Trouble with Hand Cranking
GO get the ATF pour a couple of teaspoons in each cyclinder and let it sit at least over night. I rocked mine back and forth with a breaker bar on the crank shaft bolt up front to get the pistons to free up. Do not get in a hurry. I spent a couple of days on mine. I put ATF in my cyclinders a year ago broke it free and then let it sit all year as I did the rest of the car getting the body and frame rework done. I wanted to let the ATF soak around the rings. The oil rings are my main concern to get them reseated after the motor turned freely.

Waiting on B-Quiet...Whats the best process
I too am waiting for the B-Quiet Ultimate to arrive. I hope to have it all installed before the end of January. I did replace the hooks on the floor pans to keep the carpets in place. I will also put the snaps back on the firewall. I also saved the oem jute for the trans tunnel and fire wall will glue it back in place.

New guy with a gift
I have picked up a couple a sets of different series I parts over the past few years, like Will I am glad I did. Some of those are no longer available. May part with some of them next year and then I may start another series I or II car. I do not have any parts cars highly frowned on here.

What exactly am I missing here?
Will; I just bought a smog pump to put mine back to stock clear down to 1 5/8 in exhaust. No, up here in Washington it is not required but, in King county who knows so, I have kept mine all stock the exhaust is just carried over and I will up date it at some point in the future as required can not see replacing it just cause.

260z on Ebay/ horrible body work
If they really cut the rust out completely they did someone a favor. They left the hard points so, you could easily replace the missing metal.Remember these cars get dirt and water trapped in the seams and rust from the inside. No trap no rust. The price is a little out there for the west coast. But, then again you can always ask.

Battery tray ugly
I put the paint on the fender under the battery tray. I will get all the wiring back into the car before I put the tray back. Nice thing about the bolt in arrangement. .

Door adjustment....can it fit tighter
Sounds like you may have a hinge that needs adjusted. Does the door open freely? What does the gap look like at the top and bottom of the door compared to the fenders? Is the gap at the bottom of the door tappered front to back, or is it even all the way?

The Internet Z Car Club (IZCC)
I belonged to the mail list years ago and quit because of the endless emails on subjects I had no interest. I still visit the site from time to time. But, quite frankly it does not have what I am looking for these days. I too have registered my car there only thing is the numbers are not correct tried to get it fixed no go so far oh well.

Garage car lift
The other thing you want to we aware of is how it picks up your car. The frame rail under my passenger side floor pan was flattened using a lift like these. The two post lift was not set up right Sure created a lot of work for one little mistake. I am looking into the four post types but, I am also concerned about ceiling height. There must be a way to put a mechanical and electrical stop to keep the cars from hitting the ceiling.

Updating 240Z's Ignition System to Electronic
I bought a 79 ZX dizzy from our local parts house this past summer and it came with the 12-80 match box. How rare took a week to get. No big deal on my thoughts.

Heater control cable length needed - 240Z
Arne; Mine is out as you know but, I do not have a cable with the loop end you talk about. Tried to call you but you were out. Heading to work shortly. Will see if I can catch up with you tomorrow.

Any '72s for sale in Washington?
I agree with Arne; Remember that Ian told us the driver’s door would not open. If not for that statement I would of said fix it. Just how hard did he hit the curb? I am guessing harder then he wants to admit. His car is fixable but what does the rest of the floor boards and frame rails look like? How far is the rest of the body tweaked to jam the door? You will spend lots and lots of time in that one to get it right. He is right to start with a newer shell or another running car. It will be both cheaper and quicker in the long run.

Zx Distributer Swap Problems- Advice?!
I bought a rebuilt 79 ZX dizzy for 135.00 with core this summer and it included the match box from my local parts house. I had to wait a couple of days for it but, even so, it was worth it to me. Its all new and all there.

New member looking for a 240
Good advise Brian; If I had not owed my car over thirty years I would not have redone this one. I will have more money in it then I could have bought a really nice one. Would of lost a lot of knowledge through all the lessons I would of missed. Yes, they are out there. Arne's red car is an example. The blue one linked above is another just stay with it. I have even talked with Arne about picking up his yellow car completing it and then selling it to get another really nice Z out there. Escalon has a couple of 240’s he is talking about moving next year. Both of these will have had the rust repair done and been repainted. Get into the club get known and then start looking. These guys will help you.

This is a Great Club
These guys in the Washington Oregon area are great. We have had our disagreements but, as a whole are all working together to get these cars back to touring shape. And then do the road trips together. I have made friends with seven or eight of these guys. Meet them at car shows and always look forward to see what is new and how can we help. I am looking forward to spring and the road trips and shows. Plus I should have this car refreshed by then, well at least road worthy. Jim

Arne; Your are right I was one car off oh well still a sweet car. Your yellow car will be a good deal for someone as well. Mechanically it is right and still needs attention on the body and paint. Talking with you It has no where near the rust I started with on mine or those back east.
