  1. The flat top carbs have, in my humble opinion, but one purpose in this day and age. Attach a chain to them, after throughly cleaning them, of course, and attach the other end of the chain to your favorite small boat--instant boat anchor!!! You will really cannot go wrong with a set of carbs from ZTherapy. They are, or at least should be, the standard by which all other SU rebuilders are judged. Just my 2% of what ever currency you favor........... Jim

A 1971 Z with SU's will not have a cold start valve. Are the chokes working? What shape are the carbs in? Did you rebuild them to? Need more info here. Jim

Check ebay, there are always stes on there. They seem to go for $500 and up. That is for DCOE's with manifold and linkage. I don't know that I have heard of DCO's......but I have been wrong before.... Jim

Well, I used to have Vin #HLS30-03900, sold it to a neighbor and his 17 year old stuffed in a ditch 2 weeks later.......totaled the car, really bummed me out. Now, I have Vin #HLS30-03242, a work in progress. 3242 was a San Diego car for most of its life, never been wrecked, although it was stolen a couple of times, then returned to the owner. I got it about 5 years ago, did not have the original engine in it when I got it. It has an L28 with SU's now.

Its my understanding that the E30 head was supplied on the 2.0 liter, 6 cylinder engines in Japan, and they have much smaller valves then any of the heads supplied to the US market. If someone has more complete info, please speak up!
