  1. I thought the hood hinges were unpainted, just had the cadmium plating, that's the way mine are. BTW, my radiator support is painted black. Original body color 905 red.
  2. A google search of his name also gives some interesting information. Such as: http://inet.museum.kyoto-u.ac.jp/conference02/KenjiroKAWAKAMI.html

Hey at least I got the first bid in for $1.00, then figured it would just fly outta sight -- but maybe not by that much. That other key went to UWHusky, must be a fan of the purple and gold.
  4. Very interested at $15 plus shipping, might still be interested at $25, but might have to think about it. However, I still kick myself for not ordering the headlight relay when I had the chance. Oh well, live and learn.

To fix the O, I think I'd just get a fine point black pen and mark over the mistaken part. Just a thought. By the way, you did a great job -- it looks nearly as good as new.

I really like the looks of the Daytona, seems like a good use for a ZX.
  7. Rather than putting safety aside and cleaning and dying the straps, wouldn't it be safer and less money to find some quality nylon webbing (as discussed earlier) and take it to a shoe or leather shop to have it sewn? Out in the rural west we have saddle/tack shops with the sewing machines needed to do the job. While the buckles are off the straps you could re-paint or take to the powder coaters. Just my dos centavos.
  8. Believe the quote was from P.T. Barnum of Barnum & Bailey Circus fame. Good point about the Golden Palace tho.

  11. I'd like to see some pics for reference, my car has a 12/70 build date. Thanks
  12. Will, I too was wondering how Too Intense Restorations ever planned on recouping his outlay of $90K. It seems quite a leap of faith to me. That said, I bought several items from TIR when I first started getting the pieces together for my project. I've found the customer service, delivery and products to be of good quality and have had no complaints. If he's invested as much as he says he has in his molds for the tailights then it is good to know someone out there is trying to serve the early Z community at great expense to his company. When I'm ready I'll order the best parts available, but price is also important to me. It seems that right now TIR is the only company offering a product. If Mr. Thacker dropped his price then that just might mean competition is a good thing. Gary
  13. Looks great!
  14. Forgot to mention, I think ZTherapy has an adapter to put the 260Z air box on the round tops or you could search eBay for a used 240Z air box.
  15. Here's a thread with the Ztherapy link www.ztherapy.com and some misc. info. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18409&highlight=ztherapy

We had a conversation about this when that car was on eBay, of course now it’s an invalid item because the discussion was awhile back. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14732&highlight=veggie I thought about doing this with my old parts car before I sold it, but don't know if I could handle the noise and lack of speed of the diesel in the Z. Wouldn't mind a diesel Maxima for a daily biodiesel daily driver then again the LD28 crank would be too tempting to use for more devious purposes. 17. Stephen, Just a couple of quick questions for you. What kind of gas mileage do you get with your 810, auto or manual, and is there much room for a driver on the tall side like 6'6"? I'd like to get something a little eaiser on gas than my pickup truck (when the snow goes away) and have been eyeing a couple of local 510s that might be available -- however I haven't tried to see if they have enough room either. My Z is still in pieces.
  18. Yes, the red one is very nice. I knew I recognized the 810 as having been discussed here before. I really like the price on the white 280Z, wish it was closer. Gary
  19. Okay, the last one's a joke, but the others look interesting even if I'd need a shoehorn for the roadster or pickup. There's an 810 for the fans as well. Here's one I forgot, doesn't look familiar to me: http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/113927483.html
  20. I was looking thru the Seattle & Spokane, Wash. Craigs Lists for something to do the other day during the Classic ZCar blackout and spotted these items for sale -- cheap or for free and thought I'd share: http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/114900302.html http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/114652919.html http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/112921248.html http://spokane.craigslist.org/zip/115137384.html
  21. Most everything on the wet, I mean west side of the state, has good chance of being rusty. It's like two different worlds -- much rain on the west side and hot and dry on the east side of Washington State. We do get our share of snow however, but that's what garages are for, so our Zs can hybernate. Still, I hope someone bought it to restore, there are enough early Zs that have been lost to the crusher.
  22. I took a serious look at this one because it is in the same state, but the rust and the fact that it is across the mountains from me and it's winter have prevented me from bidding. That and the serial number question.

Mine is close to yours 12/70 build date HLS30 17821, but it has a lot more rust problems it sounds like.
  24. Usually we have our first good snow on Thanksgiving, but it waited an extra day. It's wet and heavy and melting fast, probably have slush turning into black ice by tonight. I'll stick to my 4x4 for now (as if my Z was running anyway). Gary
