4th Annual Z convention
I think this kit was called the Primadonna Z. It looks way over the top now but remember in the 80's, with the Ferrari Testarossa. the Lamborghini Countach, and all the Koenig supercar tuner body kits this was right in step. It does look like positive camber up front. Perhaps it aids in takeoff.

Found some cool videos
A couple of the autocross videos (with the air museum in the background) look like McClellan air base in Sacramento. We lost that site this year and are at Cal Expo. The air base was great because some events were asphalt and some were concrete runways. Before the base was decomissioned, one event, Marines were sliding down ropes from helicopters a few hundred yards from the course. A real guy moment. The brushed concrete was extremely grippy and was where I went up on two wheels in a corner. That is when I got a rollcage.

pre flaring
Hi Jeff. Would you know how much your wheels weigh? Looks great. What kind of flares are you going to use?

4 cylinder convertible
For the horsepower you could call Rebello Racing and find out. It had side draft Mikunis and a wonderfull growl on acceleration. With the engine set back, the balance on the car was awesome. He had a roll cage linked to all strut towers and x bars in the doors. It was very light and by the end of the season he even replaced the windshield with Lexan. This was a few years back, but he ran in the Open Street Prepared class the San Francisco SCCA region runs.

GTP at Sears Point
No. I took this when they were new. Using a magnifying glass it looks like Morton's name was above the door. I am not sure on the date.

Goodbye sunroof
I have a donor roof and will get an air flanging tool. Love the grid idea. Thanks for all the ideas everyone. Anyone else have any experience or tips before I get in over my head.... roof... over my head... get it. Sorry, I'm just glad to be getting help.

Goodbye sunroof
The alignment of a complete roof chop is way beyond me. I think I will try removing the "skin" off the donor car roof by drilling all the spot welds. If there are many hidden attachment points then your plan sounds good. P.S. low resolution digital cameras make cars look better in cyberspace than in reality.

Goodbye sunroof
I am about to replace my roof on the "green" 73 240Z because I can't stand another day with the sunroof. I am trying to find someone who has actually done this for advice. I have seen the whole top chopped off and another rewelded on. I already have a donor roof. It looks to me like I may be able to just drill out the spot welds, cut the outer skin at the pillars, and the roof skin would come off. Am I dreamin'? "Too much sun in California" Steve

autocross 73 240
Funny you should ask about that. That car has a new roof about to be added. Also a 280 vented hood (bonnet) and a BRE rear spoiler are on it now with paint soon to come. I autocrossed with that sunroof for several years with no signs of cracking any where. A rollbar is in the works. The Orange car has a rollcage because I put it up on two wheels at one event.
