Lee Harvey, you are a madman. When you stole that cow, and your friend tried to make it with the cow. I want to party with you, cowboy. If the two of us together, forget it. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083131/quotes/?tab=qt&ref_=tt_trv_qu

And you know you love it, too. ?

I was mentioning the lack of a hood bulge to my wife, too. It would probably be nice to have the bulge to accommodate a large plenum when people start modify, too.

It would not surprise me to see a lot of the mechanical aspects from the 370Z. It costs a lot of money to develop a platform, and it's difficult to make a business case for a low volume car these days. However, from what I can see from the video, they did blend in some good lines inspired by the original S30. Very doubtful that you will see a straight 6 from Nissan. The Nissan engineers see a lot of advantages to the V6: compact packaging that gives a better front/rear weight distribution and better aerodynamics (can have a lower nose), less flex in the camshafts (That came from a question I asked at ZCON 2018), etc. Plus, with Nissan being strapped for cash, where would the straight 6 come from? I just hope there is no temptation for an I-4 version with or without turbo. (Does anybody remember the 99 concept?)

IF, and that's a somewhat medium sized to big "if", I was to get either a 400Z or Supra for a daily driver, a huge factor would be the ability to let me go back to my luddite ways and stir my own gearbox and use a 3rd pedal. Given that the Supra only comes with a slush box (not sure whether or not it has flappy paddles), I am counting on the 400Z, provided I like the overall package. *Sigh* I may have to settle on flappy paddles eventually.

It's probably on essentially the same platform as the 370Z. After all, where is the cash to develop a low volume platform? Given that, I would expect the dimensions to be similar to the 370Z. I love the roofline on the new car in the video.

How about a video from Nissan?
  8. A working defroster isn't dependent upon the indicating light. CO has identified that the OP has crossed connected things that were designed not to be cross connected. As Egon said, "Don't cross the streams."
  9. Actually, you weren't "half wrong." There isn't a timer, so you are only 1/4 wrong. ? Of course, if the OP could RTFSM, he would discover that there is absolutely no mention of a timer in that circuit. He could even discover how the circuit is wired from the simple break-out included. Perhaps simple reading comprehension is of more use than Roget's.

An earlier conversation here on black pearl:
  11. Your description sounds familiar. Yes, there is a spring that will wear out and make it where the door locks as soon as it is shut. I replaced the spring in a driver's side door lock many years ago to stop that problem.
  12. In these days of YouTube videos, could you get someone to record a YouTube video of you working the lock and post a link here? For myself, I'm a visual person, so it would help me (and perhaps others) understand your problem better.

I was thinking it might be a black pearl, too, especially with the pin stripes.
  14. You probably will need to cut the springs to height. When I first put the springs in there, it looks like I was trying to create a 4x4 Datsun. This thread may help you: https://www.zcar.com/threads/chevette-coil-spring-swap-on-280z.349281/
  15. Chevette springs are relatively easy to do. I did them on my 260Z. It might take a couple of test fittings to get the height where you want it. They are pretty firm as far as springs go.

You might try going to the member map (https://www.classiczcars.com/membermap/) and seeing who lives near there and see if those members have been online lately. Then you could reach out via PM. That might help you get a positive response.
  17. After doing the Patton Machine fuel injection, I wish I could have done the conversion with the flat tops years ago when I had them. I bet they would have made good throttle bodies.

There are many very knowledgeable people in the area that have taught me a LOT about the S30s. I am pretty well versed in the electrical systems, too. If you are willing to get your hands greasy and bust a knuckle every now and again, there's a good chance people will help you help yourself. Some of them also have good parts hoards when you need a part that is NLA. Last summer, I converted a set of carburetors into throttle bodies to change my 260Z over to fuel injection. This may be the best area in the Southeast to learn about first generation cars.

Thanks for tagging me, @Zed Head. First, I suggest having someone look over the car. I might be able to help you develop a plan, depending upon where in the ATL you live. As Zed said, it is important to know how much you want to do.

That would make it a 78.
  21. Let's call the title: "The Search Function" That way if someone asks about parts you can reply, "Go to The Search Function," or "Find The Search Function"
  22. Well, the parts manual pretty much covers this topic...

@borini63 - Do you have a spare crank shaft pulley?

I this case the build date is everything. I'm guessing the build date is 9/77 or later. The plate in the door jamb should tell you if it hasn't been removed or damaged.

You can get stats on your videos whether or not people subscribe. I have a channel that consists mostly of Z videos, though I don't really pay much attention to stats or subscribers. For me it's a way to share some of my Z car experiences and other things I think are cool. I think if you are popular enough, you can get monetized, getting a cut of what YouTube makes from advertisers.
