I have a sound like a bad bearing in the rear end of my 260z. The sound is not consistant. It gets worse at certain speeds. I just had the differential changed, because the mechanic said that was the problem (not)! The sound is still there. He said the u joints on the half shafts, and the wheel bearings seemed ok. Any ideas?

what kind of gear oil goes in the 260z differential?

I need to replace the automatic transmission and differential in my 260z. I want to stay with an automatic. How do I figure out what is in the car now? Do I need to stay with what it has? Or is there an optimal combination that will be a direct bolt in?

I have filled the fluid, but I did notice fluid coming out where the drive shaft fits into the tranny. Any way to test torque converter with tranny in the car? James, If this is going to end up being a rebuild, I may be interested in that tranny offer from the 280zxt, if it will fit.

I have very little reverse in my auto trans. I thought I read somewhere about a module going bad in the transmission that could cause this. I hate to have it rebuilt if this can fix it. And how would I know if this module is the problem?

Does anyone know of a kit for sale or a way to fix the headlights so you don't have to pull everything out under the wheel well to change the head light? Something where you can just plug in a new bulb like new cars have.

In the winter I can't hardly get my 260 to go till it has been driven for about 30 miles. The carbs have been switched over to 1972 SU's, and it has the single air filter on each carb.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Does the maxima tranny bolt right up to everything without any modifications to other parts? Unfortunately I don't know how to work on my own car, and someone else is doing this work, so I want to make sure I know what is going on.

I need an automatic tranny for my 260z. Can someone tell me what year trannys will work in it. I also need a new differential. What would be the best gear ratio for the auto trans? I'm not interested in a manual swap. My wife can't drive a manual.
