Happy Holidays!
Right back at you Chris and also to everyone else I'm getting an MSD 6AL ignition from the Santa that rides in a Z not a sled. Vicky

gnose in florida
I've seen clones at the National Convention. I'm guessing it was a clone since the cars are rare. Maybe I'm not used to them, I don't know. I sure wouldn't refuse one if it was offered to me Vicky

77 280z for free
I do believe the 5 speed was introduced in 77. That doesn't mean all 77's came with them. My 78 had a 4 speed. Vicky

gnose in florida
Dare I say zhead240, I really don't care for the G-Nose look. I know that this is like cursing the lord on this site. Plus that car is a 260Z. My next Z purchase is an original, documented and numbered Scarab (which is also like cursing the lord on this site to some). Maybe 26th-Z would like that car. He's really the guy that's lining 'um up and by vin number too! Vicky

pics of the Z
Dave, I just love your Z. The hood vents modification is great. Can you shoot a picture of them looking down towards the front so I can see what they look like from inside the car (when you have time). I'd like to know the rim and tire sizes, front and back please. ZRush wants new shoes for Christmas and I'm trying to get ideas. Vicky

750hp per Cylinder, Wow!
I'm not a fan of Nascar, I'm a lover of CART and drag racing. Came across this bit of info on drag cars. I know most of you guys know this but I thought I'd post it anyway. According to the NHRA Communications Department, nitromethane-powered engines on NHRA Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars produce more than 6,000 horsepower, about 43 times that of the average street car. One cylinder of the eight cylinders of a Top Fuel dragster or a Funny Car produces 750 horsepower, equaling the entire horsepower output of a NASCAR engine. As for the engines's fuel appetite, nitro cars consume between 4 and 5 gallons of fuel during a quarter-mile run, which is equivalent to between 16 and 20 gallons per mile. Add in the burnout and backup and you're in the 12 gallon range. The cost for the fuel is now $35 per gallon. To keep the dragster on the ground, the large rear wing on an NHRA Top Fuel dragster develops between 4,000 and 8,000 pounds of down force and the drag tires are good for only about six runs. Amazing, at least to me it is :classic: Vicky

miles per gallon?
The 77 gets gallons per mile rather than miles per gallon . I never really thought of the Z car as a gas saver, so to speak, even back in the 70's. Now, I'm not comparing the car to 70's V-8's but how did the Z match up to other vehicles of simular (I know, I know, there's none to us) class back then? Triumphs, TVR's, The pitiful Mustang II, etc. Vicky

Nissan Z Video
I purchased that video about 3 years ago from the A&E Channel. I don't recall to much 350Z info on that tape but it's been awhile since I watched it. Maybe it was on there and I just fast forwarded it . Vicky

Nissan Z Video
I don't think I've seen that one. I rarely watch PBS but I'll keep an eye out for a re-run. Thanks for mentioning it. :classic: Vicky

can I turbo?
I do believe that compression ratio is within the tolerences for a turbo. I wanted my husband to turbo his 77 but he said the compression, 11:1 is WAY to high for a turbo. I said how about a supercharger then. He claims that's there's no "proven" supercharger for the L28. Next mod is a NOS mister or fogger later down the line. Vicky

Goodby old friend
Chris a wet noodle will not hurt Dragon, he needs a uncooked, sharp noodle. I see door handles, the metal around the windows & hatch, fenders, GLASS, I could continue but I do understand where Dragon is comming from. Sometimes you have to let go. He said someone has taken her so she'll probably be back in another Z life kicking our azzez at shows and on the track.

Goodby old friend
Man the car looks saveable. If the frame rails are shot, that's about the worst way you can tow a car, no? Glass looks good. I'm rating a 1 for the pain I feel in my heart.

The ULTIMATE Rally???
It's the Nigerian Rally! They'll send the money for you to pre-register, then you forward back the remaining funds over the cost of registration. Plus you must ship your car over prior to the rally for inspection. Bye, Bye car and bye, bye money. Insider fix, you get caught going 200+, your car is confiscated by "local" authorities, then they chop or sell your car on the black market. Vicky

Recommendations on newer ignition and plugs
Thanks for the chart Craig! I love the detail breakdown. Just like the post some member put up about what all the letters and numbers meant on tires. This info fasinates me. Thanks again :classic: Vicky

ZX Wheels (8) For Sale cheap!
Geez, Stephen $50.00 for 8 rims?!?! If I lived closer, I'd take them in a heartbeat. Can't blame you for not wanting to ship. Scott has mucho 77 & 78 parts in the attic and he just can't be bothered with shipping. Vicky

Recommendations on newer ignition and plugs
Victor, can I ask a stupid question? What is the "P" represent in the L24 plugs, BP6ES. I thought it was the other way around BP6ES for L28 and B6ES for L24. Just curious Vicky

Saddest Day
5 Speed, explain to your parents that an early Z is also an investment. Why would a 240Z be more risky than a 300ZX? I'd think it would be the other way around, especially for a 16 year old. Keep your dream of getting a early Z alive. Let your Dad drive one, Z fever is very easy to catch. That might help your dream come true. Best of luck to you Vicky

Interesting Read.
Great read Bill. Oh, how I love when our humble Z's are mentioned in the same article as a Lambo. Vicky

Hemmings Motor News Z for Sale
I wonder what the color is. It looks black but that wasn't offered until the BPE correct. Says factory paint but what color of factory paint? Did Datsun offer any other models with black paint prior to the BPE? Maybe it's a dark green or something. Did you see the prices of some of the roadsters, wow. Vicky
