Electric fuel pump on 72Z w/carb problems
Please make sure that you install some sort of automatic shut off to the electric fuel pump, just incase of an accident. Having it wired through your ignition may not be the best way. I would hate to hear of a Z inferno. My .02 Skip

crank oil-galley plugs
Carl, Tim Morgan from Morgan Machine & Marine, Walnut Creek, is the person that I have been working with. I am very happy with everything they did. I felt very comfortable with Tim and trusted him completely. They will be the first people I call the next time I need machine work. Skip

crank oil-galley plugs
Phred, Thank you for your response. They said that it was an hour of labor plus the cost of the plugs and they have the 1/16" tap for the new plugs. Seems like cheap insurance. Skip

crank oil-galley plugs
Hello everyone, I got my block and crank back from the machine shop and everything went as planed but then I get a call from them asking about these oil galley plugs. It seems that someone brought in an L28 block and crank, after I had my work done, and had these plugs taken out for further cleaning. They found some hard ugly stuff in there. the other guy said that the motor had been sitting for a few years. My question is do I need to remove them, clean and tap for NPT plugs? The "How to Rebuild" book does not mention them. The "How to Modify" book says to do it for race prep only. I hate to take the crank back to the machine shop but...

FICD and my A/C
I am looking for some help for the A/C system that I am installing in my early 260Z. The car did not come with a/c so I have taken most of the parts from a 280Z and am installing them in my car. My FSM talks about the Fast Idle Control Device that is actuated by one of the vacume solenoids to increase the idle speed when the engine is under load from the a/c. Do I need this item? Is this item similar to the one that is actuated by the EGR valve? Does anybody know where I can get one? Thanks, Skip 260Z, SU's

Wheel Weights
Just an idea here. What about setting up a gallery page with each wheel pictured and then the spec's put into the picture title. It would be easier to search.

260Z and ST springs
Hello, I am getting confused about which Susp. Tech. part number to use. I have an early 260Z with a build date of 8/74 which is right at the change in part numbers. I see #60140 used for 70-73 and #60145 for 75-78. Has anyone had any experience with ST springs and a 260Z? Thanks for your help. Skip

Breaker plate
Hello, I am rebuilding a 1980 280ZX dizzy that I am going to put into my early 74. I found 2 ball bearings loose inside and 1 under each of the 3 metal arms on the bottom side. The "stuff" between the metal plates fell out in pieces. Now I want to replace it. I did a search through here and the only link I could find was to MidwestZ, any other places? Thanks.

Just Nuts!
I looked into what it would take to get an injection mold made, for just a L & R lower for amber plastic, and I was told $1000.00+. It is possible with a group buyin. What would it be worth to you? $100 per pair with 15 people, no profit. Maybe the molds could be owned by Classic Zcar Club, sell them here as a way to generate revenue to help with the site. Just a thought. Skip

Rust Treatment
While you have the cowel off, consider cutting out a piece of wire mesh and laying it over the openings and then put the cowel back on. Keeps the leaves and other stuff out that clog up the drain holes.

Old filters?
Hello everyone Surfing through ebay, I see air filters that are advertised as NOS or say it's been sitting in a garage or on some store shelf for 20 years or so and it makes me wonder if there is a shelf life for these filters. This would also go for oil and fuel filters and others. I don't know if the filter material would start to break down and disintegrate. Other then technology changes, is there any reason not to use NOS? Skip

Window channel felt
Has anyone done any business with Restoration Specialities and Supply? I was going through their catalog and saw this item # AS1264, listed at $11.00 for an 96" piece. 9/16" wide X 17/32" high. I would post a pic but it would not work. With a piece for each side, $22.00 seems alot better then the $60.00 I have seen. http://www.restorationspecialties.com/

why only 280z
I thought that there was a long thread about this item just recently. I belive that the 3 way valve in the rear is specific to the s30 with rear drum brakes. It is to keep some back pressure on the rear brakes so that they do not need to travel so far. The thread also said that some people were disabling the 3way valve when they install rear disk brakes.
