  1. Have you tried contacting the Z Owners of Northern California? http://www.zonc.org Dandos is in Fremont. http://www.autorepairfremontca.com/ I can't vouch for them. Andy Craig was the owner when I last used them 20 years ago.

    1. The wiring is there for a light, but there is no socket. That doesn't prevent you from adding a light socket & bulb. 2. I can't remember (nor do I want to look at the spare tach I have in the garage), but search a while around here. What color wires do they mate up with in the dash harness? 3. There was a plunger switch IIRC that completed the circuit when the choke lever was pulled up, much like the brake light switch. 4. There are only aftermarket covers for consoles. I installed a rear-hinged cover on my 73 at one time and replaced it with the saddle console with cup holders a few years later.
  3. And he says he has one. I thought he might.
  4. I messaged a 510 friend on FB. I'll let you know if he gives me a lead.

If you can push fuel out with air pressure but can't pull fuel out with a fuel pump, there could be some pinhole leaks, say in the pickup tube. If you have enough fuel that it covers the leak, you're fine, but once the leak is in the air space, you'll suck more air than fuel.

Here's the old thread that I was referring to: http://www.zcar.com/forum/10-70-83-tech-discussion-forum/303822-bob-sharp-racing-valve-cover-any-idea-what-worth.html Here's another thread from a couple of years ago. I checked the link to the eBay listing, $1499 with 0 bids. http://www.zcar.com/forum/10-70-83-tech-discussion-forum/316809-bob-sharp-racing-cam-cover-steering-wheel-oil-cap.html One did get a bid on ebay at $1585, reserve not met. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bob-Sharp-Racing-Valve-Cover-Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-/111771745222?hash=item1a061d7bc6&vxp=mtr I'm beginning to believe they are for people with more dollars than sense.
  7. Precisely. The fuel pressure wasn't leaking down, so I didn't see a need to replace the FPR.

The asking price is really going up. I met someone who sold one for $1000+ a few years ago. I wonder who might be in the market for a $3000+ valve cover.

There should be a plate on the right side of the engine bay. (A PO put the hole in this one.)
  10. Already exists here: http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/33910-pay-it-forward/

It was tight the last time I put it back on. I suppose it was reaching its fatigue point. The strength of connection will have a direct correlation on the ability of current to flow. A loose connection provides more resistance. I was unhappy with the condition on the cables on my 260Z. That's why I changed them out.
  12. Contact Ron at Zclocks. He knows about the rally clocks. Sometimes you have to do a little digging.
  13. Also, you can probably source a replacement wiring harness from Oliver at http://www.datsunstore.com/. He used to post a lot over at http://www.zcar.com as ZmanofWashington. Again, I've never read any complaints about him.
  14. You can get your clock refurbished by http://www.zclocks.com. I have not used his services, but I have NEVER read any complaints about him or his work.
  15. When I was stationed at Travis AFB back in the 90s, someone was using one as a daily driver. It had a little body damage, but it still was a head-turner.

That's why I only venture toward the perimeter on weekends (or going to/from the airport). Otherwise, I stay well away from the insanity.
  17. That car was owned by Mark Blasko. He sold it a few months back. I mentioned him in earlier in the thread.
  18. Available on Amazon Prime: https://www.amazon.com/Winning-Racing-Life-Paul-Newman/dp/B00XBUEU48/ref=sr_1_2/ref=sr_1_2?_encoding=UTF8&keywords=Winning&qid=1447862097&sr=8-2 I think I'll watch it again this weekend. It was great being able to watch it at the convention. We had the theater packed.

Weber downdraft carburetors...they were commonly swapped in on 73s and 74s, especially in California because the Webers were CARB legal.

Let me re-phrase: You'd have to change the dash and center console, and I don't know what modifications that would entail.

No. I looked into that about 10 years ago.

    Dot.
  23. Mike - With adding the scissor lift in my garage earlier this year, I am close to having one at my house.

It might have been the clutch slipping.
  25. Gosh, I almost thought it was a spam post. Phillip, you need to post here more often.
