Hahaha! where to use bad-aid or duct tape??? Anyway I could pass! I changed ignition timing to ATDC and adjust mixture screw up. But this is just for reduce smog and car can not run well. I adjust back to previous position again after test. Now tears coming out again due to high HC. Thanks for your advice you guys.

Dear Bambikiller240, Umm... my cabs are something wrong... to make it lean which way i should turn? I think turn to top (bottom mixture screw) . Also Fire timing is now BTDC 5 DIG but which is better before or after ? I don't have tester so I only can smell.

Thanks Ed, I know I should put catalisor but need money and need time. If I still try to adjust cab. or change fire timing how should I adjust I wanna know. Or HC 9014 at 700rpm is too high and no choice??? Help me Ed!

Dear Everybody, 1 year is too short. My 72' 240Z must get somg test again. I checked fire timing and adjust cab. then bring my car to smog test. Result was failed. HC (ppm) was 9014 (limit 700) at idle 775+- 425. If I adjust mixture screw in bottom of SU cab. may be co% will increase. Somebody Please advice ! I don't wanna spend money so much!

Hi mariaAZ, Finally you got 240z round carb? So you should check other's engine photo at gallery first. I also put photo but mine is not so good modification.(Last time I recomend good modification 260Z to 240z carb right?) Basically all polution system and water line to carb are no need in my opinion. Arizona and Nevada is almost same law regarding smog test. My ex boss in Canada was work for Nissan and this is his advice. I also had 260z in Canada. In my case just take every thing (valve, EGR) then put plug on . and overhall carb especially air line and change oil (ATF) *this must correct level. Then adjust mix with bottom screw and top screw (this is for idle only) Water line is still no problem in winter but summer time this hot water coming to carb cause parcoration (become too rich) If it's round carb, you can reduce smog I believe. Take it easy !

Dear All, My 72' 240Z(ZEROSEN-Z) could pass smog test and got licence plate. But only 1 wheel is steel (spair wheel)and other 3 are ordinaly 14 inch aluminum wheel. I don't know actual wheel size but tire size is 215/60/14. If somebody having 1 aluminum wheel in cheap price, please let me know. Regards.

MariaAZ, your distributor for 260Z is not same as 240Z. Magnet type means transister type. You don't need to replace I think. And I got information from westZ as follows. If you are interested in, just contact Ms.Chroe but I don't know your center linkage can use for 240 carb. Also I found beatiful modification (260Z carb to 240Z carb) in gallay (engine section page 1 or 2?) Better check it out! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Masashi, Thank you for the additional inquiry. Right now, I have 2 pairs of used SU carbs. I believe that both sets are rebuildable. One set that I checked seems to be fine (the pistons move freely, easily), but I have not used them on a car so I do not know if they would be OK without rebuilding them. I would sell them for $100 (2 carbs), plus shipping of around $15. Your friend would need a center linkage for them. I do not have a used linkage for these carbs. I believe the linkage is still available new for around $25. Let me know if these would interest you. I will check the availability of the center linkage. Thank you again, Chloe

Thank you for advice you guys. I made it! I took air pump and EGR then over hall carb. change point and adjust fire timing then change spark plug to NGK BPR7ES-11. Then adjust bottom of each SU so finaly I could pass emission test. result was HC =439 CO=1.84% (700rpm) For 260Z carb is flat top type but this carb is quite tough to adjust. Anyway I recomend take air pump and EGR. I have extra SU twin carb round shape but this is for roadstar SP (1500cc) not suite for 260Z. MariaAZ should change carb to 240Z type. Better ask Ms.Chroe in West Z whether they have used.

Ed, where can I see your engine in your gallery? Also if you know somebody's engine is good suggestion for my case, please let me know. I really appreciated your advice anyway.

I also had 74' 260Z (Canadian Standard) but this carburetor (SU Hitachi) is basically not so good. Espesially in summer time. This is due to parcolation (gas become too rich when start car). If it's possible, you better change carb to after market parts or 240Z carb. Also water cycling inside this carb but this is also no good for summer time drive. In my experience, this water line and exust recycling pipe also no need. In winter time just put something wall in front of radiator. Even Canada this was enough for avoid icing.

Thank you for your advice. Yes, you are right. Now I am tring to take off all air pollution cotrol system ( air pump,vacuum control valve,check valve and anti backfire). My car is 71' made 72'model 240Z but in Japanese standard there is not those parts. When I was in Canada I had 74' 260Z but this car also all took off. In Nevada before 67'car only not necessary for smog check. As you said if I can't reduce pollution by my method, I need to put cataliser on middle of muffler.

I saw some Japanese cars right side drive in CA. If you really need Skyline , still have in Japan. But in that case must import from Japan. If you need translation , may be I can help you.

Hi, I am Masashi Japanese who live in Las Vegas NV. I have 72' 240Z and in here NV. I need to pass smog inspection for resistration. I took air pump and exaust recycling system off. Engine is quite good condition and running good but CO and HC is too high ( HC ppm is 4361 , CO % is 12.00 at 700rpm) If somebody has good idea to reduce smog, please let me know.
