Just started on my 'refresh' of my 280z (Frame Rail question)
This is a pic of the baddog frame rails we put on during my R-230 diff. conv. They fit right over my exsisting rails (which had no rust) and were skip welded. They are a fine product... LARRY

So what does your Z sound like!?
You might have to register on HybridZ.org to view that video but billramsey2002's post said he did so I don't know. I read the uploading rules here on videos and 10mb is the file limit but every time I tried to upload a video it would not work and my file size is less than 10mb??????...... There must be a video upload problem or the file size limit is less than 10mb...... LARRY

Inspection lid rubber cushion
Those are the 3 rubber bumpers that are on each side. Lift the lid and in the channel you will see the rubber cushions ( one on each side) as I described in the above post...... LARRY

Inspection lid rubber cushion
If you go to page 220 of that book the "rubber cushions" are Item 7. There is one on each side and they are on the top of the lid channel and the same length as the metal tab that is bent up. LARRY

New sidepipe install pic.
Thanks for the comments..... As far as ground clearance goes I have 4 1/2" which isn't bad, the main thing I have to watch out for is speed bump height in parking lots. I have to take more care with the front air dam hitting parking space cement stops than the side pipe issue.... LARRY

Wireing on a '73 Z I need some help
Using the Auto Zone wiring diag. the relay you refer to is called a intermittent amplifier and is shown in fig.10 for the 74 260Z. To me US models didn't have this feature until the 74 260Z model and the combo switch is different then the 73 240Z and they're more wires going from that relay then just a yellow one... http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/1d/1d/80/0900823d801d1d80.jsp LARRY

New sidepipe install pic.
For those who are interested, this is my set-up..... 1 5/8" headers to 2 1/2" mandrel bend exhaust with the collector moved to a horizontal position. The frame rail was notched and strengthened and a flex joint was added. The sidepipes are 3" and are the modified 60" PATRIOT pipes. The pipes are mounted on hangers for ease of removal and I have 4 1/2" ground clearance. LARRY

Konig Rewinds
Thanks for the comments.... As far as the weight of this car ,it's 2920 lbs without me in it. Control and tire spin is more of a concern now then total weight.....I'll be near 600 hp and ft lbs of torque at the crank after JULY.... LARRY

Konig Rewinds
I'm watching the Eagles Farewell 1 Tour on tv and it's got my juices flowing so here's a little rant... I own a stock 72 240Z, 74 260Z, 80 280ZX and the 75 280Z featured in this thread. Although this is not the modified forum, I felt more people would get to see what has to be done to mount these wheels. My 75 has a 355 SBC V-8 with a HOLLEY 144 blower at 10 lbs boost. It's a torque monster now. I'm swapping in the R-230 LSD diff from a 91 300ZXTT next week and in JULY I'm putting in 195 AFR heads with a 25 shot of NOS. A 6 point roll cage will also be added. DAMN..... In the 2 years I've owned this car and done the conversion and with the added changings, my budget is passing $30,000 on this car. So...... Paying $35 if I need a new set of caps is not even on my radar scope as it pertains to spending for parts on this car....... LARRY

Konig Rewinds
Let me say this ...It's a crap shoot. Do as I outlined and skip the glue and loose a cap and drive around with missing cap/caps and have to reorder new ones or do it the way I explained..... Now you know why I was "Mad As Hell" and I'm not going to use the original ones by hammering on the spindle cap as I have read elsewhere.... LARRY
