  1. Ahhh, memories of the days when you could rent a Hertz Mustang. Most people took them to the drag strip and returned (or at least tried) them with the rear tires nearly in shreads. I do believe the 350Z would be returned with a "tire feathering" problem these days. .Wasn't that a major complaint on most of those cars. Have fun Chris, wish we could make it again. Vicky
  2. Did you notice that along with the clear center bulb there's what appears to be a tiny blue bulb along the upper rim of the light. If you're looking for the modern look that the newer BMW's, Mercedes and Caddys have just go by a set of the "Cool Blue" bulbs sold at most auto parts stores. That way you're not taking a chance and you know it will work. We have them in the 77 and they are fantastic. FWIW Vicky
  3. Man that hurts the ol' eyeballs . It's amazing how the Z can take a hit that would disable most cars but yet the Z survives :classic: . One day that car will be pristine. Thanks for not giving up on it and sending it to the crusher like some people would do. Much luck. Free is a great price for just about anything! Vicky

Maybe he left us for the Pinto forums. Has to be lots of exciting talk on those sites, like "How I got hit in the rear end and still survived the exploding gas tank". I sure hope is doing fine. Vicky

Yes but it's such an easy fix when the clock quits working. Reach through the glovebox and change the battery..............and I can even borrow one out of the TV remote if need be! Or vice versa Vicky

The fact**y rest***d (VZ's) run off a double A battery, at least mine does. FWIW Vicky

I remember seeing some of the local stock car racers here at Sunshine Speedway pouring transmission fluid down the carb. They claimed it worked as good as anything you could buy out there for cleaning out the engine. One thing I've read is you have to be careful of some of the engine cleaners or additives because they effect the perfomance of spark plugs. Who knows.............car folklore or redneck remedys. Now that would be one of the dumbest things I've heard of. What would be the point? Maybe a Japan sticker for a Japanese car would be neato but other then that.... :stupid: Maybe it's part of that cars custom look Vicky

That "NL" sticker on the back means the Z has been overseas. The Netherlands (sp) possibly? Vicky

Tomohawk the local dealer might laugh in your face about retrieving original paperwork on that old of a car. I can tell you you might have better luck with Nissan North America. I have paperwork in the Scarab (1977 280Z), the build date is 1/77 and Nissan North America could only provide the date the warranty went into effect which was April of 1977, that tells me the car was sold in April of 1977. That's about all you're probably going to get, even if that. Good luck though :classic: Vicky

  16. That's MSA new air dam, right? I think it looks kind of "thick" but I bet once your car is all done and painted blue it will look great. For a heavily modded Z those types of air dams look fine IMO. Me, I like the little front spook and that type of spoiler you have. It's just the right amount of candy on a Z car. As others here have said build your car to impress yourself. Vicky
  17. Hey Matt we all saw and picked over that car about 4 months ago when it was at Southern Hot Rods (or something like that) Auction. Looks fantastic on the surface but we saw it underneath, It's a mess. I think the only thing that makes that Z look different are the rims. I love 'em. Gives the car a beefy look. So many people put flowery rims on the Z. Those are Torque Thrusts(?) it think. If I were to purchase that car or any car for that matter, I always start from the underside up. It tells you what kind of care the car has had. We determined that car has at one time been "rode hard and put away wet", if you know what I mean. FWIW Still a nice show piece. Vicky
  18. Along with not ever seeing the 240Z emblem, I believe the designer of the 350Z never saw a 240Z :tapemouth Vicky

After reading how close texasz and daddz VINS are, I thought it would be kind of neat to see if any other members here have Z's that might be consecutive. Here are my VIN's 1972 240Z production date 05/72 VIN#HLS3080428 1977 280Z production date 12/76 VIN#HLS30366953 1977 280Z production date 01/77 VIN#HLS30374288 (Scarab) Vicky

Yes the 280Z does have a one piece armrest/handle on both sides. I remember my 78 always having the problem of the fake chrome piece never staying attached to the door. Everytime you shut the door the thing would slip down on the handle. Vicky
  21. Ah yes Will, I forgot that darn plate, ruins the whole car. I guess I better check modified . Speaking of that plate (not wanting to hijack the thread either) I wonder why Nissan used the 350Z "Z" design rather than the original "Z" on those. The 350Z would not be out for another 7 years. Vicky
  22. For "modifications" sake. My 240Z IS bone stock. For example a modified battery would be like the Optima Red Top Gel Battery but my Z has what is considered to be a stock plain old black Nissan battery. The oil filter is a Nissan (with Japanese writing :classic: ) rather than a K&N or Fram. Tires are what would have been simular to 1972 standard issue. I classed my 240Z as "bone stock" because it has been restored as close as possible to plain ol' stock with what equipment PierreZ's could install. Notice I didn't say the "F" word so as not to offend anyone :cheeky: Vicky
  23. I'd rather do a single REAR tire burn out in a Z then a ricer front wheel drive burn out. Now that's funny. Vicky
  24. Hey Eric (spudea) if you know of the old Z Car Magazine, check out the December 1996 issue (I'll double check when I get home, I know it's a 1996 issue) with the front cover of "Awesome V-8 Z's". There is a much more supreme example of a Tilt front end on a Z car. Matter of fact the Z is called "TILT Z". It has a 383 stroker and can move. The body work is top of the line. One of the best custom Z's in the country IMO. Everybody likes something different and that's what makes the world go 'round. Vicky
