Don't much care for pin striping on the sides of the Z but I think it looks OK around the buldge on the hood. I guess pinstripes and flames really don't belong on the Z car. If you look at a BP it does look kind of "busy" with all that striping. Vicky

Only ticket I ever got was in my 78 280Z, it was for tailgating. I was downshifting into second gear to stop for a red light. Couldn't have been doing more than 20mph. Bit the bullet and paid the $50 fine rather than fight it in court. Vicky
  3. It's getting close now just in time with the rising gas prices. No rain in southern California in April, right? Vicky
  4. Bubbles, since you had your engine opened for other work, you should have put flat top pistons in. Why did you stay with the dished? Just wondering Vicky

WRONG! The 77 280Z has alot of potential. Of course, it all comes down to money and how fast, or should I say, how much hp you want. It doesn't have to be a stroker or a Rebello to be a potent Z engine. We are lucky, in this area of Florida there are many talented hi-po engine builders with alot of Z knowledge. The guy that helped build my husbands 77 280Z also built engines for "Big Daddy" Don Garlits and he loved Z's. Cost, well we won't even go there, but the results are what my husband wanted. Vicky

Yes, I'm watching and reading. Mike, the best person to contact on all things Scarab is Bruce Bladon. He has a link on Carl Becks site. Bruce can provide original and genuine documentation. Remember that alot of the Scarabs people see are after market cars NOT produced by Brian Morrow. The other engine option was the 327 which is what I would like. I'm as passionate about the true Scarab as some members here are about Fairladys and early VINs. Before I die, I will own one! Vicky

Now that's funny! Better start feeling up a few legs & wings too Bill if you're going to be driving like that. Be careful or you're going to be looking for major parts like hoods and fenders. Vicky

My husband always says look under the car first. This will tell you what kind of life the car has lived and how thorough the restoration was. Will has my vote for "Z Police Chief" :classic: Vicky

    Both my 280Z's (77 & 78) had vinyl. Vicky

Look at the shot of the rear wheel, is that a bit of rust/bubbles just in front of the wheel? Maybe, maybe not? Still a nice car, pricey, but nice. The roll bar is most tacky IMO. Vicky

  18. Those items you mentioned are "replaced" with upgrades, fine. When you start moving items around from their natural flow on a FI car you're just asking for a hiccup or a major failure. Vicky

I second what Tom said. Check your local speed shop. We purchased ours for $305.00. Mallory Unilite, MSD Blaster 2 coil, MSD 6AL ignition and MSD Superconductor 8.5mm wires. Works flawlessly. ...........and yes they are RED Vicky

Well, I must confess that this set up was a serious option on our 77. The company that was going to do the deal was called "Decca Doors". Decca would have to fabricate a piston type hinge. The hinge was big, bulky and ugly. The weight for it alone was 20 or 30 plus pounds, add the weight of the door to that and the metal would eventually fatigue where the hinge was installed. Our body guy strongly argued against doing this to the car. Now all this was about 4 years ago, things have changed and these doors are more popular so maybe an early Z could handle it. FWIW Vicky

I think it's the tacky stitching that gags me. The Z's dash is so classic, I hate to see it covered in anything. Vicky

  23. What's "sezs5"? Is it the southeast Georgia drags shootout that's strictly for Z's that's comming up? Vicky Edit: My bad, it is, duh, sorry :stupid:
  24. Chris that car looks just like Jims. Isn't his an automatic also? As far as the colors of these VZ cars, how many of each have you located. I've seen 2 reds, 1 dark green, 2 orange and 1 lime yellow. Anybody have any different numbers? Vicky
