240z - Hand Throttle - Need Help
Sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking about -- now that Mike posted photos I realize you are talking about the bracket the hangs below the dash. G.

240z - Hand Throttle - Need Help
My hand throttle lever looks similar -- full length, only because I fashioned one out of a choke lever. Yours is the first I've ever seen full length and with the arched groove/slide (whatever) for it to track through. To modify the choke lever I had to do some bending so it would fit in the top plate at the right angle. It appears that it would work if I ever set up a cable (my car has the bracket and correct accelerator pedal), but I was more going for the look than the actual function since I had a nice plastic throttle knob I found on eBay that was listed as a choke knob so was very reasonable to buy. I'm somewhat of a split personality between original parts and modified (updated/upgraded) parts for my car. I've a couple old extra brackets if FilipeA is looking for the cradle like part that the levers attach to under the console. They aren't perfect, but FilipeA is welcome to one of them for the cost of postage. They could be cleaned up easily or he could use them solely for measurements. Just let me know an address and I'll find out a shipping cost.

Wheel Changes - Your Opinion?
I like the Libres best, maybe better on a lighter colored car. Wish they were 15X7 and I'd trade my Panasports for a set. There are lots of cars with the slots so they aren't exactly unique like the Libres, but they certainly give a period correct look to a car here in the States. You can now get the slots in 15x7 or larger as well so that's a plus. The D Hubcaps are wonderful, but fear of losing one on the road and the fact they look small to me would make me just use them for shows -- so it depends on what you are using your car for the most -- pleasure driving or showing.

A/C Hardware
The Hotrodair controls look like they'd be a nice match for install in an early 240Z Heater Control Panel (the one knob, two sliders style). Might fit the lighted 1973 240Z panel better. I guess it would all depend on the control's actual dimensions. Gary D.

'72 240Z w/ "Ragtop" sunroof on Seattle Craigslist
Yeah, the description says it's FI 280Z engine. Top wouldn't be so bad in Eastern Washington, probably Eastern, Oregon too, that is if you don't drive it in the winter when there's the possibility of snow. We sometimes have to pray for rain out here in the summer just to keep the dust down. I'm not interested in the car myself, just thought someone else might want to check it out. You're right in Seattle/Tacoma you'd want to really check it for rust. I lived in Seattle after college and suffered Seasonal Whatever Disorder. Gray-skied rainy winters are a lot worse than blue-skied snowy winters for me. Glad I moved back to a place with four seasons.

'72 240Z w/ "Ragtop" sunroof on Seattle Craigslist
Just thought I'd put a link for a 240Z on Seattle Craiglist with the cloth sunroof, like you used to see on some of the old VW Beatles. I know I've heard a few people say they like these better than the leaky aftermarket glass type. Not sure how I feel about it, might be all right if it lies totally flat when closed. Looks kind of wrinkled in photos. Also would like to see photo with it all the way open. Probably wouldn't cause the headroom problems of some of the aftermarket ones you see. Not a bad looking car fom the price - $1500. Might bear some closer inspection if someone is in the market and likes the sunroof. Here's the link and I'll post a couple photos here as well. http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/car/573174959.html

Value Village, that's were most of our Halloween costumes came from when I was in college in Spokane. Also was great when vintage clothes were the thing - hard to find sizes for 6'6" (198 cm) tho. Of course that goes for most places.

Dave, that is the same guide I discussed here: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26238&highlight=practical+classics but it is a different cover from the May 2007 Practical Classics issue I was talking about.

History International Nissan Z Car
History Channel store now has their Datsun Z DVD on sale for $10.17, it was $24.95 before. Pretty good deal if anyone is interested. I've seen the ones on the Austin-Healy, Jag E-type BMW, VW Bug, Honda NSX, Volvo and Saab and they do a fairly good job. http://store.aetv.com/html/product/index.jhtml?id=72035

you're getting old if u remember....
I believe Converse All Stars (1917), AKA Chuck Taylors, predate P.F. Flyers (1937) by 20 years. They are high tops and have flat soles. I know, I owned several pairs as a kid, as well as the P.F. Flyers.

