Carl you are correct, my old eyes missed the "1" before the 2, in other words it is stamped 12/02.. that brings the vin in to correctness with being a 73 model. Picture of my dash is included that does not have the cross shape indent, but does have the toggle hazard switch.

welp-- after looking at these comparisons, and recently finishing my dash, thanks to BD240Z's write up on his fix, and had the dash in the house..... my car is a 72 not 73. My title states 73, but after checking the ID on the door, sho-nuff, manufactured 02/72. Dont know why i didnt catch this sooner. Thanks Carl.

thanks for putting those pics up, i do appreciate! one question, on the bottom of the thermo houseing, do you have a plug in the lower water port or is there a "T" fitting for the coolant line? I have included one of your pics with a circle on the part i am referring to. thanks again

today i was cleaning the wiring harness getting it ready to re-install into the engine bay and just happened to take the boot off covering the connector that leads to the sending unit and found this extra wire inside the boot. Im not sure where this is suppose to connect to. The wiring diagram in the fsm shows only 1 wire however this lead has two, and the harness only has the bullet connector (female end) to plug into. Any suggestions would be appreciated as usual..... 1973Z Thanks!!
