240Z in movies
Didn't re-read this whole thread to see if anyone mentioned it (did a search though), but there was a gold 280ZX in 'The Office' tonight. It looked in good shape. Parked next to Pam's car if your familiar with the show.

I need an AFM, from where is the best deal?
Mohamed, Thanks for the info on the paint. I'll keep the secret just between us about exactly what car it is from. . Good luck on your search for a new one. Gary

Rack, struts, spring, bushings
Chuck, let us know about the car's stance after you get the Euro springs on all four corners. There's been some talk about cutting off coils to get the car to sit lower. I have the Euro springs (oem, not the reproductions) and am going to use Mulholund oil shocks and was hoping not to have to cut them. But if I do, I'll follow the lead of others that have gone before me. A couple of previous forum discussions talking about the Euro Springs: http://classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21115&page=2 http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25986&highlight=euro+springs

Wow, you sold your Z - amazing. Always wanted to ask, but kept forgetting to, what brand/shade/color of paint was used to paint your silver car? I suspect it was not a stock silver, but I always thought it looked great. Hope you find a new Z soon and hope you continue to monitor this website and contribute Mohamed. Gary D.

Right Size for an Air Compressor
The 220 thing has always been a sticking point for me. My old electrical box doesn't have any room for any new breakers. When I needed a new 220V for my submersible well pump the electrician had to get two of these special breakers where twin switched breakers fit in a slot where only one would go normally. Then one from each of these new double breakers (the two switches adjacent to each other, in the middle) was used for the 220V and the two remaining switches (on the outside) were left at 110. I don't know if my description makes sense, but it worked. I'd have to go the same route for my garage, but might be able to get away with tapping into the well pump line, as it runs right by the garage. But I'll leave these things to the electrician. I get nervous installing a new light fixture.

Right Size for an Air Compressor
Anyone have any experience with this Harbor Freight compressor - would this be adequate for most jobs. My mind is starting to swim over all the numbers. It's not rated as high as the one Beandip describes, but would this work for most applications? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=94667

Out of curiosity...
I hope relations between our countries can be rebuilt. We have a great history with the French going all the way back to the American Revolution. Sure, we aren't always going to agree, but making the French out to be a joke "Freedom Fries" isn't helping anybody. The USA and Europe need to work together toward positive solutions to problems around the globe. I'm for America first, but we'll get more done with cooperation than with always choosing an adversarial position (on both sides). Maybe a change in our own administration as well will help us to rebuild bridges rather than being Eurocentric or Americentric and Viva le difference!

Hello from Corfu
You're right, for a newspaper editor I get kind of sloppy when I'm typing on the forums some times.

Hello from Corfu
Carl, I'm back in the U.S. now. No chance to go to the Ferrari Factory. I wish. The young women were closer to 25+ than 20 even. They're one import I would have liked to have brought back with me. Too much for my carry on. I had a great time on my trip, wish I could have had more time. Took care of most of the touristy things tho. Altho I didn't get much of Rome, but the airport. Saw literally thousands of scooters, many Vespas. They've got the cool factor and are especially popular in Seattle (on the wet/west side of the state), but at 6'6" I might be a little out of place on one. Maybe when I was 14 or 15 years-old. Seems like most of the expensive cars were Beemers or Mercedes. Lots of little Fiats, Opels, Renaults, Citroens, etc. Smart cars too. As our driver said in Florence Smart for two or Smart for four. Very expensive. At least they could park nose or tail in to the curb in a space normally motorcycle size. My mom and uncle probably thought I was nuts for paying almost as much attention to the cars as I did the tourists sights. What else are you going to do as you're riding through the various cities between attractions? I'll post some trip photos once I've gone thru the hundreds I took.

Hello from Corfu
Those would be a couple (is that counted as two or four? Oh that's right this isn't the breast thread) of Sicily's finest. The Italian girls are beautiful. Take care.

Hello from Corfu
I'm in Messina, Sicily today in an Internet Cafe' with actual Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Still no Zs, but there are other sites besides the churches I've found to keep me occupied. I might just reverse my family's trend emigrate back to Sicily and the land of my great grandfather. Altho I'll be one of the few 6.5 footers (nearly 2 meters I guess) Italians around. Here's a taste of the local offerings. Que Libidine' (my Italians very rusty, but getting better, I think anyway.) Got to be better than my spelling of Yugo last post.

