Thanks, I KNEW it was around somewhere, I just looked in the wrong places. =)

I've been looking all over the web for the past week for a write-up on how to swap an L28ET into a 240z. I know the swap is not uncommon, so perhaps I'm missing something? If anyone has a link to a post, or pictures, or document, please share it with me. I'm hoping to find a list of exactly what is needed and how to install it. I'll be doing so with the help of a Nissan Master Tech, but still, I want to make sure it's done right. Thanks in advance.
  3. I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure you could take that to court. Claiming a product to be "All original" would indicate that NOTHING had been changed from the factory, with the exception of oil, gas, and replacement parts (Assuming, however, they are Genuine Nissan/Datsun parts). If the car arrives with changed parts, an engine block from a car made years later...I'd be upset. Even with the better performance the L28 offers, that still isn't what you paid for. You completed the transaction assured that you were purchasing a 240z consisting entirely of original parts, and that isn't what you were shipped. If it were me, I might talk to a lawyer, just to see what my options were. If for nothing else than to make it public and to let the rest of the Z community know that TIR not only makes false claims, but makes no real effort to rectify any wrongdoings and mishaps it performs. Needless to say...my money's elsewhere.

Let us know how this works out, I might be interested.
  5. That gave me a big smile =D I'll be joining a friend's autocross group with my Z, while everyone else has newer cars :: It'll be great when I hand it to them...I hope.

Okay, I take it back. She IS really cute and really fun. Too much for me on a daily basis, but very nice on occasion. Just woke up from a nap on the couch...I laid back and she curled up in a ball between my legs, and rested her head on my calf. So cute! Nabbed another picture earlier of her begging for my sandwich. Wish I were at home, though, so I could work on the Z...

What that car really needs is some yellow vinyl pinstriping and an Integra Type R badge...then that $^!# will be FAST. God I hate ricers.

*sigh* That's what I was afraid of. Just took her out for the second time in about an hour. This thing is a urinating MACHINE. And here I am, the guy who likes small dogs who just exist to walk around and be petted occasionally (pugs, etc.) Oh well. At least I know I wouldn't live well with a Boxer (unless I had lots of time and a yard, then that'd be fun!)

So as I write this, I'm at a good friend's, babysitting his dog. Are boxers supposed to be this hyper/annoying/whiny!? I'm not a dog person by nature, but I AM a very good friend by nature...which is why he's at the hospital with his wife (new baby!) and I'm here entertaining the mutt. Has anyone else been around a boxer puppy (~10 months) and could tell me what to do/expect? She IS cute, though...I'll upload a pic I took tomorrow.

Found that short from my other post... it was in one of the sidemarkers, but my guess is the fronts. Someone had hardwired mine in, there were no connectors, I had to cut wire! Good news is that I now have fully functional taillamps and turn signals, dash lights. I still need to make my blower/heater/defrosters work, replace my tach, and put a radio in. Then, I'm DONE with electrical. Any suggestions on where to start with my blower motor? Turn the switch, click click click...nothing happens. I looked behind the glovebox for the connectors, and I see one wiringharness-style connector, and a ground and power wire coming out next to the aforementioned. Can't pull the connector apart, though, it appears to be heatshrunk shut. Is this normal?

I'm looking for a way to unplug my side marker lamps to test and see if they're shorting out... but all I see is two wires, and I know from the warnings of others to NEVER tamper with the wiring harness. I see no plugs, no connectors, no nothing. So how do I "unplug" these guys? I'm going through the process of unplugging each and every item on the circuit that is blowing my 3rd fuse. Anyone have a compilation of exactly what is connected to that circuit? Just so I can know what to unplug =(

These seem to be popular on other forums. For those that don't know, here's how it breaks down. Someone negotiates a lower price through a vendor for a product, and in order to attain that lower price, the vendor must have X number of that part ordered. Would any of you all be interested in a group buy for something Nismo for the Z's? For instance, I can nab the rear strut bar for the 240z, or whatnot, and really hook members up if five, maybe ten people buy the same part through me ( I work at Nissan). That being said, would anyone want me to start something like this?

Okay, bought a new headlight switch and installed it today... Fizzle, Fizzle pop. With the car off and key out of the ignition, turn the headlamps on...pop. Maybe about a second or so delay. Where should I look next? I don't feel too bad about dropping $93 on a solution that didn't work, though...I needed a new switch anyways. Where to, now? =/

I'll help in any way I can...if my working for Nissan can be of any use (perhaps I can access old diagrams and such), please don't hesitate to ask!

