Well that sucks! Tell that guy where to get real brakes. At least your car didn't get totaly destroyed like all those ar Road America two weeks ago.

New NABCO clutch rod too short???
If you don't have threading dies, then all-thread rod will work. If you can't find metric all-thred rod than SAE threds will work with SAE nylon-lock nut. Just radius end of rod that fits cylinder cup and shape nyloc nut to fit clutch fork. A hacksaw, file and emery paper is minium that you need. EDIT: The threads should END before the boot. Boot just slips over smooth part of rod and grips it tight enough to keep rod from falling out. I would thread a smooth rod, but all thread rod could have threads filed off at boot. Leaving threads on at boot will wear rubber and allow crud into clutch slave. Example: If you assume stock rod is 6mm (.236 inches), then I would use 5/16 all thread rod and file threads of from boot to piston cup (.25" approx diameter) which would give a slightly tighter fit for the boot to rod. Enrique? Regards, Pancho

New NABCO clutch rod too short???
Eric, take the rod off the old cylinder (only the rubber boot holds it on). If that is still to short then thread a piece of rod and cut to the right length.

Classic car destruction.
Wonder how the driver of the yellow Stingray rates the under carriage of the Camaro? Hope he had some roll bars forward of the main hoop!

Classic car destruction.
That was Road America last weekend for the Brian Redman Invitational Classic. Look at the blue #6 Camaro and the white w/blue stripe Firebird. Wonder why they are so high? There is a yellow 63 Stingray roadster under them!

Rear, outer transverse link Polyurethane...
You are correct Mark. EDIT:You should be using a steel flat washer on outer ends under nut to spread the load from nut to poly.

Help, problem with rear stub axles
Dreco, what dspillman said. When you say "play" you mean rotational play right? In that case I would guess that the stub axel and companion flange splines are shot, probably because wrong companion flange (large/small) used with stub axel (small/large). Your going to have to pull halfshaft and companion flange to check splines. Also be sure to check for weld failure per dspillman. If you have to change out stub and flange might as well do bearings and seal, and of course you will need a new axel nut. Good news is I have a set (2 each) of stub axels/flanges in excellent condition that I could sell. I also have some used long (2 1/2 threaded) 1/2-20 wheel studs, or new extra long (3' threaded) 1/2-20 wheel studs. Sorry, no stock shorty wheel studs.

F1 Race @ Indy
Good for Michelin to be the first to put money back into the fans picked pockets. Latest I read is that 7 of the 10 teams and Max and Bernie have offered to run again in the fall. The three teams that did run would not perform again for free (I'm sooo suprised!). Thank goodness Tony gave a flat no answer. Let's see now, two half-assed races make a whole? Sounds like pre-court manuvering by the FIA, F1, and Michelin 7.

Steering help.
Bill, lifting the engine is the only way to get the old out and the new in. Or, if you want more work, try droping the front cross member, just remember to hold the engine up (see first suggestion).

total internal engine fluid volume
I am just speachless, why would you fill the carbs to the pan? Guiness world record?

Warped Rotor Myth (by Beandip)
Nice find. Since I have put all new brakes on my car, but have not driven it yet, it serves as a good reminder as to how to break everthing in correctly.

Please read this interview with Paul Stoddard whose Minardi's took part in the race. Very, very interesting reading! http://www.planet-f1.com/features/race_features/story_20035.shtml

F1 Race @ Indy
Please think back (old timers are at an advantage here) about all the "classic" race tracks that the FIA/F1 Drivers Association/Others have insisted that needed chicanes to be used again for racing. Spa, LeMans, Monza, Daytona, and now turn one at Indy. Why was it so impossible? Unfair to Bridgestone, Ferarri, etc., but not mentioned with any substance prior to the fallout of stupidity were the fans in attendence, the television audiance, or the sponsers who foot the outragous bills! But NOBODY is happy now, including those that could have changed the events!!!! All the big shots remind me of small time pimps. Makes Cliff Claven seem a real man!

F1 Race @ Indy
After all the arguments I've read about how the "rules must be followed" comes this excerpt from the first class action lawsuit against the "Almighties" + the Speedway: QUOTE: "'The alleged 'race' participated by just three teams did not constitute a true grand prix race under FIA and Formula One rules in that the race was started with an insufficient number of participants,' the lawsuit declared" So much for Max staking out the "My hands were tied", "rules are rules", "they were warned about durability requirements", (add nauseum) territory. The race should never have gotten a green flag as the lack of entries made it inelegible for World Championship status.

