  1. Dave, It's quite a bit different. See attached photo. Gary D.
  2. Will, thanks for the update. My thoughts wandered back to the rally clock research when the headlight covers project came up again. As you know I'm highly interested in several of your projects - OEM-style headlight covers (because I only have one Nissan cover for passenger-side only), rally clock oscillator replacement/eliminator? and the proper OEM-like passenger-side mirror. Having one headlight covers is almost as bad as a non-working rally clock... almost. If you do come up with something to get the rally clock going then I have to get Dave to work on a white face gauge cover for it, if I decide to ever go that route. Best of luck on your further quest to perfect your several projects. I think many of us have benefited from your efforts on yours and our behalves and hope to continue to in the future.

Trying not to flog a dead horse, but.... Like was mentioned above and many times before, the best place to find information and someone to guide you would be on Hybridz. Is that your car in your avatar, it looks like a nice paint job. Gary D.
  4. Juarez88, I'll check these against the numbers on my spare dash harness and see whether they are the same. I believe the gauges will be same, whether the harness matches or not. Give me some time to check on it tomorrow or Wednesday when I can get to it in storage. Gary

Probably costs a lot for the conversion in the long run, but this looked like a good deal to start with for those interested in the GT250 look. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=230198962067&rd=1
  6. I have the dash out of my '72 parts car and it has the wiring harness as well as the gauges. I believe it was a late build, but can't remember. If the harness numbers match we could probably work out a deal if you need the whole thing or just harness and maybe the gauges you lost.
  7. Right you are, bad math on my part. I just got caught up in trying not to sound too preachy and botched the math. I was also wondering whether to add the 69 in there and decided not to make it too confusing -- in general the cars were registered as 70, 71, 72 and 73 so I didn't add in the 69. Of course if I had written it out like that in the first place I probably wouldn't have goofed.
  8. Snip Just a little info - Series I 240Zs were actually built late 1969 to about 1971.5. Your car at 1972 would not be a Series 1, but rather a first generation car which covers 1969 built thru 1978 280Zs. Some people, at least in N. America, refer to the 1972 as Series II because the fresh air vents were moved from the rear hatch to the sides of the car, the console was changed and some other differences, there is a good break down on Zhome with the design changes and even the labels Series III and Series IV here: http://zhome.com/History/DesignChanges.htm. For most purposes we usually just refer to Series I and Series II, but the 240Z evolved several times even over the short three years it was in production.

BRE-240Z is right, not the same car -- Doug's is a '71 240Z with dual SU's, while the car in the auction you're posting is a '78 280Z with fuel injection. Looks somewhat the same in black with the flares, but obviously have the different tail lights, etc. of the slightly newer Gen 1 S30s.

Besides stealing the photos the seller also stole your description of the mods straight from the CarDomain website. He says contact him directly if you want to buy it for $6000. Sounds too good to be true right there. Zero feedback.

I knew I saw it earlier today. This is it or it's got a clone with the same stereo, wide wheels, spark plug wires, etc. Auction says it is in Springfield, Virginia. May we all have things to be thankful for -- lots of loving family and friends, a warm, dry place to live, enough to eat and things like Zs that keep us happy. Happy Thanksgiving to all our U.S. members, belated Thanksgiving wishes to our Canadian members and best wishes to all our Z friends worldwide.

    Welcome
  14. I believe that is a 260Z manifold from a car equipped with the flat-top carbs. Legend has it they flow slightly better. I had a manifold, N36 I think, that has the same ports. They were blocked off with screws if I recall.
  15. I think the seller has the option to make a 'second chance' offer to the next highest bidder. Then that bidder has the option of taking it. I've been offered a few of these second chances. A couple times I've taken the seller up on the offer and a couple times I was just happy to be outbid and save my money. Hate it when I get caught up in a auction and bid more than I should. Once you're outbid you no longer have an obligation to follow through on your bid unless you get and want to take a second chance offer. At least that's my understanding.
  16. Glad to hear Banzai and Charlie have the hatch sill replacement panels. It was my understanding from prior posters that they were NLA from Courtesy and other suppliers that used to have them. I have a Nissan repair panel I got from Courtesy and was considering selling it, but am not so sure now because my project has a few small spots on the inside edge. I wish I had cut out the part from my '72 parts car before I gave it away because it was in pretty good shape, but I had to act fast to get the car moved from where I was storing it so I just got most of the things I could unbolt quickly without doing any cutting.

Could you post a photo of the result? Thanks.
  18. Welcome, that is a great shade of blue - beautiful car.
  19. Your car looks great, love the headlight covers. I'm in the Okanogan/Okanagan Valley just south of Osoyoos on the U.S. side of the border.

I don't believe it mattered which type of tranny came in the car as far as interior color.
  21. If the poster's son likes the 2+2 then I say go for it if it is able to pass California smog requirements. I have two 240Zs and my preference is for the two seater, but I hope there are people out there who want to preserve the early Z's slightly homelier sister. I'd hate to see them all disappear from disinterest. I've seen some really excellent examples on this forum and others. Let your son decide what he likes. Might be a less expensive way for him to get into Zs as the 2+2s are often priced for less.
  22. Did you try.......... "MORE COWBELL" Sorry, couldn't resist, love your avatar. Needs to be said with your best Christopher Walkin impression.
  23. Here's one from a 280Z on eBay that looks similar:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/75-76-77-78-Datsun-280Z-Air-Cleaner-Assembly_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43946QQihZ019QQitemZ290178938694QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  24. Isn't that the standard air cleaner from a 280Z or maybe a 280zx? I'm no expert, I'll check the galleries.
