AC Pulley - Impact Wrench
Hi, For my '70 240Z... I used an impact to remove the bolt that holds on the AC & Crank pulley. I'm assuming I use the impact wrench to put it back on too. Am I correct? I just don't want to damage anything. :nervous: Thanks, Steve

New to the forum...
I concur... this is a great site. The folks here are very generous with their knowledge. I’m always asking a bonehead question and no one’s make fun of me. Well not yet anyway. :stupid:

OT: Honey Bee to be hacked on Monster Garage
That's why I don't watch that show... it's sooo wastefull. It made me sick to see them chop a pristine '70 ish El Camino 396SS and make a flat track racer out of it. WHY!!!?

Yamaha
My dad kept my '75 Yamaha DT 125 in storage all these years. He brought it down to me about 1-1/2 years ago along with the '70 240Z he had in storage. Well, the Yamaha wasn't running and so I gave it to my then 16 year old son. The boy got it running before I got the Z running. We live in a perfect area for an enduro motorcycle and every once in a while I'll take it for a spin in the desert. It's a lot of fun and brings back some great memories.

hummer
Did you try those web sites that have lists of goverment vehicles for auction? We have an large military base here in Albuquerque that I checked on about a year ago. They had lots of trucks for sale but I don't remember any humvees. Just my 2 cents... I go off road fairly often and Hummers / Humvees are too wide for the trails. Even my 4x4 Dakota is too large sometimes. You could buy a Jeep Wrangler or CJ and out fit with all the goodies; lockers front and rear, lift kit, big tires, body armour, winch... and it would be better on the trails than a Hummer for a lot less money. But I do admit, Hummers are cool.

Guide on crank pulley?
Is there a guide on the crank pulley that insures that you get it back on in the correct position so the timing marks are still valid?

AC pully removal
My '70 Z had dealer installed AC. There's an extra pully mounted on the crank in front of the regular pully(s). I removed the two small bolts that were there and put a gear puller on it. Can I just crank on the gear puller now and pull it off? Is seems to have more resistance than I expected. Thanks

Old commuter car question
I know this is off subject, that's why I'm posting it here. I'm hoping someone can help as I know many of you are good mechanics. My commuter car is a '85 Camry with 213,000 miles. It has fuel injection. It idles fine but won't run when I give it gas. I've replaced the distributor cap, rotor, wires, plugs, vacuum advance, and fuel filter. Any suggestions other than get another car, which I plan on doing but am saving up until next spring. Thanks

Is the 240z.org email list active? I haven't seen anything come through on my email for a long, long time.

Is the 240Z mailing list working?
I haven't received any email on the 240Z.org email list for the last few days. Also, I posted a couple of questions but they didn't seem to go through. Is there something wrong with the list, or maybe the problem is on my end?

Water Pump hardware - 240Z
For a 1970 240Z... What are the size of the bolts that attach the water pump to the block? I believe that there are 5 bolts and 3 different sizes. Thanks, Steve

Hub Caps
Oh well, I'm not too worried about the hub caps for now. Eventually I may replace them, but the ones I have are OK. I bet the original ones fell off the car and the PO went to the Datsun dealer and that's what they had in stock. I like the rims that are on your car; maybe I'll save up for a set of those. The car has other little issues that need attention now, new brake hoses, water pump that leaks, a fuse that keeps blowing....:cross-eye

Hub Caps
Well, if that's so, then my car doesn't have the original hub caps. It was built in July 1970 and has the "Z" caps.

Hub Caps
My '70 240 has hubcaps with a "Z" in the center. I notice that some Z-car hubcaps have a "D". Is there info with regards to what years have what caps? Thanks, Steve

So, that color is "920 Gold". That's my favorite Z color but I didn't know what to call it. Wow, very nice car.
