removing oxygen sensors?
Wouldnt the whole efi system run wrong if i took the 02 sensor that was after the catalytic convertor and placed it at the head? Cuz then wouldnt it make wrong adjustments since it would be reading the uncatted emissions? P.S. i've ran my z without the 02 sensor plugged into anything and it seems to run the same as before so i dunno ill just have to see how it runs when i get the whole new exhaust system if its really bad i think ill make my own space for it to screw in on the exhaust pipe thanks again

so i cant remove the 02 sensors or the car wont run right...well then ill have to think of something cuz my new exhaust wont have a place for those sensors and neither will my header...there must be a way around it or ill just have to waste 2k on a triple carb conversion or something thanks for your help

Hey all i'm ditching the whole smog thing and i heard that with the FI comp if the i still have the O2 sensors hooked up but not taking exhaust readings that mjy car wont run right at all. Is there any truth to this? and if so does anyone know a way to remove the whole wiring and stuff for the O2 sensors or should i just cut them right off from the exposed wiring? thanks

dashlights/ accessories
alrighty well i bought a Z from someone and they had a crappy do it yourself stereo job in there so i removed it. After that the dashlights no longer turn on and my accessories no longer work( heating, a/c, etc) but the funny thing is this little flip down light on the dash that didnt work before now works. It's a crazy problem car i bought but its fast so its worth it any idea of the problem would be great or just a place to start looking would be nice. BTW this is my first car and i dont have the factory repair manual or much car electrical exp so if you answer please spell out stuff for me thanks. P.S. I've been wondering, and not even my Nissan dealer knows this(trust me i've asked half the people who work there), but does anyone know what the "catalyst" light tells you and I'd tell you a story about its fuse but to sum that up i cant get one for it and it scares me. thanks again

egr valve question
well when i took my car in for a diagnostic nissan said it was running too rich already and i dont know anything about FI so i didnt know how to change it but anyway so if you leave the egr on it the car will still run even tho the egr goes nowehre thats nice to know and if you try taking the egr off and plugging that hole on the manifold tell me what happens thanks for the info, oh yeah back to the runnning rich thing how do i correct that?

alright im getting the motorsport aerospace coated header for my 75 280z with FI and was wondering since the egr will no longer be able to connect into the exhaust system will the car still run? or does that mess up the computer somehow so that it wont run?i dont have any idea and its really bothering me so any info would be great thanks

well im done messing with this thing i have no clue what the prob is and i dont have a wiring guide or the manual to look at other optionds so to the dealer it goes thanks for your input everyone but ill leave this to the "pros" late.

aight hi thanks for the input again found out my fuel pump is fine ive got 50psi in my lines anyways fuel gets to the injectors but they dont seem to fire any ideas? thanks late.

sorry its been awhile since i posted but ive come to the conclusion of fuel pump failure i feel dumb youd think not hearing that lil clicking noise when the key is on the "on" position would have set that alarm off but no no it didnt...ill have to take it out and see but im sure thats the problem

well i was driving my z it was running good and then i stopped it for my family christmas party after the party i go back out to leave and try to turn it on and it wont start... it turns over but no go. i have spark most absolutely in every plug and i have this compression 120,130,130,130,130,90... so im thinking the fuel must be the problem cuz its been running good...so i tried jumping it and stuff and then went out the next morning to try stuff and my buddy helped me look at it and we found the intake just totally flooded, there was gas in my air filter...so i dunno im thinking the FI works but maybe the valves arent opening or something anyway if anyone has had a similar problem or any ideas id much appreciate it. late.

Strange Brake Light Problem
yah i went to the nissan parts place by me and they said it would be 50 bucks for the whole jack thing with all 4 sockets....im thinking no...technically i could just put some aluminum foil in between where the wire is and where it needs to hit but that would just be a quick fix and sometime this week i am going to rummage through the nissan yard for wrecks wish me luck and thanks for the heads up late.

Strange Brake Light Problem
well thanks for the advice dan it helped me find the true problem which was the part that touches the bulb was somehow utterly destroyed i dont know how or why but it was like blown in half so i have to go buy a new socket weird stuff anyway thanks alot man late.

Strange Brake Light Problem
Hi I'm new to the club but its been very helpful so far thanks all. Anyway a few days ago my brake lights on my 1975 280z began to act funny. When i depress the brake pedal the driver side light goes on but the right one doesnt. It is not the bulb...I've changed it and found that it's like the second filament in the bulb the one that makes the light brighter when you depress the brake pedal isnt getting andy power to it. I dont know exactly ...well if any of you have had a problem similar to this i would appreciate any input, but as for now im tearing up the electrical system. Late
