Don't just pick some schmoe out of the phone book to paint your car. If you don't already have a paint and body guy, the best way is to attend a few good cars shows and/or cruise in's around your area. Check out some of the cars and ask the owners where, who and if they had a good experience with their paint guy. FWIW Vicky

I love the comment about the accident with minor damage proven by the original radiator still being in the car. How in the heck would anybody know if it's the original radiator? Oh yeah, the numbers matching radiator plate Still it's a nice car. Silver Z's always look so clean. Vicky
  6. Drifting off topic...One of those two cars made for that movie is just up the street from me. The guy wants 60K for it. Vicky

  8. God Will, that was a gross thought  You need to go outside and get some fresh air. You're inhaling to much dirty diapers and baby puke  Back to the steering wheel. I guess all of us that don't have that wheel on our Z's might as well go out and burn the car because they're quite useless without it. What the hell does that guy mean buy that  Vicky

Used to have a friend that had a bumper sticker on their car that said "Bend Over, I'll Drive". At the time (early 80's) I thought that was the funniest thing. Remember the "Do it in a Datsun" vanity plate? Saw one on e-bay a while back. A little to Disco-ish now-a-days. Vicky

Check out Summit magazine. They already make those types of shifters. You just might have to have it "fitted" to the tranny and have the center console fabricated a bit. No biggy really. Vicky

  16. Congrats Jared! Sounds like you're comming right along with your Z. The inline 6 is a beefy little engine and there is no way it would sound ricey......unless you tried really, really hard to make it ricey with a so called garbage can size tip that the real ricers use to make their cars go faster (in their minds) Vicky

My husband had the molds made from a 78 280Z that I owned. One mold for the top, one mold for the underside of the hood. Metal was put in between the two parts for strength where the hood hinges attach in the corners. After the two parts where fused (for lack of a better word) together, many and I mean many hours of work was done on the hood to make it straight and smooth. If you didn't know it, you'd think the hood was metal. All this work was done so the car would have a cowl induction type hood............on an EFI car :stupid: Vicky

Hi Brian The custom hood on the red Z in my avatar is fiberglass with steel reinforced (sp?) rods along the inner sides (hood hinge area) for strength. The hood is actually two parts. My husband claims that it is heavier than a stock hood. Fiberglass (fenders) is/are a pain to repair, ask any Corvette owner. Vicky

Is he in Florida? The rims are very nice. Vicky

Is the Z a rag-top or did it come with a removeable hard-top? (I'm guessing since it's missing, it's a hard-top). There is a member on this site, 2-4-T-Z-Man, who also has a beautiful convertable Z. Maybe you could pm him with any info you are requesting. Vicky

Along with all the previous information, one of the most important is to increase the checking account balance, as a full, thorough, correct and complete resto on an early Z car is not cheap. Take your time and do it right the first time. If it's the car in your avatar, it looks like you're starting out with a nice vehicle, which we all know will make the resto job more pleasurable. I can not stress how important it is to go to the owners meeting or even have a show rep come look at your car for a ZCCA show. When in doubt, have the car checked out! FWIW Vicky
  24. What about "Team 16". Three young drivers, all age 16 driving in The Rolex 24 hous at Daytona. Pretty talented kids I think. Vicky