F1 Race @ Indy
Well Sopwith and I finaly agree! No it is not Tony George's fault. But that said, I do believe the ticket buyers entered into an agreement with the speedway as the promoter of the race. The ticket buyers had no such contract with F1, the FIA, Michelin, or as the FIA calls them now "the Michelin 7". Tony and the Speedway had a contract with the "Almighties". It is TG who can directly recover his damages from them. I belive it would be fitting of TG to give refunds for the tickets (much cheaper than the total cost paid by the fans), and to use that refunded amount as clear and proven damages against the "Almighties". TG would come across as a hero to the racing public and he could use his "power" for good to hold the untouchables to justice. The other option for the only damaged parties (the fans) would be a class action against the "almighties" AND THE SPEEDWAY. In this case Tony gets unfairly lumped with the guilty parties. Also, in a class action some legal beagle will be including hotel rooms, air fare, emotional hardship and probably beer and lap dances. By the latest news it looks like Max and Bernie are already to PROFIT from their culpibility by fining the "Michelin 7" , who by the way will be M & B's competition in 2008.

F1 Race @ Indy
The fans will vote on F1 with their wallets, and I can't imagine there was much of a line to buy 2006 tickets today (a huge line to get refunds though). F1 is done at Indy and I can't imagine any other track promoter thinking that taking it's (Indy's) place is a good business decision.

Indy 500 Not Won By Danica Patrick!
When CART cancelled their race in Texas I belived they were sued by TIR and lost. They also were replaced at TIR by the IRL. Makes you wonder if TG will be looking to book the WOGAM, ABSCAM, GOKART, or whatever they call themselves now for a roadrace thrue the infield next years. I can see the headlines "All is well, CART and Speedway make up, races to be held seperate weekends!".

Indy 500 Not Won By Danica Patrick!
We will have to see if HS30-H (Alan) saw any news in the UK about this Indy race! I Imagine that the winner of this race didn't get many accolades either. F1 is such a political farce, Ferrari (Bernie's defactor corporate team) was the lone holdout to a rational compromise. Why? Because they were sure to get results against what remained of the grid. The FIA could have let Michelin bring in different tires and fore those teams to start from the pits, or given a time penality. Most of all, Bernie could have been a LEADER who cares after the check clears!
-
Indy 500 Not Won By Danica Patrick!
Hope that in 2008 Bernie is left holding the bag (his own preferably) and the manufactures have their own series (minus Ferrari). Bernie can say that his two cars (Ferrari) are the real championship all he wants. Ask the folks who spent money to see the USGP farce if they think it's a show worth watching. I think TG should stop payment on the sanctioning fee to cover ticket refunds. The fans contracted with TG and the Speedway to see a World Championship event. TG contracted with F1 (Bernie) to stage the same. Tony is liable (morally, if not legally) to the fans, and F1 is legally liable to TG, so start filling papers.

Indy 500 Not Won By Danica Patrick!
Well I think this thread is done. "the simple fact that Danica is a good driver". Agreed, though I would have said rookie driver. "who's accomplishments have been dramatically overstated". How do accomplishments get overstated? Do you suggest that these have been "made up"? Can't agree here, sorry. "and overpublicized because of gender". Well why did it take 2 and 1/2 weeks and 24 posts to get to your point? Was it so hard to say "chick racer"? I just say "racer", or "rookie", but then again her being a chick, or the rest of the drivers being guys, is of no matter..

Indy 500 Not Won By Danica Patrick!
Your argument would carry more weight if you discussed Tomas public treatment(or ANY other IRL'er) to the OTHER IRL'ers (excluding your pet project Danica). Excluding Danica's press at Indy, who would you have said received more press undeservedly than Giaffone? Than Herta? Then Carpenter? WHO, WHO, WHO? EDIT: "Woe be unto him who dares to hold both to the same standard." If this is the case, you should ask your contacts in the media to please add the line "Thomas Scheckter, former F1 test driver who was released to the IRL following an arrest for soliciting for sex" every time they mention "Danica Patrick, former model for FMH (Slick, Stack, whatever) while seeking press to further fledgling racing career" EDIT 2: Or this, "Tomas Scheckter, who has crashed three times more winning cars than Danica has sat in". Or this "Tomas Schecktor who's father pimped him to the racing insiders, much as Danica pimped her own *ss in a men's magazine". You get the idea. Right?
