  1. Hey everyone! I know it's been a while since I've posted, but I've been busy at Temple (straight A's!) and working like a fiend to save money for my Z. I'm home on Spring Break and am stripping the car down to nothing so I can begin body work. I'm pulling the L24/4spd and have really nowhere to store it, nor do I want it around! My question is: 1) Does anyone in the area want to come pick it up? It's FREE, it ran before I disconnected everything, and the roundtops/whatever you want come with it. 2) If noone comes to take it, what can I do? I called Jasper Engines and Transmissions and left a message with them regarding picking it up. I don't necessarily want money for it, but I don't want to have to haul it to the junkyard (takes too much time!). Thanks and it sure is nice to be back in the garage =) Nate

At some point on either this site or HybridZ someone mentioned finding a near exact (if not 100% the same) part available at a national hardware store for an incredibly cheap price. Leave it to me to lose the hyperlink.
  3. I got: A pillow and blanket made of that AMAZING foam stuff at Brookstone (good for recouperating after bending, streching, and lifting around the Z, right?). My best friend got me a stunning silver 1972 240z scale model. Makes me smile looking at that and looking at mine (sitting torn in pieces in the garage). At least it's worth working towards!
  4. This has just made me an incredibly happy person. I'm still in tear-down and have saved all the bolts that haven't broken....which means I have about a handful. LIFE IS GOOD thank you world for loving Datsuns as much as I do. Anyone have a quote for a complete car set?

I'm 18 and am building mine to be a solid, quiet, comfortable machine. Where'd I miss that "speed is the BEST" phase?

Watch out around Philadelphia, please. I was hit by a car while biking to work Monday morning. I'm doing fine, but my bike is ruined, I'm sore something fierce, and I've been real spaced out. I wasn't wearing a helmet, flew about 20 feet, and to have no broken bones, no cuts or scrapes, and no visible bruises after a classic "This is why you wear a helmet" collision....really odd. Can't wait to go home tomorrow and work on my Z, though.

I'm growing ever-nearer to a Painless solution, but would prefer a "new" old harness. Then again, with all the garbage I'm throwing in my cad (HIDs, high-output alternators, stereo, etc.) it may just be better to buy the best Painless kit and splice to my heart's content.

Can't hurt to post an ad in the local free paper, or stick a note at the local Whole Foods. Lots of nice people in the world, you just never seem to run into them by chance.
  11. Mine comes from a little-known japanese cartoon titled "Di Gi Charat," produced to promote a videogame store called "Gamers." The character "Gema" is a floating yellow ball with two antennae-like arms and an upside down face, that moves with no means of propulsion (floats through the air) and ends every sentance with a hyphenated -gema! (i.e. hey i love datsuns-gema!) I figured it was the strangest, most harmless thing ever and picked it for my name in Counter-Strike...it stuck!
  12. Ladies and Gentlemen, The outcome of today's election can and WILL change the course of not only our country and our lives, it will shape how the world progresses and will continue to progress for much longer than four years. It doesn't matter if you're voting Republican, Democrat, Green, Libertarian...please, if you're just sitting on your voter registration card, NOW is the time to do something with it. I can't stress enough the immense necessity that getting to the polls today is. This was my first election (the polling officials clapped for me) and I plan to never miss a single one. So please, guys and gals.... GET OUT THERE AND VOTE. Besides, otherwise P.Diddy will come and kill you. Remember, "VOTE OR DIE." -Gema P.S. You Aussies, no funny jokes. This will affect YOU too. Though you have no say in it...
  13. I'm in for the tattoo, just have to find the right image. Where to put it? I'm thinking on the bottomside of my right wrist...my shifting hand

I have to take the entire thing to bare metal. There's some questionable areas (both rust and filler) and the original paint is no longer original.
  16. I could have bought that, I live very near Baltimore. =(

Anyone else heard of this? Just got off the phone with Stacey from http://www.chesapeakesodaclean.com and talked at length with him about possibly using the process to strip my Z. I'll probably end up using biodegradable chemicals for the exterior, and having him do the engine bay. Price is 150/hr. My question is...is it possible/affordable to do this yourself? I have a good compressor, and if I could buy soda blasting equipment (sandblasting equip seems to be cheap), I could do this for parts later on as well (suspension pieces and such). Really is an interesting (and environmentally friendly!) technology.

  19. I'm very interested, but have a question. I plan to upgrade to HIDs...will the relays/ballasts that come with the HIDs nullify the need for Dave's relays, or should I get both?
  20. Eplusalottaz's, In Annapolis, I'd reccomend Uni-Tech body shop, then Jeff's. You said you're in Philly, or your girlfriend is? I'm in Center City, just off Ben Franklin Parkway. Meet up sometime and talk Z?
  21. Alan, you never cease to amaze me. I couldn't even begin to decipher what he was talking about...
  22. You JUST bought the car and were racing it around without thorough inspection first? Tsk tsk... As for body work, I can only reccomend places in Annapolis, MD if you feel like driving.
  23. Only a grand...wish I were in Cali.
  24. I just might apply for "FEO240Z" plates if no one would feel offended.
  25. I don't want to see two cornerstones of this site fight. No good will come of it. The informed Z community is far too small to permit bickering and such...discuss it like adults, please?