Hello from Corfu
Well, I'm sweltering away in an Internet Cafe in Greece. My mom and uncle, both aging, invited me along on a cruise of the Med/Adriatic. I haven't seen any Zs, but a Ferrari tried to get splattered by our tour bus in Dubrovnik, Croatia. I've seen tons of old Datsun Pickups (and Nissan of course) as well as a Yogo pickup here in Greece. Seems we only got those lovely VW Rabbit types. I'd stay connected with the club because I'm getting withdrawls but it is 95 cents a minute on shipboard, nearly $60 an hour - those Putanas. Anyway it is about $8 an hour here and well worth the extra sweat. Altho I'm crammed in behind the table with all the wires because I'm using my laptop instead of one of their machines. I'll check back when I have more time. Which I could save everything and check it out off-line. If I spot a Z I'll be sure to take a pic. Back to Italy soon, then back to the states.

wish to rebuild 240z!
Sorry, I didn't realize this thread was a million years old. Oh well, I believe my info is correct anyway.

wish to rebuild 240z!
The 280ZX was manufactured from 1979 until 1983. I believe the turbos were available 1981 to 1983. I have a P90 (not P90A) head, they are frequently listed on eBay. I think the P90A was on the 1983 turbo version. I've heard less good things about this because of the hydraulic lifters, although I've heard they can be converted.

Who do you get your parts from?
I have gotten some parts from Tabco and Mill Supply, I believe Mill's are made by Tabco. However, last time I ordered something from Tabco, it was about two months later and still no parts. Someone called and said one wasn't available at that time and they were just waiting to send both at same time when the other became available. By that time I had gotten a different shell and said to just forget the whole order. I think Mills is better for getting their orders out.

Speedhut gauge faces installed, finally!
Yes a speedo that starts at 20 mph and a gauge face for my rally clock when it gets working would be great. Gary D.

svannah z---say it ain't so!
Yes, I noticed the car was for sale too. Looked at all the photos (recognized some from being posted here) and watched the walk-around vid. I hope your personal emergency can be resolved. Best of luck to you. Gary D.

A good screw just isn't enough-it must oscillate!
Was going to edit my last post as I see I spoke before I'd read the next page. William, if you are going to send in your clock and need to send the oscillator with, then go ahead. I wonder how much these guys would charge to update to a self-contained (no separate oscillator) rally. I was hoping for an inexpesive solution, like cheap oscillator repair or copy, but whatever the consensus here I'm willing to go along for the good of the cause.

A good screw just isn't enough-it must oscillate!
It all sounds great - happy to have some great minds working on this problem. I just want mine to run and look original in the dash (even if it wasn't). It can be self-contained in the gauge or separate like the original oscillator was. Just happy that some old rally clocks might rally again.

Has Anyone Fit Rota Rb Wheels?
That's a great looking wheel. Not sure on fitment, but if as 240ZX says they'll work and the price is right it looks like a good option.

Series I Parking Light Switch
Congrats. I am sorta glad I was gone for the end of the auction otherwise I might have been tempted into a bidding war. My car needs so many other things at this point, but like I said, I never saw one on eBay before and was kind of hoping no one else would spot it when I realized I was going to be out in the boonies when the auction ended anyway. I suppose I should have brought it to the clubs attention. Glad someone here got it for a good price. I believe the double switch is really is more of a curiosity than an actual North American model part, but would have been fun to have. I'm looking for a fog light switch for the dash too. The one that looks like the early hazard switch (toggle), but with the fog lights marking.

Beware of George G. Robbins (aka: reddat)!!!
My local U.S. Post Office provides free Priority Mail boxes. They are to be used for Priority Mail through the USPS only. I've been using them to ship items for several years. You can even have boxes delivered to your home for free to use to ship items. There are even co-labeled Priority Boxes with the eBay logo printed on them. Even though it seems a sin, the post office does not like you to even re-cycle already used boxes by turning them inside out. If they suspect it they will want you to pay Priority mail prices. I understand this is so people don't take advantage of this free service, but when they are already used it makes sense to recycle rather than add to the wastestream. Series I Parking Light Switch
Hey, anybody win this auction? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270108222888&rd=1 I was the first to bid because of the parking light switches, where normally U.S. models have the blanking thing. I would have bid up, maybe not that much, but I had to go to the ranch for branding time and was away from the computer and am too cheap to place an over the top bid and maybe win for more than I wanted to spend. I am assuming this is an original part with the early defroster switch. I've never seen one on auction before. The overall condition of the choke plate, lever mechanism looks a little ragged though.
