Charley's Comming
You know whats funny is that's exactly what I'm worried about.........my cars. They are safe in a garage and are very well insured. I can replace my home but my Z's I cannot replace (or at least I wouldn't what to go through that again). Are my priorities all out of wack, am I obsessed? Vicky

Charley is on course for a direct hit to the Tampa Bay area tomorrow. Please think of all your fellow members in this area and other Florida members too who will be affected by this hurricane Vicky

Just bought a factory restored 72 240Z!
In looking through the documentation and paperwork that I have on my 1972 240Z, I find that Nissan referred to this program as "Nissan Vintage Z Pre-Owned Vehicle". Nissan documentation also states that these cars are "Nissan authorized remanufactured pre-owned Datsun vehicles that have been reconditioned to meet Certification standards". There's alot of reading, but in no area that I can see does Nissan ever state that these cars are "Factory Restored" as the term is being argued. I will do a complete reading of all the documentation I have later. Vicky

Well I beleive that our "Z" does stand alone as far as name recognition. When someone says "nice Z Car" you know they are talking about our cars and not the BMW Z3 or the Chevy Camaro Z28. The only other vehicle that uses a letter with the word "Car" to describe it would be the... I really hate to even say this.."The K-Car". But it's true name was the Reliant K. You could walk up to someone and say "nice K Car" and everyone would know what vehicle your describing. You'd be an idiot to even say that but that's what I was trying to get across The Z does stand alone Rick!!! Vicky

It can also be called the "240Z Restoration Program" according to some paperwork I have. Congrats Dave on your purchase! Our FR 240Z has increased in value by $6,000 since we purchase the car off the showroom floor. I would not paint or alter the car in any form as it's value is in the way it was delivered to the dealerships from Nissan. I've heard that Chevrolet was tinkering with the idea of a simular program for their 68 or 69 Camaro. They have quit making the car and I did hear that they were going to re-introduce the Camaro in late 2005 or 2006. But you think if they were going to restore of few, that they would have begun by now. Imagine the price tag for one of those beasts :devious: Vicky

what's the deal with these bumpers?
It's NOT a 79 either. Vicky

Nissan paint code 611 Dupont match?
PPG is a better paint in my opinion and they can match any color under the sun. I would think your Dupont rep could do the same, no? Vicky

The "Vintage Z" badge is on the center console below the shifter. There are also Vintage stickers on each quarter glass. There is also a "Made in Japan" sticker on the passenger side quarter glass. It says "Do not remove sticker. Sticker may only be removed by vehicle owner". That's pretty funny I think. Vicky

Finally completely interior
Did Alfadog say "dead pig skin" I've got dead cow skin in mine. As I said before, it looks very nice. I think we're just not used to any color other than black for our dashes. The 77 has a gray dash and it took some getting used to. Very well done Mike! Vicky

Is This For Real?
Isn't this thread about some ho-di-do ebay ad? It's nice to see a young person like you Bill get involved in political debates. Don't ever lose that fire. Vicky

Higher compression, better? Why?
Hey Gavin that's what my husband's 77 280Z is currently running. Not very tame for the streets IMO but it's not my car. Compression test on the cylinders were 215+ on each. Less than 10 miles per gallon. Loud and unruly. Scares the gas right out of my poor little stock 72 240Z Vicky

trivia
Hey Rick, I was really looking for cars that are known like our beloved Datsuns, only by a single letter. But you sure did come up with alot of others. Points are given to you for actully looking info up in a book There is actully a car club dedicated to the Ford Zephyr? Do they have one for the Ford Granada also Man, the conversations on that site must be mind numbing Could it be that our "Z" stands alone in this category? Keep guessing Vicky

Completed interior
Boy, Mike your interior is simply beautiful. Very well done. P.S. I have that same garage door opener, hehehe.

trivia
Can anyone name another vehicle that is referred by a single letter like the "Z". No don't say "Model A" because that car is referred as a "Model A" not just an "A". Vicky
-
This Z was stored in a chicken coop since 1987
Hey ls1240Z, I "dare" you to restore that Z back to original condition. No wait, that would mean you'd have a very valuable car worth 3 times as much as the best V-8 Z. Vicky
