"The Run"
I rented the original version after seeing the new version with Nicolas Cage. The 1974 chase does take up a good portion of the movie and is quite awesome for the time. The movie looks so dated today. But the Mustang is totally destroyed and keeps going! Must have been fun making that movie. Another great car chase movie is Steve McQueen in "Bullet". I do have a love for pre-smog control American Muscle Cars.

quartz clock for 72
Well, with the '72 240Z factory restored car I have the clock runs on a regular battery. I believe it's the same size that goes in a remote for a TV.

Jet Hot....
Not only does wrapping promote rust, in my opinion it looks like you have an ace bandage around your headers. I've seen a few hot rods with it done and man it looks stupid. :stupid:

Duplicolor for Black Pearl??
Smokey PPG paints can match your Black Pearl paint to a T. The body man that painted our Z to the left had a customer who wanted his EL Camino painted the color of a Datsun Black Pearl. The body man only deals in PPG paints and they provided the code to make that exact color. The El Camino looked awesome. I can only imagine what those "Pearls" looked fresh off the dealer lot. PPG paint is not cheap, but you would only need a little. I'm sure other paint manufacturers can match the color also, but I know and have seen first hand that PPG can.

280z bumpers
Hey Smokey, The side skirts are meant to be incorperated into the body of the car with fiberglass. However as time goes on and vibration takes it's toll, the bonding points will crack and seperate from the car. My body man had to re-work the side skirts with fiberglass so they would be flush with the body of the car but not blended into the car, thus making them removable for repairs from stone chips and whatnot. My side skirts are attached to the car using two screws on the lower inner wheel wells, both front and rear. Only four screws per skirt. Hope this gives you some kind of visual. Check my gallery for some pics that might show you the detail.

years
Hey Z dude, The car came with a L24 engine. Here are some engine specs, 2393cc with twin SU carbs, rated at 151 Gross horse power at 5600 rpm's. Torque rating is 146 ft/lbs. at 4400 rpms. Bore and stroke is 3.27x2.90. Compression ratio is 8.8:1. Hope this info helps you out but I would recommend purchasing a factory service manual for that particular Z.

240z fan shroud and splash pan
Hey Beandip You keep all your extra Z parts up in your attic too. I bet if I gathered all my Z parts in my attic, I'd pretty much have another complete car. Happy HolidaZs to All

"The Run"
Anybody think that video is worth $50.00 for a 9 1/2 minute run? I'd love to order it but would like to know from those who have seen it if it's worth the money. Does it now look cheesey compared to what we see on everyday TV or do you find it a classic worth the money.

78 Black Pearl Z
Smokey I was just going to ask about your status on the "Pearl". I am very envious of you. Tell the wife it's for investment purposes only, you really wouldn't be lying as it was a limited production Z. Now go tell her that right now! :classic:

260Z Truth
Yes that is my car. It is a custom all fiberglass hood. That extension piece goes right up to the windshield, hence the little divet to allow the windshield wipers to work. The center "hump" in the hood gradually increases in height as it gets closer to the windsheild. Just something the body man and I thought would be different. Pain in the azz to build however. The hood closes with the same hardware as the stock Zs have.

New guy here.

260Z Truth
What is the truth about the 260Z? Why does that Z have a bad reputation. This question is not meant to offend any 260Z owners, so please don't take it that way. Just a question that I would truly like to have answered.

Datsun 140Z.... Yes 140Z
The only Z produced by Datsun/Nissan as far as I know is the 240, 260 and 280. That car looks like a B210 with a Z emblem on it. Nice car but I think it's a fake, but you never know.:tapemouth

MSA short shift kit
I have that short throw shifter in my '77 280Z you see in the picture. It takes some getting used to. But the more you drive it the more comfortable it feels. Believe me you will be ripping through the gears in no time and it's awesome! I'm so used to the short throw now the shifter in my bone stock '72 240Z seems out of place.

Wow!
Nice, very, very nice. I have a thing for Red Z-Cars.

Hit and Run
I agree with ROOPZ 100% on that one. Makes you wish you had an old, rusty POS 1973 Ford LTD out back that you could jump into and find that jabrone and just ram the crap out of his 'rover. No damage (not that you'd care) to the LTD, but his prissy Land Rover would be toast. :devious:

WooooHooooo!!!!!!!!
I have that lovely sound only when I go over a bump and I've done everything but open up the chunk. I put in that limited slip differential from Motorsports and it was fine until ...............one day. I've checked everything under the car and nothing externally is loose.

Need HELP with rear quarter panel replacement... please!
I agree with Escanlon. Actually the dent doesn't look to bad, at least from the picture. I would not cut into your Z. It looks as if it can be pounded out and I do realize Z skin is thin. To me the most important thing about that repair is keeping your body lines. Never try to blend fiberglass with metal, it might look good for awhile, but it will come apart due to vibration, etc. Your biggest expense will be the labor to fix it. Your Z is still beautiful! :classic:
