=/ Wheel locks, and the key in the car was not for these locks. Any ideas on how to remove them? I'm scrawny and using hand tools, and would rather not drive the car anywhere in its current state. Help!!!

For sale is my 1972 Datsun 240z. Just around 180k miles on the original engine and body. I bought the car last year intending to tear it apart and restore it, but time constraints are keeping me from doing that. The car starts, runs and drives, signals and lights, stops and turns without a hitch. The body is in good shape for being so old, and it appears as if a previous owner undercoated the car at one time. It needs new tires and a tune up, the clutch is out of adjustment, and at the moment the wipers are not functioning, but I drove it home in worse shape 6 months ago (the trip was 200 miles) to give you an idea. Has the original 4 speed, the usual cracked dash, and a rather sparse interior. All gauges work except the tachometer. There is no radio. The floors are solid (stomp on them and your foot stays in the car =D ), there is very little rust on the body (front left fender is rusting out near the cowl vent, but no spots/holes to the outside yet). The previous owner was rear ended, as the rear panel beneath the bumper is dented inwards and there is some surface rust there. Pics will be up ASAP at the following URL: http://www.amoth.net/z/index.html The car is located in Annapolis, MD, and I would ship at the buyer's expense. Asking is price is $2200. I bought the car for $2000 and have put under 300 miles on it, and have done lots of little things here and there to the car. Namely fixing the trademark sidemarker short and enabling the blower to work properly again. I figure my time is worth a hundred bucks or so, and the registration cost me some money. I will consider trades for a 240z in better shape (i.e. less miles, rust, etc.). Of course I'd be throwing in some money. Basically, I'm looking for a 72 240z that doesn't need body work. I can do mechanical and electrical things, but I'm afraid of bodywork. Feel free to contact me by any of the following means: e-mail: nathan@amoth.net cell: 410.279.9002

[This is my idea for a continuing post. Reply with one word, and explain it. Keep it Z-related and hopefully positive! See my response for an example.] Proud. Owning a Z makes me proud; proud that I found one that moved when I bought it, proud of the countless hours I spend in the garage, proud of the knowledge I am gaining and the friends I am making. Owning a Z makes me proud to have an automobile I will NEVER see two of parked next to each other (conventions excluded), proud of the thumbs-ups and the jaws agape, proud of the satisfaction of working on MY car with MY hands and MY tools! Owning a Z makes me proud of my growing collection of automotive literature, proud to be a self-trained electrician, proud of my Links folder, proud of my desktop and VERY proud of my cleaned out garage. Owning a Z makes me proud to be a driver!! Who's next?

Yes I meant that my insurance covers it, assuming I already had a car that was insured. The 350z would obviously be insured, so therefore, the 240z would be as well.

In Maryland, when you purchase a car, it is insured fully for up to 30 days after you purchase the vehicle, giving you time to register it and inform your insurance company. I bought a Honda last summer (flamesuit on) and wrecked it after 28 days of ownership, never having contacted the insurance company as my payment for my other car was JUST being processed (didn't want to pay more). They covered everything, and had no problems with it.

I think it's going to be either the original Orange (more I look at the color under the dash, more I like it) or the Chromesilver, whichever happens to be cheaper. Should be taking it in to the shop for a quote within a month or so, just have to work out a few more mechanical issues!

2ManyZ's, how far away is Woodstock from Annapolis? If it isn't more than a few hours I'd love to come nab them from you (15 is better than 14 for me). Pics?

Check the grounds in the taillight wiring harness. Mine was off and the lamp wouldn't illuminate...wiggled it a bit, and voila. Of course, that was problem 2 of 1123242323 electrical problems, but hey...headway is headway.

Happy Easter to everyone and their families. For those that don't celebrate...Happy Exceptionally Festive Sunday! Great day to take the Z's out for a Sunday cruise, or get down to business in the garage. Hope everyone has a great day! I'm off to bed...worked from 4:30am till noon, and I deserve an Easter nap!!!!

My best friend has a 2004 Chromesilver 350z Enthusiast. It is a nice car to drive, has plenty of power and is very pleasing to the eye (both inside and out), but honestly...my 1972 240z up on jackstands does more for me than it could. Love my Z!!!!

  23. Personally I owe Enrique about $232323273981729837012391276391723.23 in diagnostic time (typing up awesome, detailed and down-to-earth responses about my car's electrical woes). When all is said and done, I'm totally buying him a part for his car =D All in all...these forums rock! Can't wait till I know enough to start helping others :classic:

I need to diagnose and fix whatever isn't working with my windshield wipers. Lately, click the switch (which is brand new) on, nothing happens. Before I replaced it, they would work occasionally. So I figure it's time to start tracing and checking, and the first place I want to check is the wiper motor. Where is it? I looked in the bay...and my guess is underneath the cowl, but I'm clueless as far as removing it goes. I figure while I'm doing this, I'll fix my horn, too. Thanks in advance, all, I LOVE this forum