- I'm getting the "Itch" LOL
Don't forget your neighbors on the east side of the Cascades in Washington. Here in the high desert just below Canada it does snow a little more than "sometimes" . I went to college in Spokane and it really snowed a lot there, even though it is a lot further south in the state than my hometown. It hasn't snowed here in a couple of days, but there's still lots on the ground and it is currently 20 degrees Fahrenheit (-6.6 Celsius). Not good Z driving weather and even worse for working on your Z when all you have for heat in the garage is a small old barrel stove.- Type of paint?
I'm in Oroville in Okanogan County, right near the BC border in North Central Washington (east side of the Cascades). Happy to help if I can.- To our friends in Oz
To all our Aussie friends I've been reading about the flooding happening in your country. I hope all our members and their families in Oz are safe. You are in our thoughts and prayers.- I've been in an accident!
I hope you're okay -- you can replace a car, even a Z, but we can't replace you. Listen to all the good advice that's been offered here and get well soon.- Poor #299: Not for the feint of heart!
Thanks for your comments Chris, I was starting to feel like I had broken some unspoken rule about speaking ill of one of the first 500. Just thought it would be a tough one to restore - not that it was impossible for the right motivated person.- Poor #299: Not for the feint of heart!
Poor No. 299. It would be a real challenge bringing this one back to life. I hate to see the earliest N. American cars in this state. Probably end up as a parts car for someone. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-Datsun-Nissan-240z-HLS30-00299_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34229QQihZ019QQitemZ290195360803QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW- 240z ignition points problem
Generally the e1280 modules are clearly marked. I bought one of the dizzies like posted because I had the module, but not the dizzy. Swapped modules although haven't had the engine in car yet. Bought a spare e1280 module just in case I do run into trouble.- Valve covers
My 12/70 240Z - 4 speed with e88 head came with a 2400 OHC valve cover. However, it was in the hatch area and not on the non-numbers-matching engine. I probably just lucked out, it will work fine on my non-numbers-matching (L28 F54 bored w/ flat top pistons) engine for my 7/70 240Z. However, of late I've been eying the couple of Big NISSAN JDM valve covers on eBay. They've been hovering in the $200 range - one with a whitish looking powder coat (really not my style) and the other with a black chrome/gunmetal badly done paint job (described as such by the seller and illustrated in the photos). IMHO I still think $180-$199 is too much money. Might be tempted into trading my (sorta polished) 2400 OHC for an unpainted Big NISSAN one in good shape, but I bounce back and forth depending on the day. I'd think the 2400 OHC would be rarer, but maybe not since we didn't get the NISSAN one at all. They both seem to appear on eBay at about the same frequency.- New to the forum. Bought a 1970 240z. Told you guys would like it.
Might be worth it to see if he has the old block around somewhere. Matching engines enhance the value of the early cars considerably from what we've seen of the market.- 280z chrome door handle finishing trim
I sold three once on eBay - they all had some problems - one had good chrome, but was cracked and the other two had major peeling of chrome in areas. I described all their faults and documented them with pics. They sold for $50+ shipping to Australia. I couldn't believe it - they must be rare. I always buy them when I see them in a wrecking yards even tho I have a 240Z. The problem here is these cars out in the sticks are going to the crusher faster than I can find them. I have to head back up to B.C. and see if there are any left in the nearby yards I know they're gone down here. I'll keep my eyes open for more, but reproductions or an inexpensive way to rechrome might be your best future bet.- What color are S30 wiper arms?
Thanks, Alfa I remember that thread now. Interesting. Makes sense I guess. I like the silver arms because they match the rest of the silver/stainless bits on my car and they look more retro to me with so many cars with black ones nowadays. I have sets in both silver and black, but will use the unpainted ones.- What color are S30 wiper arms?
This one in Alan T's gallery has the silver colored ones: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=1131&cat=3070- White Face Gauge kit problem (series 1 speedo
I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in mind. I think EL looks great and have always liked the red lighted dials in cars. Maybe it's because my vehicles have all had blue/green lighting. Gary D. - I'm getting the "Itch" LOL
