ten reasons why!
If your Z is busted you can fix it, and how many Z's can't be driven for one week in every month......

man of the year
Rusty is outside, messing about in his shed. I think most of you guys are whipped, just like my husband. Rusty should know better than to go outside when he is logged on. Signed, Mrs Rusty, Aka Kazza, Queen of darkness.

Hey Gav... Surely this is a Volvo free zone..... The only reason I have a 2+2 is because my wife won't let me have a 2 seater (yet..... but I am working on the theory that I need a 2 seater as a parts car). In future don't pick on guys less forunate than you...(surely you are not seatist.) (seatist is like racist, except it is against the number of seats in your ride...)

It concerns me (not greatly but still I am concerned,) that the only guys to have lines for this picture are from Oz. What is the matter?.... Don't you yanks drive when you are full as a fat lady's undies? (In Victoria we have "Booze Buses" Modified Winebago's that stop and test drivers for their blood alcohol concentration. If you are ever stopped, tell em Rusty sent you. It won't help but tell em' anyway... )

Victor, that must be a helluva view when there are no fires that you have there..... Victoria (Oz) has it's fair share of bushfires. The really scary part is that the majority of our firefighters are volunteers, who dedicate their spare time to fight these fires. The really scary part is that a few (might I add the majority of volunteers do a fantastic job) have been caught lighting fires. The only reason for this is obviously some bizzare sexual urge that defies explanation. My opinion is that anybody caught lighting bush (or forest as you guys call them) fires should be hung by their testicles until they die. P.S. A close friend of mine once caught a volunteer fire fighter lighting a bush fire. He is still in prison. Who said the law don't work.....

ten reasons why!
This one is for you St.Stephen.... Ten reasons why Zeds (or Zees) are better then women.... 1. Your Z will never say no. 2. Your Z will not get jealous if you look at other Z's 3. It is o.k. for other guys to ogle your Z. 4. There is no problem in lusting after another mans Z. 5. The older your Z gets, the better it looks. 6. No man will call you a p**** for spoiling your Z. 7. It is o.k. for another guy to service your Z. 8. Z's love to be driven hard. 9. You can not touch your Z for a month and it will remain faithful. Most importantly.... 10. A Z is sexy, period.

Starting a sitting motor part.2
Anybody able to explain, the symptoms you mention for a coil on it's way out.... Does it run rough intermittently when warm or constantly? I have been chasing a fault with mine where 20% of the time when cruising at 100 (K's not miles) I can feel a misfire in the engine. It also has a really bad lag when accelerating away from a standing start, it feels like the engine almost cuts out for a second or two. The car usually runs well when cold. I figured that this was probably fuel, as I have replaced most of the electrical components (points, leads, rotor button, dizzy cap and plugs with no success, the coil is the only bit left. I am getting the carbs done next week. Anybody recognise this fault?

stock Zs, 240s especially
Stock zeds are rare, I recently asked the members on this site for their opinions on whether I should modify my stock 260 or restore it. The answer was unanimous, keep it stock.... The only problem now is where can I get an original am radio and alloy wheels. Gav makes a good point, parts are much easier to locate and the driving experience will be better in a modified car but there is a timeless beauty in an original classic. Now I just need another zed to mess with....

Classic or Custom
I think that you guys have pretty much confirmed what I already knew. The GLW would approve of buying another Z to customise but I would have to sell the bike, I am not ready for that sort of commitment yet.:classic:

Classic or Custom
Guys, I am interested in your opinion on what I should do with my zed. I spent the last six months looking for a reasonably rust free 260 2+2, Like anybody I would prefer a 2 seater but the GLW (Good Lady Wife) did not want to exclude our kids. To cut a long story short I settled on my current car, a 74 2+2, standard except for wheels. I traded off the fact that it was an auto for the lack of rust. It has the usual cosmetic rust but nothing in the floor/firewall/doors etc. The original plan was to fit a 5 speed and respray the car to a more pleasing color (it is light metallic blue with white interior), and then slowly trick up the suspension, brakes, engine etc. My dillema is this, the car has original books, original service history, matching numbers, even the original ignition and door keys. The rego plates are original, and I think the original spare tire has never been used. The car even came with the tool kit complete with wheel chocks sealed in their original plastic bag. What does everybody think, Is the car more valuable restored the car to original specs and should I look for another one to modify, or should I just modify the current car? I would be interested in your opinions. I cannot decide.

RPM or DISPLACEMENT
Sorry but I have absolutely no idea how much you can bore your L24. What I can conform is that you are correct, stroking an engine reduces revs. There is a speed (dont ask me what that speed is) where any piston will self destruct, a longer stroke means higher piston speed at equivalent R.P.M. Longer stroke generally increases torque. For example a long stroke 2.6 will have more torque but rev lower than an engine with a shorter stroke but larger bore of the same capacity. But dont take my word for it, I am not an expert.

please help with electrical probs
Another tip with the turn signals, get a spray can of electrical contact cleaner and give the turn signal switch (internals not the stalk) on the steering column a liberal coating. My zed had not been used for several months when I bought it and this was all that I needed to get them up and running.

How about this car??
If I had a dollar for every time a seller has assured me that his car was free of rust, only to find that the car in question was as full of it as it's owner I would have at least ten dollars... Seriously it is a sad fact of life that some sellers (not all) take generous liberties with the truth (they tell big fat smelly lies). The car may be rust free but you would be well advised in having an open mind about the accuarcy of a sellers claims.... (there is still the problem of the car having a steering wheel where the glove compartment should be)....

How about this car??
The biggest problem with judging a cars condition from a photo is that you can only see what the owner wants you to see.... Notice there are no close up photo's of common rust areas or the dash pad! Even the picture of the engine bay does not show the battery area or firewall in sufficient detail. I can't comment on the price but it is fair to say that the car will still need some work, it all depends on how much (or how little) you want to do and spend... P.S. It looks like somebody put the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car:stupid:

Are L26 exhaust manifolds prone to warping.
Thanks Mike, I will try it and see how it goes, although I will probably try to replace the broken stud at some stage.

Starting your car
Halz, I find the best way to start my 260 is to use 3/4 choke and no throttle until it fires up, I let it idle for a minute or so at 2000 before turning the choke off. Although if it doesn't start after the first or second attempt it floods and then I tunr the choke off and hold my foot flat on the gas until it starts. My advice may be wrong as my car runs like a piece of crap most of the time......

Are L26 exhaust manifolds prone to warping.
Hi guys, I recently bought a 260z 2+2 (the +2 is because I have +2 children). The car is original and the engine has been reconditioned. There is a slight exhaust leak at the rear of the manifold and the rear stud is missing from the head. My mechanic thinks that a previous owner may have removed the stud to fit the manifold back on as it is possibly warped out of shape. Before I pull everything apart does anybody know if this is a common fault with the L26? Also can any Oz members adivse, is $150 au too much to pay for a set of second hand extractors.
