I've always had a liking for Glenfiddich and Gelnlivet's a good choice as well. Never had Glenmorangie or Macallan, but sounds worth a try. Gary

Well, as I recall, the last time I was in Jackpot, Nevada (where the seller is located) the drinks were free at Cactus Jacks and the various other casinos around there. Not much else to do but gamble and drink in Jackpot -- at least when I was there. Maybe he needs to sell the mystery wheels and tires for his next stake at the Blackjack table, or maybe it's the one armed bandits. Gary

Doesn't anybody on eBay speak (or write) English any more? In this case if the seller isn't going to put up pictures, he should avoid trying to let his words do the describing.

I live so far out in the boonies, that night is about the only time I can pick up AM. Might be just an Eastern Washington thing. I vote for satellite radio.
  5. Tanny, Thanks for linking that informative article. Your avatar still cracks me up every time I look at it. Gary
  6. I am using the prefab floorpans from Zedfindings. I am not sure, but I've heard the better grade MSA floorpans are from Zedfindings anyway so dealing directly with Charlie Osborne in Canada may be your better deal, at least it was when I checked it out. As far as costs go, I don't know yet. The son of a nearby auto repair shop's owner just got back from WyoTech where he learned welding. He is chomping at the bit for some real world experience and sounds like he'd almost do my floors for free (might be wishful thinking tho). I've seen his custom work on his own rig, so I think he knows what he's doing. The only problem is he may have a job lined up in Portland, OR. and not be available soon. That's why I am asking about best place to buy rocker panels, so if he agrees to do it they'll be ready to weld in too. I've got the rear hatch repair panel as well, and a wheel arch and lower door section, but he says he'd need a tig welder for that (but he has a friend who might...). Gary

I am getting ready to buy some new rocker panels, as I might as well have the old ones replaced when I have my new floors welded in. Anyone with any experience w/ Tabco rocker panel replacements? They're about $40 each, while the Mill Supply ones are about $56 apiece. MSA and Victoria British seem to be about the same price as Mills. Are the Tabco as good of quality? If so why so much less? Just trying to find the best part I can for a price I can afford. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Gary
  8. It's hard to afford anything when there are people out there willing to spend anything for parts. I think I'll double check my spares for some gold. The winner of the hubcaps, old_guy99, has bid on lots of auction dealing with 240Z type items. I guess I'll wait until he has everything he needs. http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewBidItems&sort=3&userid=old_guy99&completed=1&all=1&rows=200&sacategory=-1&nojspr=y&sspagename=h%3Ah%3Aadvsearch%3AUS&sofocus=bs&sosortproperty=1&satitle=&catref=C6&sorecordsperpage=50&sosortorder=1&from=R7&nojspr=y&pfid=0
  9. I have the other style "Rally Clock" with the oscillator, haven't tested it to see if it works yet. I bought mine for about half that I think off eBay over a year ago. It was only missing one of the knobs to adjust the smaller inner clock face. They certainly have a lot of the old "cool" factor to them. Gary

What's my best sourse for a pair of Air Cleaner Bolts/Nuts for my 1971 240Z. I see some on eBay, but does anyone else stock them? Gary

Did anyone notice the 2 seater (the yellow car) in the 1975 model pictured has the fresh air vents on the hatch like a 1970/71 Series 1. I can't tell if they are there in the 1970 example (red car) they have on that site. Re-edited because somehow "The Yellow Car" jumped to the end of the post and just deadended there, instead of after "2 seater" like I thought I had written it.
  12. That passenger side bumper bolt is the worst one I've come across so far. I cast my vote for it, haven't attempted the other one you mentioned.
  13. I bought a rear hatch patch panel from Courtesy Nissan a few weeks back. It was the least expensive one I have seen and I looked for a long time. At least $37 less the ones being offered on eBay every couple of weeks. They gave a discount, can't remember if it was 25% or not. Fast, personal and "courteous" service, well packed and as described. Gary

I'd love to buy your rotisserie, but shipping it across the 49th Parallel to Wash. State would be too costly I'm afraid. Oh well, maybe I'll get someone to weld one up for me. Gary
  15. As I said in my PM, Glad they're going to a good home. 2ManyZs, What are you putting them on.
  16. I took a few digital shots, but they just didn't cut it so I busted out the old F3 and my tripod, so I'll have to wait until I can develop the film to see how they came out. No Z in the shot tho, would have been too hard to set up that way. Maybe a photoshop composite after the Z is worth showing off. Gary
  17. I looked at these for quite awhile and noticed no one was bidding. I actually went out and looked at my tailights, from the inside of car, and couldn't figure why anyone would put these on to make the bulbs even harder to change.
  18. I'm 6' 6" and find there's enough space... way more than most modern cars. I am thinking of maybe a smaller diameter steering wheel for just a pinch more room to move my left leg around when using the clutch. If I was any taller it would be a squeeze. Nothing like my old college roommate's VW Beetle. I had to put both legs to the left of the steering wheel to shift into first. Once I was out of first I was never going back. The glovebox door had dents in it from my knees pushing against it when I rode in the passenger seat. My daily driver is a full size Chevy Pickup K1500 Silverado.
  19. I like the way you think -- my car will never be "museum stock" or even just stock "stock," but I like to think of it as a 1970. However, it was built 12/70 (just under the wire) and I got tired of the "it's a 1971" comments. So to most of the rest of the world I'll just call it a 1971, but in my head I'll be thinking 1970 because it has all the Series I features of the earliest cars and it can't help it if it's birthdate came so late in the year.
  20. My 1971 also had the hole in the tranny tunnel enlarged, as well as a small piece of the early console cut out. You can't see any of the changes with the shift boot installed.

Maybe time to change the name of this post, I keep looking at it expecting Sunroof/Targa comments. Not that it's not interesting, but....

I've never had the problem at home, just the one time at work and it went away. If I set the text size to the smallest the rectangle got narrower, but was still a pain. I never messed with anything in the resolution and the next day the problem had gone away on its own. Hope it stays away.

It looks like it's not on dish's lineup http://www.dishnetwork.com/downloads/pdf/programming/CUST100ChannelCard.pdf. I have their top package and have never seen it listed. I'll see if my bro on the Wet Coast can record it for me off DirectTV.
  24. I have an offer to trade parts of my 1983 L28 Turbo motor for a complete late model non-turbo motor with SU carbs. If it can be worked out we've agreed to pay shipping each way for the swap. Unfortunately my trading partner and I are in opposite corners of the country. I just need some advice on what would be the most cost effective way for me to have his motor shipped from Florida to Washington State. I figure it can be put on a pallet and wrapped in plastic and truck shipped. Anyone in the Hurricane State have any recommendations as to what trucking line to contact or how much this would cost me? As my Florida friend only wants the goodies off my motor and not the whole enchilada it should be a lot less to ship my parts to him. I had been going back and forth on whether to put the turbo motor in my 71 Z, but have decided to stick with SUs for now so I feel the trade will be worth it if it doesn't cost me too dearly for shipping. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Gary P.S. This probably is in the wrong section of the forum, if so feel free to move it to where it really belongs.
  25. Sounds great, let us know how the field testing goes
