  1. Same "basic" body shell 240/260/280Z but there are subtle, mostly invisible differences. The lower cladding is aftermarket, or dealer installed. Not factory. Looks like a great car.
  2. Oh me like too! For some reason side drafts are sexy! This below is one of my favorites from my 240Z set. It was taken with a $10 wide angle adapter on a $10 lens. Not a great shot technically, but it just speaks to me.

  4. Andy, I like those candids. Very nice captures. My Canon 20D has a function to eliminate shutter shake maybe you have it in your cam also. Very handy for those long, night exposures.
  5. I tend to keep my long lens on the SLR body because things that I usually shoot with the long lens, are time sensitive, like an Eagle, or a Jet...something with a small window of opportunity. I use my Point and Shoot about as much as I use the SLR, unless I am set on doing something truly printable, or need speed.
  6. Yes Arne, I carry a backpack of heavy DSLR gear when I intend to go shooting. OTOH, I ALWAYS carry a tiny Point and Shoot digital, capable of HD video. Most times, the best opportunities are not when you intend them to be. A decent Point and Shoot can capture a moment as well as anything. Initially I felt guilty about processing my digital stuff, but when RAW came around, you had no choice but to process the shots, digitally. I enjoy the processing now as much as the shooting.
  7. I stink at photographing people for some reason. I just can't get it right. I started with an Olympus C2500L (classic digital slr) and now shoot with an old Canon 20D. My lenses are 50mm f2.8 prime canon, 50mm macro canon, 18-70 sigma, 80-400 sigma stabilized. I shoot almost everything in RAW and JPG simultaneously. I process my favorites from RAW in either PS or Capture One. Those shots above look great. I love that 500mm dove and the wedding shots. I learned a lot by following the greats over at photoblink.com. It's a strange site but the photos are nothing short of amazing.
  8. Yup...I still don't know what I like to shoot best, but I think my forte's are nature, and vehicles of all sorts. I've been shooting SLR digital for about 10 years. I never shot SLR film. Here is where I keep some of them: http://dcerutti.smugmug.com/
  9. Yup another Winter project. I have seen yours and it's a nice piece. I'll keep it in mind for when I pull the trigger.
  10. UPDATE: The park/tail/dash lights began to fail again occasionally, and would return by wiggling the fuse. The fuse was getting very, very, hot. It turned out to be that the metal fuse clip itself had become annealed from the heat over the years, and my re-soldering of the lower wire connection. There was no spring tension left in it to bear down on the fuse. It could no longer hold the fuse tightly. I cut two lengths of silicon vacuum hose about 1/4"+ in diameter, and as long as the fuse. I wedged them on either side of the fuse clip, parallel to the fuse. The pressure from the silicon tubing, presses the clip tangs tightly into the fuse for a great connection. No more heat, and reliable lights! I see it as a great temporary solution until I can get a new fuse box.
  11. Have you heard of Hybridz.org? May I steer you in the right direction?
  12. Yeah sure...we know why you clicked on that... Whenever I use a wooden wedge, I drive a screw into the top of it and fasten a length of wire so that if it does drop, I can yank it out. It also serves as a reminder to remove before flight. Get your minds out of the gutter!
  13. Yeah I need AWD just to get traction on the salt most of the time. Not kidding.
  14. Is the cam gear still in position #1? Maybe he was adjusting the cam gear positions to compensate for an old chain. But if he was that, nitpicky, he woodn't have left the wood in there.
  15. Hey, how are you? Haven't seen you in a couple of years. Still driving the convertible around? I thought you gave up on the Z cars but I saw your name in the list of people reading the forum right now and thought I would say hello.

    Regards,

    Dave Cerutti

  16. Thumbs up on the Budgie. Great stuff! Been a Rush fan since I got the Moving Pictures cassette around its release. I played it on my old-school tape recorder until I figured out how to twist wires to a mini-jack and have the mono recorder sound output to two wall speakers that I had found in the dump. I have seen every tour since then.
  17. RUSH RUSH RUSH Rush - Red Barchetta " Here is an excerpt of the lyrics. "Wind In my hair Shifting and drifting Mechanical music Adrenaline surge... Well-weathered leather, Hot metal and oil, The scented country air. Sunlight on chrome, The blur of the landscape, Every nerve aware." Other greats: Van Halen - Panama, and Unchained Metallica - Fuel Boston - Cool the Engines Steppenwolf - Born to be Wild off the top of my head.... Neither of my Z's has a radio though, so I listen to the tune of L.
  18. Could be an assembly line "repair job".
  19. That is some rough water right there. Nice find. Looks like it has minimal rust and most of its original paint. Might be worth something. List it on ebay yet?
  20. Hagerty let me choose a bumper of my choice with an allowance of about $700 for it. They offered to work with the restoration shops parts specialist, but before they let the hounds loose, I found one on ebay as a re-chromed original for $400, I called all the parties involved, they approved, and I bought it, and delivered it to the shop. Finding a NOS one would be tough and expensive for sure.
  21. Yup Hagerty helped me find the correct parts that I wanted. Not the 76 bumper, but a 72 bumper like the one I had on my 76 when it got hit. Good luck with the dealings.
  22. Manuals. You can Paypal me $100 for this info. ;-) or of you are rich $1,000,000 Joking of course...unless you are. http://www.xenons30.com/reference.html
  23. Mine does the exact same thing. No corner lights or tails. Open the fuse box cover and wiggle the third fuse down on the right. It always fixes mine. I need to firm up the crimp connections under the fuse box soon. If they remain loose for a while, they heat up and melt the plastic in the fuse box. Cycling the switch on and off until they work is not proof that the problem is in the stalk.
  24. Back to the future. Bear in mind that these are early 320i sport package seats in a 280Z. BMW/recaro seat and 280Z seat rails with home built adapter plates.
  25. FWIW, I had a similar issue on my 240Z and it turned out to be a loose/old/bad connection in the fuse block pigtails. A disconnect/reconnect solve it.
