Eat your heart out......
Even a professional appraisal for a high dollar Z will not guarantee you coverage with a standard carrier. They will refer you to a specialty/classic company. Hagerty is our company. They will "agree" to anything under 50k, over that you need an appraisal which is good to have anyway if you feel your Z is a mark in you asset column on your Financial Statement. Vicky

Yeah Mike. That's one of the unique things about this site. We all gotta be able to SHOUT once in a while. I vote we bring that back! Vicky

Rock star wannabe
Most excellent Ken! Scott my husband does the same thing. When not restoring Z cars, he's jamming (drummer) with his rock band "Time Warp".

Balancing and blueprinting...what are they doing?
Tomo that's the only way to truly balance an engine is when it's apart. It's MOST inportant when your putting in hi-po parts that didn't come in a stock motor. Zrush is balanced due to all internals are preformance parts. Scott actually went to the shop and watched the process. Matter of fact every rotating part (drive shaft, half shafts) and such were balanced. Costs extra but everything on that particular Z cost extra so what the hell.:paranoid: Do it right the first time on any rebuild. Vicky

Eat your heart out......
Stephen, a true #1 car, according to automobile collectors, is a perfect vehicle that is NOT driven and resides in a museum or private collection. #2 cars are near examples but are driven (some trailered, depending on saftey issues) to AACA shows, concours events and have (some) recieved their first "Junior" or "Senior" award. Cars achieving Senior Level are retired from competition and are allowed to be on display only, free of charge. There is a book that you can purchase that lists all types of cars and what it takes to be a #1, #2, #3, #4 and it might even go to #5. It's mainly a quide as to the value of a certain cars. This is how many reserves are determined at high-end auction houses. FWIW Vicky

Eat your heart out......
Is that the lady in Pinellas County Carl? Somebody was telling Scott about a woman who had an all original BPE in St Pete or somethng. I think a low milage car is fine but IMO if the miles were put on the car in the first year of it's life and then it sat for 25+ years then that's no good. If the low miles were put on the car within the past few decades I'd feel a little bit better about how the car would actully run. Not just starting it up either, the car would need to be put through it's paces. It's nice to see a cherry 280Z for once!!! Vicky

I guess we all know now what it would feel like to be banned. Vicky

wheels???
Early Ford rims would fit also. Had a set on my 78 280 back in the early 80's. I think they were off an old Mustang. FWIW Vicky

S30 Ownership Flaws
Well when we purchased the Vintage Z in 2000 we had to have the bumper re-chromed, it was "burnt" in one small area. The car was also missing the rubber under the drivers side door. No worries as my husband made the dealer reduce the price for these minor items. The 77 (now Zrush) was filthy dirty, and I believe the wiring was a nightmare. The Scarab:love: was near perfect except for some nicks in the original paint. But she's going in the shop after the first of the year for a "refresh/restore". Want to have her done for the Z Car Convention here in Florida in 2007. Vicky

That's the truth. Went to a few other Z sites but felt like a Datsun owner at a Chevy show. This is home and it's good to have it back. Thanks for all you do Mike:) Vicky

240,260,280 Original Datsun Prep/Primer
Does anyone know the original primer color on ours Z's. Was it a pale yellowish-white? Vicky
-
stage 3 cam
Absolutely! The 77 has a stage 3 Schneider Racing Cam along with many other mods. Sounds like a V-8, runs like a V-8, guzzles gas like a V-8. Back in the "old days" we used to call it a "radical" cam. Don't hear that much today. Vicky

Totalled my driver. Pics
. At least he'll have the fine vinyl in the Z and this won't be a problem. Very easy to wipe clean! J/K Bill. That was a good one Rick Vicky

enamal or lacquer
I thought it was enamel on early original Z's????? Wasn't lacquer a semi premium paint back in those days? Vicky

New User

Cars For Sale
I was reading another Z web site and one member mentioned that watching NASCAR is the equvalent of pouring a bunch of Skittles into the toilet and flushing, watching all the bright colors going around in a circle. I thought that was a excellent comparison! Vicky

Classic Z Tacky Contest
I hate that blow-off-turbo-dump sound. I think it would be better (tackier) to have something that sounds like a supercharger or a blower winding up. Now that's cool, but it would be fake and of course that leads to tacky. Vicky
