Rear caliper mounting brackets
OK guys lets try this another way. I've reread this thread and now I will list the parts, models, years. This is for the Maxima brackets w/Maxima or 280ZX Rotors. And 280ZX Calipers. I think it looks like we are still up in the air about the SX calipers untill ecp48 posts on his install very soon. But my intentions for this are to get all our collective information and hopefully set it in stone for what WILL AND WILL NOT work when using these bone yard parts. I hope you all can agree with this. So if I make a mistake or leave something out please let me know, remember I am doing this for all of use and with all of our information and experience. Ego Boosting!!!
I gotta agree with Carl on this one. Even in small text the owners name and model year. A Tshirt would be a nice bonus. But that's just this guys idea. Was there a response to your email? Damn Gav240, knew you were at MSA and which Zed was yours. I was there and didn't even get a chance to say hello. WE NEED CLUB SHIRTS or something. :devious:

Rear caliper mounting brackets
Hey ecp48, so what you are saying is the SX binders with 280 ZX disc (which year please) will/should bolt right up? Yes I agree with you on the different angle of the Ebrake mount bracket. But as I stated earlier, I remember the brackets being bolt on affairs. So should be easy to swap brackets from one to the other. As for the brake hose the SX has a hollow banjo bolt setup. The ZX has the metric flare union. Dude I will be looking foward to what you are gonna post coming up on your conversion! And If you can or do get any further information about this variant conversion please let me know. I have half this stuff right now but if there is any alternative I would like to take that into account before commiting to one type of conversion. Thanx :devious:

Rear caliper mounting brackets
Hey ecp48 How does the set up work with the '81-'84 Rear Maxima brackets work out with the SX calipers. Need spacers or shims. There was some skuttlebuut about the 280ZX and the Sx calipers being the same. I tried to compare them to each other last time out but it was raing fairly hard and the casting numbers were not really visable throught the sheets of rain pouring off my face. The do seem very alike. and the arm/bracket for the parking brake cable is bolt on to both if I remeber right. Any more info for the Maxima brackets w/SX calipers? :devious:

It actually looks like they are reversed from the original intended applications orientation. Like this one, if rotated to the right at a 90 degree it would fit something else on the passenger side door.

Rear Disc Conversion
Is that the right speeling? Mimzey, what's up? Just by your name I know I seen you and you guy walking around!! Yes, I know PierreZ. They have worked on my engine in the past. Was it a blue Z. And was it the ONE WITH THE PIERREZ on the windshield? After they closed to the public with the Nissan store thing I haddn't been back. Couldn't find their #, not listed, no web sight, and just never seem to want to sit in 110-10 traffic when the might be open. When I seen the little both set up He had I walked right up and graped a card. Mimzey, you or your man remember this set up in question. Or did/have you guys seen this set up before? :devious:

Rear Disc Conversion
What I am going for is to find out an exact item year and model that would work with the conversion to the 240Z. That way while at the breakers I might be able to grab the splashsheilds that WILL work from the get go. Maybe just fitting some on with the same bolt pattern a'la LanceM, sblake and simply cut on them a'la Toyota 4pot WITH sheilds. Anybody that went see the Z in question? I think it might have been blue? Perhaps somebody knows whose it was. :devious:

Rear Disc Conversion
Today at the MSA show I saw a Z converted to rear disc brakes WITH a backing plate. This looked very right! I don't remember the color of the Z only that it was on MotorSports side of the street, right around the front just off to one side. Just the rear rotros looked trick but not ALL tricked out. Which is cool. But with the backing plates it looks all OEM. Very cool. Very trick looking without having to be. If any of your cats have any information or what this finishing touch entails please post! Also good to see Victor, Steve, and Mr & Mrs chino240z.
