  1. Anyone with a pair of those nasty old chrome trimmed ones is welcome to send them to me to get rid of -- I like them. Baring that I'll take a driver's side, because that's all I'm missing. Yes, I have a Cyclops. Seriously, go with what you like. I have a pair of the aftermarket lenses, but I don't have the rubber gasket. The eBay seller neglected to tell me they weren't included about four years back. They've never been mounted and I'll sell them cheap, don't know what you'll do about the trim/gasket though. I saw a pair of the chrome trimmed g-nose-only type go for somewhere under $500 on eBay awhile back and was surprised they went for so cheap.

If I understand you correctly, you are talking about the standard engine compartment light (gold cadmium-colored thing, w/ white globe) left (as your sample picture is orientated) of the front passenger side strut tower). If you have an unknown wire there and no engine compartment light, that's what it probably goes to. Gary D.
  3. There's a couple around here, a nice green 280Z (w/ a 510) parked at a house at the south end of town and about four miles to the north, just across the border in Osoyoos, BC, there's an orange '72 240Z. The owner of the 240Z used to post on here every once in awhile, but haven't heard from him lately. Can't remember his name right now. These are usually parked outside, hopefully they'll be going indoors before the snow flies. Gary D.

A friend of mine in Seattle had his old Datsun pickup stolen twice. It was missing something like nine months the first time it was taken and like six months the second time. I guess just about any old datsun/nissan key from the same era would open the door and work the ignition. Both times he got it back it was none worse for wear, just more milage.

The problem is, as far as I know, is that Tabco is the supplier for these panels for all others that sell them, like Mills Supply, etc. Your best bet is trying these other options and see if they have some in their inventory. The first time I ordered from Tabco it was fine and quick, the next time I waited a long time, called them and decided to try Mills Supply and they got here pretty quick. It all probably depends on if they have some in inventory. http://www.rustrepair.com/app2/onlinecat.htm?r=ms&p=sm

Even though they're taken in an industrial setting, many give me this feeling your car(s) are parked next to old Greek or Roman ruins. Sort of a gladiator feeling for some reason. Very nice.

I never said you messed with anyone's car, I was referring to your comment: "...if they gonna key something up key up a whack car." If I misunderstood what you said, then that is my mistake. Just feel to key a car "whacked" or not, is wrong. It would not make it better because that "whacked" car belongs to someone who would probably also feel bad about it, maybe not as bad as they would feel if they had a classic car, but bad just the same.
  11. Go240Zags replied to ta240's post in a topic in Open Chit Chat
Better advice, don't key anyone's car - no matter how "whack." People who key other's cars don't deserve to have their own in my opinion. I always thought keying, tire slashing, sugar in the tank and the like were all chicken---- acts by gutless turds (pardon my French). You don't mess with another man's (or woman's) car -- it just isn't right .

Here's Sophia, Sofie for short, named after my Italian great-grandmother. This Sophia's mom was a golden retriever and her dad a chocolate lab. She is smart and has a great temperament. She also thinks she is a lap dog. Sophia rarely barks unless someone is at the door and then she sounds bigger than her 75 pounds. She loves the water and likes the fact we live right on the Okanogan River so she can go swimming any time she wants during the warmer months. She's a bit of a wienie when the water gets too cold. In the photo we are on Vashon Island getting a bit of salt water on the west (spelled wet) side of Washington State.

Thanks for clearing that up guys. I guess I'll have to find one of those or have my current shift lever modified. That is quite the bend.

Except your high school sweetheart might not be in as good of condition. Great story.

Where can you find this modified shift lever to avoid enlarging the hole on tranny tunnell and console? My old project (now parts car) had this done to both, I'm using the five speed from that car in my current project and would like to avoid enlarging the hole in the tranny tunnel and my good console.
  16. Love the bird chirps at that one curve.
  17. Wings, If you do a 240Z search with the Search title and description box checked there is a way to weed out most of the Datsun of the Beach auctions if you don't want to wade through them. Just search 240Z - beach. I did it both ways with just 240Z I got 2114 returns, with the "-beach" added I only got 1686. So, it looks like D of B has about 428 items listed that I won't have to look at if I chose the "-beach" option. If you don't search descriptions as well, your probably out of luck using this method. Hey, this was my 770th post, same number as my car's production date 7-70. Gary D.
  18. Infinitely better IMHO.

Go to the User CP item on the menu list on the left (under where it should say "Welcome Kcoke) click, that takes you to your Cotrol Panel, chose edit avatar from that list and chose a photo by brosing your drive where you have the picture you want to show stored. There are probably size limitations so you may have to reduce the size of the image if it says it is too big.

Wow, thanks for posting, but those pictures are thumbnail size, at least on my computer.
  22. That is until someone decides to reproduce the whole unit probably never going to happen with the limited market.
  23. Update: I see there is another knob on from the same seller and it is a reproduction. Might be a good way to get a throttle knob - I already have the square one, but if these remain available I might get one in the future. Anyway, I figured someone here might want one. Looks like it has three lines below the regular icon. I've rigged up an old choke lever to the right - recurved in the vice so I can put my throttle knob on the console. Still not sure I'll hook up a cable to the accelerator - not sure I can without the original cable, but it couldn't be too hard. Been thinking of putting a lever on the right for the hand throttle lever for awhile and finally got around to it. Has anyone else tried this? Sure cheaper than buying one of the few units that pop up on eBay every once in awhile. I hope whoever is making these keeps up the good work. I wonder if he is taking a regular choke knob, removing the choke symbol and etching in the throttle symbol. Here's the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170155626859&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RCRX_Pr3_PcY_BIN_IT&refitem=170154742425&itemcount=3&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget#ebayphotohosting
  24. Just noticed a round knob hand throttle lever was bought with BIN on eBay on Oct. 1 for $40. Never even noticed the auction when it was going. The knob appears to be a little different than those round ones posted here with another symbol or below the standard icon. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-Fairlady-Z-Hand-Throttle-Knob_W0QQitemZ170154742425QQihZ007QQcategoryZ50459QQcmdZViewItem
