  2. I can't wait for the states first natural disaster. He will be able to step out of a helicopter smoking a cigar. After surveying the situation he can deliver action movie lines like, "Coliforneea is on fire. GET OUUUT!"
  3. I believe K Speed is out of business. Go to the home page and read his quote. I think you can buy 16X7 in a one piece much cheaper than a 3 piece C8. If you can't get gold, paint it:classic:

  5. That's one of those optical illusion pictures! If you stare at it long enough, a Z car appears.:cross-eye
  6. I am interested in the hood and hatch and have sent you an e-mail.

  8. Hi Christopher, You will appreciate two of my favorite automotive moments while working as a T.V. videographer. Both happened at Sears Point raceway in the 80's. The first was to spend a day with Bob Bondurant on and off the track. Yes I own Grand Prix. The second was my favorite. Jackie Stewart (A childhood hero) was giving media rides in a prepped Merkur. I struggled against the lateral g-forces holding my camera while Jackie kept the car in perfect balance with throttle and brake, all the while holding the steering wheel with just his fingertips and thumbs. And my favorite quote "Now remember Steven, You have got to be smooth." (Add Scottish accent)
  9. I'm another Steve and I am addicted to the Speed Channel. 47 yrs. old, married 20 yrs. and have two daughters 10 and 8. I have two 240Z's from 1973, the same year I graduated high school. Both the green and orange Z have been autocrossed on and off when the money allows. I have been a T.V. videographer for 23 years. My cars for the past 31 years include a '65 Corvair Corsa, '66 Corvair Monza, 71 Opel station wagon, '81 VW Scirroco, '76 Jaguar XJ V8 conversion , 2 Datsun 510 two doors, 2 Datsun 510 wagons, 2 '71 Datsun 240 Z's and the current '73 Z's. We have a family mini-van and I drive a company Ford van for work. I commuted in the green Z for several years but it is way to crazy now with all the 5000 pound SUV's that can't see a lowered 240. So now both cars are becoming dedicated track cars. One autocross, the other open track. I probably will be selling the autocross car to finish the track car. Too much of a good thing!

The same flares that I have. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=4094&password=&sort=7&thecat=500 They are called "280YZ" and are sold by John Washington at www.reactionresearch.com They are very wide and can fit 12 inch wheels when you have coilovers.
  11. Here is a pic.
  12. Without a full roll cage tied into the rear strut towers, you cannot remove the rear quarter panel or you will seriously compromise the unibody's strength. When I flared my two Z's I removed the springs and moved the suspension up to determine how much to cut out of the inner and outer fenders. After cutting the fenders I pounded up the inner fender, added a curved rod where the inner and outer fenders met (to make it easier to weld) and welded every inch or so. Do not continuously weld or you will warp the outer panel. (Don't ask how I know this). I trimmed off the excess inner fender and painted. I also had the gas tanks out when I did this.

Check out http://www.gtzilla.com/ . He is looking for crew help.
  14. When you are back in Texas and decide to try autocrossing your Z, be sure and check out events where Tom Holt races.. A great guy with an amazing car. http://www.ccsi.com/~tholt/ As far as California's diversity, many people find it challenging while I prefer to look at it as what America is truly about. I work in one of the most diverse cities in the U.S. (Sacramento) and value the experiences and lessons learned from different cultures and points of view. Having traveled around the world in my job I certainly understand the joy of going home. Congratulations and thanks for serving in the military. I have been to Texas, been drunk in Texas and had a great time, but I was glad to go home too. Steve
  15. Don't forget, we get mad finding one rust spot the size of a nickel in the floorboard of our Z or that the world's largest gathering of Z's is in California or the autocross season starts in January in the Bay Area. Kind of makes some of our other sins liveable.

My brother considers the occasional ticket part of the cost of the car. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=3434&papass=&sort=1&thecat=500
