  1. The carbs are the round tops -- some of the first ones from Z-Therapy and the only pump in the system is the rear one. Since there is no fuel pressure now and there was enough to get me 20 miles from home, it's time for a new pump. I'll call around to check on availability for the unit Carl mentioned --
  2. Greetings all -- The pump on my '73 (rear electric pump, standard SU's, pretty much stock except for 280-Z distributor) has effectively given up the ghost - car ran great, then silence, followed by cursing. Dropped a new see-thru filter in and the pump could not fill it (and the pump was turning over - sound was "normal" and there was a tiny amount of gas bubbling in the filter). So -- what should I ask for - specs / makes /etc. Any info would be helpful. Steve Bloom

Greetings all - When the battery needed replacing on my '73, I installed a cutoff switch on the firewall, got a new battery cable made up and bought a battery with the the hot contact out from under the fender. Since the car has a single electrical pump (at the tank), I dropped a two-position toggle switch into the pump line such that in run mode power goes to the pump and in safe mode it lights up the seat belt reminder light (which also reminds me to switch to run mode). The switch is hidden and in reach of the driver. In 'Safe' mode, there is enough gas in the carbs to run maybe 90 sec - enough to get into traffic and stall out -- I prefer to pay towing to seeing the last of my beast.
