I'm not saying that people who put non-nissan engines in their zeds are wrong or anything like that. I agree it probably is the best bang for the buck. especially when upgradeing the engine. Allot easier to get sbc parts than jdm engine parts, and prolly cheaper too. it just doesn't feel right.... but that's just my opinion, thake it for what it's worth.

i don't know. a sbc may have the best bang for buck factor with this type of swap, but it's still a chevy engine in a datsun. if i was going to swap anything it would be either a sr20 or rb. plenty of guys have done this swap, so there is pllenty of info on how. plus it's a nissan engine in a nissan chassis.

you wouldn't have to convert to FI, but it is recommended for better performance.

yeah, all of the fluids are emptied. thanks for the help. if it is a 4 speed, does the 5 speed bolt on or will i have to modify anything?

Hey guys, I have a 75 280z that I am restoring. I know the car is a manual because of the clutch, but I do not know if it is a 4 or 5 speed. The previous owner drained all fluids and such before I bought it, so I can't just shift through all of the gears to find out, plus there is no shift knob. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i have 75 280Z that i plan on keeping the stock motor in. I plan to use the MSA stroker kit and run some boost on it also, and wanted to know what others have used fuel management on the non carburated motors. I believe the 75 is fuel injected (correct if i am wrong), but not electronically controlled. I am more used to fuel systems on newer cars and this is the first time I have modified a car made before 1994. any help is appreciated.

there was a thing on a show called Trucks once where they showed how to install a shaved handle kit and it didn't really look all that difficult and it could pretty much be applie to any vehicle.

not to sound like a n00b or anything but that was the car that got me into 240z's. i was familiar with 510's and the likes but not the 240z before that. after reading the article i did all kinds of research and have been a fanatic since.
