Was that center console armrest offered in '72? I wish a member could go look at this car and report back. It looks like it's been stored in a time capsule. One of the best Z's I've seen in a long time. I'd think a high end auction would be the place to sell that car if it's all that it appears to be. Vicky

  3. The S30 was designed for all who love a low cost, high perfomance sports car. I believe the Z changed the sports car industry in the US more than anywhere else though. European countries already had high end coupes. We could really only claim the Corvette in the 60's. The introduction of the Z car here in the 70's ruined the sales figures for Triumphs and Jaguars. The Z is one of the 10 most influential cars of all time. This is true no matter where you are in the world. Vicky
  4. Looks like a Opel GT. Vicky
  5. I also agree with Sean240, this will take some patience. I suggest that you get a couple of gaskets. I say this because when I installed mine I tore one. One other suggestion or option that you might consider is using thew Stage 8 Locking fastener system so once you get them on, the nuts will never back out from vibration and creating leaks. Good luck and have fun. LOL Scott
  6. Thanks for the clarification Chris. See we don't have to worry about all that stuff with our inline sixesLOL I can see where it would be confusing.... at least for dumb old me. Vicky
  7. Since when is a 427 is considered a small block. 327 yes, but a 427 is a big block. I agree Chris, it is nice to see a Z in Hot Rod Magazine, no matter what it's form is Vicky

  11. What about the exhaust manifold running down the left hand side of the S30 near the drivers foot. Does this add to the discussion that the Z was originally designed as a right hand drive vehicle or is this just a coincidence? Vicky
  12. Bill, you're going to be a real "chick magnet" when you get your Z done. Your license plate needs to say "Bill's Thrill"ROFL Vicky
  13. We attend alot of car shows through out Florida and hear this exact topic often. We are the only Z people amongst a sea of hot rods, muscle cars and fine vintage classics. Every show we attend, someone comes up to us and says they owned a Z and wished they never sold it. They say it's the best car they ever drove, couldn't kill the engine but the body rust was the cars down fall (which we all know). This all comming from people that are driving $50,000 hot rods and even more expensive rare muscle cars and high end classics. The Z was the jumping off point for many show car enthusiasts :classic: Vicky

Same set up exactly as 2-4-T-Z-MAN. I've always been nervous about storing a car at a storage unit, if that's what you mean by "storage". How do you know what the guy has in the unit next to yours? What if the place goes up in flames because a husband or wife is angry because their mate took all the funiture and stored it? Sounds dumb, but I've seen those storage centers go up in flames and wondered if anyone lost a fine car. I like having my Z's close to me right in my garage:love: Vicky
  15. Because it was taken with a regular camera. I don't have a scanner, but my father-in-law does. Maybe I can get him to scan it for me and I'll upload it later on.:classic: Great story Ben!!! Vicky
  16. Scott and I were lucky enough to meet and speak with Mr K and his "posse" in New Hampshire last year. He confirmed the japanese writing under the hood of the 77 280Z did say "DATSUN". I have a treasured pictue of Mr. K, Scott, me and the 280Z together. Can't wait for your write-up Ben:classic: Vicky

I'm married Bill, that doesn't work much anymoreROFL . Scott says that Z is DONE. The only changes/add ons will be to the engine. That area of any car is never done IMO. Vicky
  19. Well, I'm going to go against the grain here and say I like it. But 160 pounds does seem quite heavy. You'd really have to be careful with that air dam. Could do alot of curb surfing with that one. It is kind of "in your face". Just my .02 Vicky

That's a great price Wes. I cannot convince my husband to change the lights on the '77 280Z or else I might be interested. Oh well. Vicky

I used to think that was the car "sweating". My 1978 280Z did the same thing after a good drive, especially on the driver's side from the exhaust manifold. I've been told by the knowledgable folks here that wasn't the cause of the dampness. Never really did get a straight answer. Anybody? Anybody? (BuellerLOL ) Vicky

What's the difference between lowering springs and just cutting the stock springs? (Other than....the lowering springs you have to go out and buy and the stock springs are already yours). Are lowering springs stronger/stiffer. Very interesting thread IMO Vicky
