How long have you owned this car? Where did it come from? Almost sounds like it has the gear in it for kilometers.
  2. After thirty five years the points dizzy never left me stranded. I always had a set of points in the car. Changed to electronic e 12-80 because the point’s distributor was just plain wore out. Now I have a spare 12-80 in the car. Go figure. Hope I never need it either. I never played with the points all the time. Guess you can if you want but why? Do not see a big difference getting the car started either way. So, Arne which oil is the correct one?

The lock set on my 6/70 is flat as you show. The wiper arms do show the longer on the right but, the logo's are there.

Rick; When 13 out of 18 members on this post are against the behaviors that started this post. How can you believe it is okay? Sorry I am not buying it. You can dress it up any way you want it is still uncalled for and the community as a whole is loosing out on car savey information. This is one of the best forums lets keep it that way. All should feel welcome here and that just is not the case.

I took the above comments as offensive. There are more ladies interested in these cars but, most have been offended often enough that they are either under ground here or use different methods to get the information. We would not let this behavior go in our living rooms why in a public forum. As Al said above most of them know more about these cars then the offensive posters.

I bought the patch panel for the right quarter from MSA. It had the tabco sticker on it but, it was not in stock at Tabco. I found the 240 panel to fit better then I expected. I cut the old metal out and all the critical points lined up nicely. Crimped the old fender and screwed the new metal in place adjusted it twice and then welded it up. Looks like before and after:

I just bolted the front fenders on that I bought from Nissan. Fit right the first time. They were worth the money right there. Same with the hood. Took about two hours to fit and align the hood and fenders. I do not know where they were made but the fit is right either way so, really makes no difference.

There is a car show in Canby OR the first part of June you will see all the different early Datsuns. It is a great time and you will meet some of the Northwest guys who post here and are really into these cars. I have came away inspired every time. There are some really sweet rides down there.

Welcome from Tacoma. Will have my 70 on the road by spring. I have a couple of hours in it. Hope to see you at Canby.

I tried to buy that from them at that price two years ago and that price was not good then. Since then Nissan has quit making them his supplier. I think I paid 175.00 for it two years ago and was real happy to get it. Mine came out of AZ. an over looked piece in a stock room.

At first I was concerned about getting the vinyl on straight using the contact cement but, turned out great. The glue was more forgiving then I expected. The installation looks much better this time.

I used 3M 77 spray and it is coming loose three months later. I am going back with Weldwood contact cement.

There is an accessory relay on the right side that controls power to the blower motor and rear window defogger. I know it is not drawn that way on the wire schematics, but, I have not found a 240 that was wired (with the defogger) different.

Fiberglass sugar scoops I have heard so many times these can not be repaired that I get tired of it. It is not true and a lot of repairable parts are being discarded that should not be. This left one I am going to use as an example was over trimmed a quarter inch and was cracked along the edge that bolts to the fender and lower fender valance. The first thing I did was to sand the sugar scoop to see the damage and then laid up a ply of fiberglass mesh and resin as a base: Using this as a base I added plies of fiber glass cloth and resin to build up the edge and fill area where the cracks had been ground to a "V" on both sides. Giving the scoop the Strength needed to keep the scoop from cracking out again. Using a cut off wheel I rough trimmed the fiber glass. I final fit the sugar scoop using a disk on a two inch pad, Carefully scribing the scoop to the fender sanding the high points and then trying the fit again. Painted the car and sugar scoop, reassembled the car with these results:
