  1. There could be a cross connection issue, or it could still be the turn signal switch. This isn't something that is plug and play to fix. The good news is that if you have a friend who is good with using a multimeter and reading wiring diagrams, he could take that link I sent you and diagnose the issue.
  2. It's most likely the turn signal switch. https://fiddlingwithzcars.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/hazard-switch-brake-light-turn-signal-circuit-analysis/

    I tried to walk over to your car, but you got in and moved away.

    Considering how much of a BRE fanatic Randy is, if that car had been in attendance, I would have heard about it.
  5. Welcome to Z car ownership. I got to drive my 74 a lot this past week. However, on Wednesday, I was at Road Atlanta, and a friend was trying to help me adjust the striker plate for the door lock. Then the door lock broke. I had to borrow a car to drive home to steal the lock of my 73. It's frustrating when something breaks, but it feels SO good to fix it and get back on the road. Check the pH of the coolant. It might be acidic. I hope it's not combustion gasses getting in.

    From what I read on Facebook, the Rabbit was more of a victim than a perpetrator. Look for the Remembering the Old Road Atlanta group on there. (Thanks for letting me know about that group, Rob @conedodger)

    The Rabbit died. The driver only received minor injuries. (Photos downloaded from Facebook except the "before" photo)

    Look at my photos closely once I get them all posted. You'll see a lot of cars picking up the right front through 10B

    This is probably one of the more interesting shots from the weekend. The cars on either side had just split apart, and the silver 944 shot through. The location is right at the entrance to Turn 10B. I should add that they all made it through cleanly.

    @gira @Diseazd - Here is a good shot of Woody's car.

    A little before the last sprint race for Group 3A (most of the Z cars), I happened to check my email. The events manager from Grassroots Motorsports sent me an email telling me to go up to their display in Vendor Village to claim their copy of the Mitty poster. I don't think I ever got from the bridge to Vendor Village faster. The guy who handed me the poster said that someone offered to buy it before I came up there. He told the prospective buyer that the poster was already spoken for. It's going to look nice hanging in my garage. So until I can get my photos online, shall we get ready for ZCON in October?

    By the way, this happened one lap as a Porsche tried to match @gira's line through 10A.

    I had a great time at this year's Mitty. I'm sorry that @Carl Beck and @Ron Carter couldn't have been here. I think it was better than 2010. Among the fantastic experiences I had was getting to see a 1st generation Silvia. It was at the 2010 Mitty, but I missed it then. I snapped these photos on Saturday, and I saw the owner of the car on Sunday. I asked him for a closer look, and he offered to let me get behind the wheel of this beauty. It wasn't so much getting into the car and putting it on. It was a tight fit, but I would be willing to put up with it. I asked him to consider bringing it back down to Atlanta for ZCON. He asked if non-Zs were allowed. I replied, "I am on the organizing committee. YOU are allowed." While it is built on the Fairlady Roadster mechanicals, it seems to be more narrow to me.

    The Nissan Heritage Collection was passing out these caps at the Mitty this weekend. They made 1970 copies of the hat, and Ethan from Nissan was nice enough to give me a couple of extra for Georgia Z Club giveaways.

    Randy had a car built. All of the gauges and switches in it came from the original BRE team, as well as many other parts. He even has the original engine and transmission, though they aren't used for racing. It was not Ron's car. John Morton actually gave Randy the VIN plate from the original car because Randy's car is so faithful to the original.

    The BRE team - intimidating the competition with the red race shirts and white jeans. (See reference)

    @Diseazd - During the enduro race, a 911 spun right behind Greg Ira coming into Turn 10A. He didn't recall seeing a car spin. I found that I caught it in a nice sequence of photos, so I posted them to Greg's FB page. Sure enough, he said he didn't even notice what happened behind him.

    Well, John Morton's engine let go in the first qualifying session. He should be on the track tomorrow. Here is part of the BF Goodrich display. Three lucky members of the Georgia Z Club (including yours truly) received new tires to show off. The first race was run late in the afternoon. GZC member Chet Wittel won the race after a 13 year lay-off from racing and in a car that was prepared at the last moment. Mad driving skills and home track advantage can pay off.

    Here's the schedule of events for the track. If you're tech savvy enough, you can load it on your phone. Also, here's a link to the entry list: http://hsrrace.com/wp-content/uploads/Mitty-Entry-List-4.13.18.pdf
  25. With the weather being great today, I took the Z to Road Atlanta to hang out with my friends as they get ready for the Mitty. My door latching problem resurfaced, so Rob Fuller from the Z Car Garage took a look at it for me. Despite his best efforts, the door lock finally gave up the ghost. I borrowed the rental vehicle and drove back to my house to steal parts from the 73 and did the lunch run for the crew on the return. From Rob's tutorial that he gave me earlier, I installed the replacement door lock and striker plate. The door closed perfectly flush on the first try. I was shocked. I just enjoyed the rest of the day hanging out with some great car guys. I didn't take many photos, but I did try shooting some ZCON promos with John Morton. Maybe you'll see them soon.