Cleaned and reinstalled the headlight switch, but it still looks REALLY old and crappy. Fuse still blows. Is anyone able to provide me with the exact path of electricity once I flip the lights on? Like, it goes from Battery to X, from Y to Z, etc. so I can track down the short. I'm 90% convinced it is the combination switch, as my wipers have only worked intermittently as well, and just so happen to be on the same switch. That being said, on Friday I'll be ordering a replacement switch from Motorsport. If that doesn't fix my problem, I'm wheeling the car into work and having one of the very talented mechanics check it out for me (I work for Nissan). I don't want to give up so soon, but this is so FRUSTRATING. Once I'm past the electrical hurdle, I won't mind all the other stuff I have to do. I just need my LIGHTS!!!

My headlight switch is sitting disassembled on my table, soaking in vinegar overnight. Let me detail exactly what has happened with the car, electronics-wise. When I bought it: Taillamps were all messed up, chopped wiring, etc. Yet the running lights still worked when I turned the headlamps on. No sidemarkers, turn signals, or dash lamps. When I changed the taillight bulbs: Still messed up, but everything lit, but NOW the running lights didn't work. Still haven't figured that one out. When I changed the taillight harnesses: Everything is in its right place and all the lights work accordingly, with the exception of the running lights. No sidemarkers, dash lamps. The hazard switch worked yesterday but not tonight after I finished tampering with the fuse box (trying to pull it out, but someone had attached some wires to it, making it impossible to totally remove...some PO had a fun time attempting a stereo install, maybe? Also, I touched something to something else and sparks flew out...decided to disconnect the battery after that ) The cigar lighter definitely works, I checked with the tip of my finger. It did get REALLY hot in a very, very short amount of time though. I mean, less than a second was enough to make my finger smart pretty badly. Is that normal? There IS something sketchy about the tail harness, though. There is a cutout of the plastic tubing where a black wire is held together with red electrical tape, obviously something Nissan didn't do originally. Perhaps I should check this connection? I don't care what it takes, I HAVE to get past this problem...everything works except what I need!!!!

Okay, here's an update. With the car off and the keys not in the ignition, I place the fuse in. All is well. Flip on the lights, and ...fizzle fizzle pop. Would this be pointing me towards the light stalk? Thanks in advance. Edit: Even if the fuse is popped, the headlights still turn on. This mean anything?

I'm planning a few evenings of debugging and unplugging...testing the fuse block, the headlamp switch, and the side markers... The fuses are AGC-20, right???
  19. gema posted a post in a topic in Electrical
I'll be giving the fuse box a vinegar bath and emery board treatment tonight. I'm also bringing home a big box of fuses :: On that note, which kind are they again? AGC-I forget the rest... As for the light stalk, anyone have a part number handy? I am at work (At Nissan) and could check price/availibility in a jiffy. I just PRAY it's the fuse box or the stalk...I don't want to have to tear my car apart looking for the cause.

What could be causing my dash/sidemarkers/etc. fuse to blow? '72 240z, Right side, 3rd down from the top. On closer inspection, the PO had a washer wedged in between the contact and the fuse, but I don't know why that would blow it. Any ideas? I'd really like to have all my lights working! Thanks in advance.

I can't decide between the Corbeau GT7's, A4's, or Forza's...anyone ever sat in these? I want a seat that I can throw the car around with and not be in the OTHER side of the car, but I also make some long trips occasionally. Gotta be adjustable and comfortable...hmmm...

I tried to post that before you replied...wow, fast fingers! I'll get under the car tomorrow and take as many pictures as I can, and try and locate the dripping. My guess is a seal/hose/connection from the fuel tank to something else, because last time I had the car up, the fuel tank looked fine. So hopefully, that means inexpensive to fix! =) Thanks for the speedy replies, and I'll have those pics tomorrow evening.

  24. Hey, guys... I work Parts at Nissan, and those were Genuine Nissan parts. I'm going to check and see if there are any remaining in the States tomorrow, and post the price I could give you all. Awesome that you made your own, though. Just trying to pitch in any way I can!!!

Just pulled the 240z into the garage. Next day, open my door to the crisp and refreshing winter air. And what welcomes me but gas fumes!!!! Somebody's got a fuel leak... Likely places for it to be? '72 240z. I'll be putting it up on jackstands and peeking around this weekend, and will have the opportunity to put it up on a real lift at work next week. I just want to try and find the problem and pray it isn't the gas tank. It is a small and gradual leak, however. It pooled a little bit on t he driveway over a few weeks. My guess is a hose or connection near the tank??? Anyone have advice? Beyond "No Smoking!" . Thanks to all in advance.
