family above water during the hard times and Holidays. I wish all of you the best of times in the years to come. And may you all be as fortunate as I have found myself to be in this life. Thank you all, Dave, Leah and the 5 kids. Oh! and Buck the dog. (Poem Courtesy of Gary Moisant) TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING, BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP. I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS, I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP. THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED - THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE, BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT. TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION, THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION. SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR, AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE. GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES, PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES. I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND, 'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND. I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY, WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND A HANDFUL OF PIE. BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES.... HAPPY EATING TO ALL - PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY, MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP. MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP. MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS. MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE, MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS!!

I just waited for the cold weather to chill the mat by leaving the garage door open all day. Then I used a body hammer with the pointy end on it and it snaps out like Peanu Brittle, as said above. Then follow thru with a putty knife for the small bits that are left. The first 2 pics show the after, of removing with cold weather and a pointy happer and also show the Rust Mort white residue that I later cleaned up. The 2nd 2) show the Duplicolor Truck Bed liner over the POR15 and welded holes. I cut out the rust and weled in Patch panels, then undercoated the under side, then was able to POR15 the rusted area's then coat the whole floor with the plastic/Rubber truck bed coating. It's basically a Pool Liner now. Water will never touch bare metal on these floors. And as soon as I have the Money, I'll be laying down 76 square feet of Dynamat Xtreme on the Floors, firewall, back wall behind the seats, a little inside the tool boxes, the rear hatch floor, inner doors using strips and outer doors using a full sheet, as well as the rear quarters and Sprayable Dynamat in the doglegs and in the lower kick panels below the doors. Sure, there will be extra weight but it'll be a beautiful thing. Quite enough to not yell over road noise and exhaust sound. Quiet closing solid sounding doors. Louder stereo due to less sound loss due to noise and vibration. It'll be like a new car. But it better be after $300 in Dynamat, spray, truck bed liner and filler in the quarters. Dave

It's my Pleasure to do this for you guys. Every one on the list with an "Order Sent" next to their name, should have their mount by Saturday or Monday, as it was all shipped "Priority Mail" So MERRY CHRISTMAS, Happy Hanukkah, Quanza, Happy Birthday, etc, etc. Just dropped $220 at the Post Office and that's not even Half of the R/T's. It'll be much more than that for the rest of the orders and the UK and Canadian orders. I got paper cuts from all the wodding of newspaper and filler for each of the 21 that went out today. Also used over 2 rolls of box packing tape. Yeah fun. Dave
-
All orders for USA are going out in 5 minutes to the Post Office. I'll be doing the Canadian Orders and The UK order on Friday. See Post #114 Heading to the Post Office, Dave

Powerglide, Check is fine at this point but anything other than cash or USPS Postal Money order or Walmart Money Order cost me $5 to cash. So one of those 3 would be best. I put you on the list........ bpilati, You're also on the list.. To the last four entries... Please confirm with me via email or PM when you have mailed the Payment... I need to pay these off within the next 20 days or I'll get a late fine. Thanks again guys. This makes 41 with only 9 left........ BTW. I'm on my way out the door to go pick up the R/T Mounts and bring them back here to start packing them up. YEAH!!!! Dave
-
I just bolted them on to take the picture. The shape of the Porsche front bumper and the rear of the Z are very similar. I got the rubber blocks for $4 each so even if they failed to do what I envisioned, it would'nt be a big loss. I was going for the 300ZX look and think it's close, minus the big bumper. They will also look very different when the car is painted. Going for a Chevy Orange (Block color) Same as the engine pictured below. So here's a few during and after bodywork shots. And a few of the motor that help give an idea of the color that the car will be. Camera doesn't quite do it justice. Dave
-
They're just slapped on there but will be straightened out later. I just wanted something different. Yet still kinda functional. The holes are drill just below the Frame rail that goes across the back and also uses the stock bumper bracket holes. We all know that getting rear ended will kill the back end either way, but at least it's different. Thanks, Dave
-
I'll mark you both down for one. Wal-mart M.O.'s are fine. Thanks guys, Only 10 left. Dave
-
You're obsessed with POR15!! Yes, I basically dipped my 260Z in it, but you need help. They have a mindight meeting down at the local church. Need a ride?? My POR15 is stiffer than a Lawyer who had too much Viagra for lunch. Dave
-
Don't worry about it. I'll cover it this time. Just keep me in mind later down the road (upgrades etc) Got the mail today. Just 1 peice from Nigel in the UK. Thanks man. Dave
-
Well, went to pick them up tonight but they were still too hot to handle. I've already taped and labeled 24 boxes (would have been 27 but ran out of tape) and will pick up the mount tomorrow morning, box them and get them to the Post Office. I want these things delivered before Thanksgiving day. Any orders that come in tonight may or may not go out tomorrow, but Will go out on Friday. There's your update for the day. Mail hasn't showed up yet (we're the last neighborhood on her route) but when it gets here, I'll update post #114. Oh ya, only 12 left as of this post (see date and time on upper left) Dave
